AOC Ridicules Hegseth After Being Congratulated for 'Not a Single Leak' From Iran Bombing: 'Not a Vote of Confidence'
Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez mocked Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth after a conservative political pundit congratulated him for managing the U.S. attack on Iran without any leaks.
The New York representative took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond to conservative columnist amd Newsmax host Todd Starnes who had commended Hegseth on the same platform earlier.
"Not a single leak. Well done, @SecDef," Starnes wrote, appearing to refer to the Signalgate scandal from earlier this year after it was revealed that a journalist was added to a private Signal chat of Trump officials discussing strikes on Yemen.
"This is like applauding a grown man for being able to wipe their behind. Not exactly a vote of confidence," AOC responded.
Social media users quickly took to the replies of Ocasio-Cortez's post to further ridicule Hegseth, with some expressing frustrations at the fact that the Trump administration had become involved in another foreign war.
"The cowardice displayed here, by not seeking the Congress' declaration of war, is astounding," said one.
"All day I've been seeing house MAGA applauding @SecDef for not leaking out anything about the bombings. I WANT TO KNOW why is this deemed normal? We shouldn't have to be praising a grown man let alone the @SecDef for not drunk texting military secrets," said another.
"Like why are we congratulating someone who's supposed to be doing their jobs," another user wrote.
President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. had successfully bombed three Iranian nuclear sites in a national address delivered from the White House on Saturday evening.
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, a close ally to AOC, also commented on the attack, drawing parallels between this attack to the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
"No weapons of mass destruction were ever found," Sanders said, referencing the Iraq invasion. "That war was based on a lie. A lie that cost us 4,500 young Americans, 32,000 wounded and trillions of dollars."
"We cannot let history repeat itself," he continued.

US Supreme Court Allows Third Country Deportations To Resume
A divided US Supreme Court paved the way on Monday for the Trump administration to resume deportations of undocumented migrants to countries that are not their own. The unsigned order from the conservative-dominated top court came in response to an emergency appeal by the Justice Department to lift a stay imposed by a lower court on so-called third country deportations. The Supreme Court did not provide an explanation for the decision and the three liberal justices dissented. The original case challenging the third country deportations will now be heard by an appeals court but the top court's move allows the removals to proceed for now. District Judge Brian Murphy had ordered a halt to third country deportations in April, saying migrants were not being given a "meaningful opportunity" to contest their expulsions. Murphy said they should get at least 15 days to challenge their deportation and provide evidence of whether they may be at risk of torture or death if expelled. The original case involves the deportation of eight men -- two from Myanmar, two from Cuba, a Vietnamese man, a Laotian, a Mexican and one from South Sudan -- who the US authorities said were convicted violent criminals. They were being flown to impoverished war-torn South Sudan when Murphy's order came down and have been held since at a US military base in Djibouti. The Trump administration has defended the third country deportations as necessary since the home nations of some of those being targeted for removal often refuse to accept them. Justice Sonia Sotomayor, author of the dissent, accused the administration of "flagrantly unlawful conduct" that is "exposing thousands to the risk of torture or death." "The government has made clear in word and deed that it feels itself unconstrained by law, free to deport anyone anywhere without notice or an opportunity to be heard," Sotomayor said. Donald Trump campaigned for president promising to expel millions of undocumented migrants, and he has taken a number of actions aimed at speeding up deportations since returning to the White House in January. But his mass deportation efforts have been thwarted or stalled by numerous courts, including the Supreme Court, over concerns that migrant rights to due process are being ignored. Murphy, an appointee of Trump's Democratic predecessor Joe Biden, also temporarily blocked the government from expelling Asian migrants to Libya.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Condemns on Trump Admin for 'Turning Back on Campaign Promises': 'We Are Entering Nuclear War'
Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a staunch MAGA supporter, condemned the Trump administration for "turning its back on campaign promises" after the weekend strike on Iran. In an interview on "Steve Bannon's War Room," Greene criticized the Trump administration for neglecting the needs of everyday Americans, who she said are living paycheck to paycheck and struggling to afford groceries, health insurance, housing, gas and more, all while the U.S. goes to war in support of Israel. "Six months in, Steve, and here we are, turning back on the campaign promises," Greene stated in a video shared on X. "We bombed Iran on behalf of Israel, yes, it was on behalf of Israel. We're entering a nuclear war, World War III, because the entire world is going to erupt," she continued. Greene added that the people cheering on the U.S. attacks on Iran are going to drastically change their tune "the minute we start seeing flag-draped coffins on the nightly news." She went on to slam Fox News and CNN for being outlets that "brainwashes baby boomers." "And that is exactly how this is going to go down," Greene added. Greene spoke out against U.S. involvement in the Israel-Iran war and criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for launching the initial strike. Alongside the shared interview clip, she wrote: "MAGA is not for foreign wars. We are not for regime change. We are for AMERICA FIRST. The United States should not be involved in fighting nuclear-armed Israel's war with Iran." Originally published on Latin Times
