Anger over plan to cover stream on Guernsey walking route
Mr Davison, landlord of La Couture Inn, said: "I was quite shocked, I thought it was an April Fool's joke to cover over the Water Lanes which is at the heart of the community."I understand why they want cyclists to avoid Collings Road but people using it regularly will be uncomfortable with cyclists using it all the time."A spokesperson for ESC said in 2022, a planning condition required it to improve pedestrian and cyclist access between La Couture and Les Ozouets via the Water Lanes. The alternative, Collings Road, was narrow and unsafe, they said.

'Followed every game since Mabbutt wrote me a letter'
This week, we are asking you to share your stories and photos for why you fell in love with is a selection of your submissions: Darren: Being a huge fan of cowboys and indians at the age of seven, I was naturally drawn to Tottenham. Why? Simple - cowboys wore spurs on their boots! So when I discovered that the mighty Tottenham Hotspur were also known as "Spurs", that was it - I was hooked. A lifelong bond was forged there and then (I'm now 52, and still clinging on with all the optimism of a man who has never watched us defend a corner). Send us your pictures and stories here

'My youngest son's middle name is Roy after Keano'
This week, we are asking you to share your stories and photos for why you fell in love with Manchester is a selection of your submissions: Darren: It's May 1976 and as a seven-year-old who liked football, it was time I picked a team. Red has always been my favourite colour so Manchester United became my team. Steve Coppell is still my hero to this day. His signed shirt takes pride of place on my wall. From trying to celebrate quietly in 1999 while my baby son slept, to middle-naming youngest son Roy after Keano, United will always be in my blood, through the good times and the bad. FA throw club OUT of the FA Cup after ‘ridiculous mistake' leads to clash being postponed
A CLUB have been thrown out of the FA for a "ridiculous mistake". Guernsey FC drew 1-1 with Bedfont Sports Club on Saturday in the extra preliminary round. 2 It was their first competitive match of the 2025-26 season for the Green Lions. And it was also their first FA Cup match for eight years due to financial troubles. But Tuesday's replay in London did not go ahead as planned. That is because Guernsey admitted there had been an error with the registration of one of their players. Initially, the replay was pushed back by a week to get to the bottom of the issue. However, Guernsey have now confirmed they were booted out of this season's FA Cup. A club statement said: "We have just received official confirmation that the club has been removed from this season's competition, and that Bedfont Sports Club FC has been awarded the tie and will progress to the Preliminary Round." Bedfont Sports will host Kingstonian on August 16. But fans could not believe the costly blunder. One said: "Schoolboy error." Another replied: "After all the hype... a real big let down." A third more compassionate supporter added: "Unfortunately, it happens. You can't really blame club admins as all are normally volunteers - it's happened twice to my local club." But a final user wrote: "What a ridiculous mistake to make @GuernseyFC. Obviously haven't learnt anything from watching Jersey's similar mistake last season?" That is in reference to fellow Channel Island side Jersey Bulls being docked three points for fielding a suspended player. The punishment denied Jersey the Combined Counties Premier South league title - but they did still get promoted through the play-offs. The first round proper of this season's FA Cup is on the first weekend of November, with Premier League and Championship clubs entering in the third round in early January. The final takes place at Wembley on May 16, 2026 - with Crystal Palace the current holders after stunning Manchester City in last season's showpiece. 2
