The death of a man on a canal boat in Warwickshire is being treated as unexplained, police have services were called to a "medical emergency" on a section of Coventry Canal on Coleshill Road in Atherstone shortly before 16:30 BST on Monday.A man, aged in his 70s, was pronounced dead on board the boat, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police added the man's next of kin had been informed and his death was being treated as "unexplained" at this time. That's when she noticed a white car pull up and a well-dressed man walking over to her. It was June 2002 in South Carolina, when Robert Evonitz approached her, claiming to be selling magazines. He asked if her parents were home, and Kara said it wasn't her house but her friend's mum was inside working. Advertisement Robert approached her, saying he would give her the magazines but as he stepped closer she noticed a pistol gun in his right hand that he held to her neck. She recalled: "He told me if I screamed, he would shoot me. "I was in disbelief, I couldn't really believe it." Kara assumed people would see what was happening as she was on a neighbourhood street and made her way to his car. From that point on, Kara repeated one thing to herself 'gather information, wait for him to be complacent, escape.' The Dull Truth About Serial Killers She attempted to pay attention to each turn he made, but once they got on the motorway, she realised there was no point in keeping track. Robert then drove off the motorway, pulling up at a secluded spot where he bound Kara's wrists, gagged her and placed the lid on the container she was squeezed into. "He wanted my fear and he wanted me to cry and he wanted me to yell and scream. And I wasn't going to give him that satisfaction." Kara remembers that he began to drive again, stopping after 20 minutes and carrying the container, which she was trapped in, inside his flat. "I could hear people like the sounds of people, cars, people talking. I could hear that outside of the container," she explained. On the way, Kara did everything she could to memorise every detail of what she saw, from the magnets on his fridge to the caged animals he owned. Advertisement Kara even disarmed him by offering to clean his flat, but it didn't work. Instead, he ordered her to remove her clothes and to take a shower, then he sexually assaulted her. With a gun next to the bedside table, Kara had no choice but to do what he said. Robert often asked Kara why she was so calm and didn't seem upset, he even promised to let her go. Advertisement What Kara didn't know at the time was that Robert had already abducted three other girls, and killed them. As the hours passed, Kara was allowed in the bathroom and she noticed items a woman would use in there. She studied each one, realising the hairbrush was filled with red hairs that weren't from Robert, but his wife's, who was on holiday at the time. When she would call, Kara was under strict instructions to get back into the container and not say a word. Advertisement "He put me in the container again and gagged me and tied me and put the lid on. I was in there for at least 30 minutes," she said. "I began frantically sobbing at one point because I couldn't breathe. He came in there and was very angry and asked me, 'What is the problem? Why are you sobbing? I told you you can't make noise.' 'I told him it's because I couldn't breathe. So at that point, he took the gag out of my mouth and he left the top off. And he said, 'I'm going to do this, but you can't scream.' And so he went back and continued his phone conversation. 'And I didn't make a noise. And I just stayed there." Advertisement After the phone call, he made Kara take Valium and cannabis with him before tying her to the bed by her legs and arms. He fell asleep beside her. THE ESCAPE Miraculously, Kara woke up before him in the morning and she thought: "This is it. This is the only chance you're going to get." Kara worked carefully to free her wrists using her teeth to cut the ties and then was able to get her ankles free as well, all while Robert slept beside her in the same bed. She moved to the living room, where she was able to put her clothes back on and grab her bag before unbolting the two locks on the front door and running. Advertisement 'I know he has the gun right beside him, and he's going to see me running, and he's going to shoot me in the back — that's all I could think,' she told People. 'And I was like, 'You know what? It doesn't matter because I'm out, and at least someone will be able to find him.'" As she rushed out of the block of flats, she saw a white car and flagged them down. " I had handcuffs dangling from one hand and I had a leg restraint on one of my legs. I jumped out in front of the car and there were two men in it," she recalled. Advertisement "They were bewildered. They looked at me like, 'What is going on? And I said, 'I was just kidnapped. I was raped. Take me to the police station.'" Kara's mum was called and told her daughter had been found, 18 hours after the kidnapping, and quickly went to collect her. But Kara's determination to live and find Robert meant she was able to take the police back to the apartment block and find him. While there, they came across a maintenance worker for the block of flats, and she described what she saw inside, such as a woman with red hair and lots of animals. Instead of being arrested, a car chase ensued and Robert decided to evade justice by killing himself with a gunshot to the head. At first, Kara was angry he wouldn't face the justice system, but after a few days realised it was better than having to re-live through what happened to her. He was found guilty of murdering 15 patients in 2000, but the Shipman Inquiry examined his crimes and identified 218 victims, 80 per cent of whom were elderly women. Fred West was found guilty of killing 12 but it's believed he was responsible for many more deaths. SERIAL KILLER Robert had killed three other girls; Sofia Silva and sisters Kati and Kristin Lisk. The girls, who ranged in age from 12 to 16, all went missing in the mid-1990s. Richard kept newspaper clippings about their abductions in a locker in his apartment, and authorities later found both fingerprint and DNA evidence connecting him to the crimes. Because of Kara's information that led to their killers' identity, she was awarded the £112,000 which she used to put herself through university. Iftikhar said Ms Walsh would be taken from her hotel room, gang raped and set on fire. The 37-year-old later threatened to blow-up the five-star hotel at which the cabin crew were set to stay. A court heard this week that no action was taken against Iftikhar when the plane landed in Pakistan and he was only arrested at his expensive detached home in Iver, Buckinghamshire, after his holiday. Iftikhar was finally caged for 15 months at Isleworth Crown Court on Tuesday after admitting making threats to kill and racially aggravated harassment. But the judge took into account Iftikhar's six previous convictions, including a common assault, a record she described as "lengthy and appalling". It has now emerged that the father-of-three lived a flashy lifestyle and was keen on showing off his wealth. He boasted a range of expensive cars on his driveway in Buckinghamshire including a Range Rover, Bentley and Rolls-Royce. He lived in the six-bedroom home with wife Erum Salman, 38, and together the pair run a company which provides training to businesses working in customer service and manufacturing. But back in Pakistan, Iftikhar has another wife, supermodel and actress Abeer Rizvi, with whom he has been married for five years. Rizvi, who has more than half a million followers on TikTok, has shared loved up videos of the couple looking happier than ever, cuddled up together or attending film premieres together. The couple appear to enjoy an extravagant lifestyle, spending time on yachts, enjoying luxury holidays or driving around in expensive cars. But the tycoon would still be seen putting on a flashy front on social media, and was seen posing in front of a royal blue Rolls-Royce kitted out with a white leather interior in one photo. Other extravagant snaps show a number of his pricey motors parked outside the home of the Buckinghamshire property. A neighbour of Iftikhar, who asked that their identity remain anonymous, told the Daily Mail: "He's definitely very flash, someone who likes to flaunt his wealth. "How he made his money is beyond me, he ran a recruitment consultancy but I didn't really tend to see him leave for work. He was around the house most of the time. "One thing he did like was cars. He owned a Bentley and Range Rover, but he'd also drive different cars on a temporary basis - usually expensive looking ones." The neighbour added that Iftikhar would sometimes come back in the night "revving the engine of his car and blaring music" after going out. Another local said: "He'd usually tear down this road in a Range Rover or some other powerful car. The business mogul previously owned an aviation recruitment business, however it went into administration owing more than £11m to HMRC and £6.885m to HSBC. The company, called Core Labour Supply Limited (CLSL), had a rapid rise and quickly started having a turnover of almost £90m in 2022. It meant Iftikhar was able to continue enjoying his taste for the high life - paying himself dividends of almost £1m a year between 2018 and 2021. The business, though, was badly affected by Covid and two of Iftikhar's biggest customers, which accounted for 35 per cent, left. The company couldn't meet repayment terms with the HMRC, forcing them into administration. Despite this, Iftikhar, who now owns a training company called Staffing Match, still continued to live a luxurious lifestyle. SICK RANT The recruitment boss was jailed for 15 months after his tirade of death threats and racist abuse at cabin crew on an eight-hour flight. Prosecutor Abdul Kapadia said Iftikhar was drinking champagne at the onboard bar and leant over to get his own ice. He said: "When told to stop, the defendant became irate, and started to film cabin crew with his phone, telling them: 'Do not tell me what to do you b***h. "When asked by the cabin crew to return to his seat, he then said: 'Don't tell me what to do you racist f***ing b***h. I know where you are from in Cardiff." He continued to call Ms Walsh a "f***ing b***h" before his escalating behaviour sparked a possible flight diversion to Turkey. Mr Kapadia added: "His wife was ashamed. His three children were also on-board, and other crew members were called to assist, but the defendant continued shouting and swearing. "He was slurring his words, with his voice raised." The out-of-control passenger then told cabin crew he would blow up the floor of their hotel. "The defendant knew the specific hotel, but also the hotel room numbers, and threatened the cabin crew with this," Mr Kapadia told the court. "He told Ms Walsh: 'You will be dead on the floor of your hotel'. "Iftikhar shouted at Ms Walsh and said: 'The white sheep sh**ging b***h will be dead. The floor of your hotel will be blown up and it will disappear. "He told Ms Walsh: 'You will be dragged by your hair from your room and gang raped and set on fire'." 'IT HAS BROKEN ME' In an impact statement, Angie Walsh said she was forced to take off 14 months and the altercation "changed my life enormously". "I can't quite believe that one passenger has had this much of an impact on my, my job, my career and my life," she said. "I am a strong brave, happy stewardess, and loved my job. I am well known within the company. "But I had to take 14 months off work. "I have been flying with Virgin Atlantic for 37 years. I was working when all flights were grounded on 9/11, and I've even flown into a warzone. But this incident has broken me. "But I don't feel strong enough anymore. I was abused for eight hours and 15 mins. It has broken me. It was a very personal attack. "I was doing everything in my power to protect passengers and the crew from him. I felt exposed and vulnerable, especially as we were 39,000 feet in the air. There was nowhere for me to go. "There was one moment where I felt I could not cope. I went into the cockpit and had a meltdown. I said to the captain I don't know what to do. "I was traumatised by the threat of being gang raped. Never in my entire career flying for 37 years have I not been sure what to do. "I have had the best career in the world for 37 years. But he has taken that away from me." Iftikhar admitted making threats to kill and racially aggravated harassment in relation to Ms Walsh. He was cleared of assault by beating and threats to kill in relation to another flight attendant, Mr Merchant.
