This sunny coastal town is Australia's top trending destination for a winter road trip
The cool cats at Camplify gathered data from more than 1,700 caravan bookings for between June and August 2025 to determine the ten most popular winter road trip spots across the country. It's clear we Aussies are dreaming of sunnier days, with our sun-soaked West Coast dominating the top ten.
More than one in four Aussies are road-tripping in Western Australia this winter, with the stunning coastal town of Exmouth claiming the top spot. It accounted for almost ten per cent of all winter bookings on Camplify – and with average temps sitting at a balmy 24 degrees from June to August, it's not hard to see why.
Our Travel & News Editor, Melissa Woodley, recently visited Exmouth – and she hasn't stopped raving about it since. In fact, it could be her favourite Aussie destination of the year. While there, she ticked off a bucket list swim with whale sharks (the world's largest fish), searched for black-footed rock wallabies at Yardie Creek, and hiked through the fossil-crusted Mandu Mandu Gorge, a place that's been inhabited by humans for about 30,000 years. Humpback whale season has also just kicked off, making winter an even more magical time to visit.
Just a 1.5-hour drive from Exmouth, Coral Bay ranked as Australia's second most popular winter road trip destination, claiming more than five per cent of bookings. Further south, the picturesque resort town of Kalbarri ranked third, while other Western Australian gems like Monkey Mia, Margaret River and Esperance also made the top ten.
On the East, Mundi Mundi – an expansive outback plain in far western New South Wales – ranked as Australia's fourth most popular winter destination. In late August, the region comes alive for the annual Mundi Mundi Bash, where music lovers camp beneath vast desert skies and groove to the sounds of iconic Aussie artists like Missy Higgins and the Hoodoo Gurus.

Just in: These two Australian bars were named among the world's best by Time Out
Thirsty? You've come to the right place. Time Out is known for recommending the best places to go out around the world, and that absolutely includes must-visit bars. Much like our restaurant scene, Australia is home to some of the grooviest, grungiest and downright glorious watering holes this world has ever seen. Case in point: Time Out has just dropped its 2025 roundup of the best bars in the world – and two Aussie standouts made the cut. To curate our list of the world's finest, funkiest and most fantastic bars, we asked Time Out's international network of writers and editors to share their number one spot for a drink in their city. In the 2025 ranking, two Australian bars made their mark among just 18 inclusions. Obviously, Melbourne's ever-evolving bar scene featured on the list, with the handsome Apollo Inn landing in 11th place. Tucked inside a 1920s Neo-Renaissance building, this cosy, dimly-lit cocoon is perfect for old-world cocktail classics and sophisticated snacks. Apollo Inn's refreshing Picon Bière is a one-way ticket to summer in France, but you can also never go wrong with the Gibson Martini. Time Out Melbourne contributor Lauren Dinse says, 'Your best bet for getting a table at this perennially popular 30-seater is to clock off early from work and pop in at around 4pm. Stay as long as you like; any night of the week, you'll be made very welcome.' Over in Sydney, Pleasure Club – a purple-hued, disco ball-lit basement bar where hedonism is not only welcome, but encouraged – landed in 16th on the world's best bars list. Having opened in 2024, this late-night live-music bar was the first Newtown venue to be granted a 4am licence in more than 100 years. Time Out Sydney Editor, Avril Treasure, says the drinks are weird, wacky and tinged with nostalgia – think Cherry Ripe-inspired cocktails and even Vegemite Martinis. There's a reason Pleasure Club won Best Cocktail Bar at Time Out Sydney ' s Food and Drink Awards 2025 – head down and see why it lives up to the name. This Australian airline has just ranked third-best in the world for customer satisfaction
Qantas is flying the red kangaroo sky-high right now. Just months after being crowned the best airline in the Australia-Pacific region for 2025, it's cracked a global list of the world's highest-rated airlines for customer satisfaction. Considering the endless gripes about flying – from cramped seats and glitchy screens to soggy meals and long delays – scoring a podium finish in this comprehensive new ranking is something to be proud of. To identify the world's top-performing airlines, Sparrow analysed how well the 30 biggest carriers delivered across seven key factors: annual passenger number, destinations served, Skytrax rating, search volume, accident history, lost luggage rate and most importantly, passenger experience. The heaviest weight was given to that last indicator, which reflects customer ratings for comfort, service quality and overall in-flight satisfaction. Topping the list with a near-perfect aggregated score of 99, Singapore Airlines has been crowned number one for customer satisfaction worldwide. Despite flying 18.1 million passengers annually across 79 destinations, it still maintains a five-star Skytrax rating and the highest passenger experience rating of 6.9 out of ten. Cathay Pacific wasn't far behind, scoring an impressive 98. Like Singapore Airlines, it carried 18 million passengers across 88 locations while maintaining its five-star Skytrax score. Australia's very own Qantas finished in third place with a commendable customer satisfaction score of 94. Flying 46 million passengers each year across more than 100 destinations, it strikes a balance of volume and quality. Qantas' 6.7 passenger experience rating and 0.02 per cent lost luggage rate match Cathay Pacific, but it edges ahead with a wider global network and just two reported incidents in the past year. If Qantas can lift its Skytrax rating from four to five stars, it could have a good shot at clinching the top spot in 2026.
