9-Year-Old Shelter Dog's Devastated Cries After Being Surrendered Are Breaking Hearts Everywhere
Sometimes on social media, you stumble across something that absolutely breaks your heart. For me, it's usually a sad animal story. Knowing that dogs are normally so happy and love the attention of their families, it hurts so much to see one in a shelter or rescue that is sad, depressed, and missing their humans. That's exactly what happened to this 9-year-old Pit Bull mix who was dumped at a shelter recently.
Fortunately, the sweet girl is in a foster home with a loving woman named Elaine Harrison. Throughout Elaine's video she's speaking to the sad dog softly, trying to let her know that she's loved. The poor pooch is missing her family so much and barely responds. Her said cries at the beginning of the video made me cry too!
Elaine seems like the perfect foster mom, and I hope the sweet pooch can feel that too. I know that senior dogs are less likely to be adopted than a puppy or younger dog, but this one seems so gentle and loveable that I hope she finds her forever family soon.
Viewers were just as upset as I was about the sweet dog's reaction to being abandoned by her family. @1,000 Faerie Wishes shared, "She's crying for her family..." and Elaine responded with, "She absolutely is!" @mss.zaj agreed, "Her heart is broken. Thank you for showing her grace and love." @KB added, "I can't imagine giving up my senior dogs. They are the best. Her cries are heartbreaking."
@Arletty Rodriguez cried, "That poor baby!" and Elaine almost made me cry when she shared, "I've done this a long time, and this is one of the most shut down dogs I've ever met. But I got her."
Elaine said at the end of the video that she's going to be sharing the dog's incredible transformation. I checked to see if there's an updated video, but she hasn't posted it yet. I can't wait to see what happens next and I hope that there's a very happy ending coming! There is something so special about senior dogs. We had a West Highland Terrier for almost 14 years, and saying goodbye to her was one of the hardest things we've ever had to do as a family...she was my first baby and my son's first sibling! Senior dogs tend to be easier going and enjoy just cuddling up and relaxing as much as they enjoy playing. They mellow out, and don't have nearly as much energy as young dogs do. They are the best!
The term "senior" isn't the same number for all dogs. Some dogs become seniors when they are as young as 6 years old while others don't become seniors until they're 11 or so. The reason for the difference? It all has to do with how much your dog weighs.
Dogs weighing 15 pounds or less become seniors at 11 years of age.
Dogs weighing between 16 and 50 pounds are seniors at 9 years of age.
Dogs weighing between 51 and 80 pounds are seniors at 8 years of age, and dogs weighing more than 80 pounds become seniors at 6 years of age.
In short, the more they weigh, the shorter their lifespans. As your dog ages, it's important to keep up with their routine wellness checks and bloodwork. This allows your vet to monitor for potential health-related issues that may be treatable before they become a problem. Talk to your vet about concerns about your fur baby's health or any pain they may begin to experience. Remember that as they enter their senior years, they'll need (and want) you more than ever.

Marvelous Maine Coon Caught Meowing ‘Mama' Is Daughter of the Year
Marvelous Maine Coon Caught Meowing 'Mama' Is Daughter of the Year originally appeared on Parade Pets. If you want a talking pet, your best bet is to get some kind of a parrot, usually. They can learn to talk, sing, make sounds like the ocean... A parrot's talents seem endless. However, they're also very high-maintenance, and not everyone can have one. Good news, though: apparently cats can talk now, too! At least, one can. On Wednesday, June 4th, one cat fully got caught saying "mama" on camera. It was clear as day and makes everyone question whether cats have actually been able to talk this whole darn time: I can't believe @chloemragland24 has a talking cat. You have no idea how jealous I am... None of my pets talk, and I have 4 birds! This is the only video of this Maine Coon on her mom's account, but that's okay: it's the best one. She has a Pit Bull sibling, too, but they don't talk. They hog all of their mom's attention, but at least they can't talk! This kitty can, and she let everyone know all about it! Chloe is also a mom to three kids, so she's referred to as "mama" often, and the word is constantly being used. Some have speculated that this might be the reason the cat was able to "say" it, and others claim their cats do the same thing! Cats cannot technically learn and mimic words like parrots can, as badly as we'd like them to be able to. They can learn when the best time to vocalize is, and their different vocalizations can sound like words, but that's not what they're meant to be. Most commonly, people claim their cats can say words like, "I love you," "mama," and "hello." It certainly sounds like they might be, and if they time it right, it really feels like they're responding to you. A win is a win! Who cares about technicalities? It sounds like this kitty definitely said mama, and you know what? Maybe she did. Maybe cats are just fooling us all... 🐶🐾🐾 Marvelous Maine Coon Caught Meowing 'Mama' Is Daughter of the Year first appeared on Parade Pets on Jun 5, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade Pets on Jun 5, 2025, where it first appeared.

Several comments came from women who could relate to having had a great time at weddings and similar functions, despite preconceived ideas that they would struggle to feel comfortable and have fun. "Replacing drinks for snacks has been so fun," one viewer said, while another added: "This was me at a Pitbull concert eating a Jimmy John's BLT." "I got married at 34-weeks pregnant [and] had the time of my life," a third viewer shared. "I have two weddings coming up and seeing this makes me so happy," another added. Despite the overwhelmingly positive response to the clip, a number of TikTok users shared that they have had opposite experiences while pregnant and out and about at rowdy events. "I was 27-weeks when I went and danced until midnight then went to bed and woke up with Braxton hicks contractions," one viewer said, while another added: "I overheat so easily at 28-weeks I wish this could be me but I'm a sweaty mess." "I'm 22-weeks and was dancing like this at a festival and I swear I was so out of breath," another commented. "I would've gone into labor," another said. "You go girl." Video: Dog's Seating Choice Proves Who the Favorite Parent Is
There's an unspoken rule in many pet-owning households: the pet runs the house. They choose when to eat, where to sleep, and apparently, who's allowed to sit next to whom on the couch. In a recent Instagram video, a dog made it very clear to her owners that seating arrangements are not up for negotiation, especially when it comes to her favorite parent. Shmoo, a rescue Pit Bull, isn't afraid to express her feelings. In a viral video posted by her owners, she throws what can only be described as a tantrum. Normally, Shmoo enjoys sitting cozily between her mom and dad. But in this particular moment, both parents chose to sit on the same side, leaving Shmoo alone on the opposite end. Her face says it all — ears back, eyes full of betrayal. The disappointment is real. In an effort to make it right, her dad stands up and offers her his spot so that the dog can sit next to his favourite parent. However, the pup is not impressed. Instead of moving over, she begins to whimper, turning her head away and expressing her disapproval loud and clear. It's as if she needed to make sure her dad understood just how wrong he was for sitting next to mom. Eventually, in a show of defeat, the dad leaves the room so balance — and Shmoo's preferred arrangement — can be restored. The video is captioned with a playful jab: 'Why would a man be there? *no dads were hurt in the making of this video.' Not surprisingly, the comments section quickly filled with laughter and support for the moody pup. One person wrote, 'The way she's looking at you like 'how very dare you,'' while another joked, 'Shmoo! You are communicating SO CLEARLY and Dad is just not getting it!' Others chimed in with their own relatable stories. 'I thought my baby pittie was the only one who did this,' one said. Another called dad 'the spare human,' adding, 'He got above his station.'
