Watch: New footage shows Trump pocketing Club World Cup medal

US President Donald Trump was spotted pocketing one of Chelsea's Club World Cup winners' medals for himself after their 3-0 triumph over Paris Saint-Germain in New Jersey last Sunday.
Trump presented the Blues players with the medals before slipping the last one in his jacket pocket to take back to The White House.

Chelsea captain Reece James looked confused as he seemingly asked 'are you staying?', to which Trump nodded and they all got on with the celebrations.
Before pocketing the medal, Infantino looked ready to take the accolade off Trump but after a short remark he gave the US President a thumbs up which must have meant it was a spare in the end.
The Chelsea stars all seemed a bit bewildered by Trump's involvement in celebrating their success on the pitch but they did not let it effect their enthusiasm. Reece James and Cole Palmer were equally confused by Trump's presence. Pic:After the trophy lift, Reece James told reporters: 'They told me that he was going to present the trophy and exit the stage. I thought he was going to exit the stage, but he wanted to stay.'
Cole Palmer added that he was left 'a bit confused' by Trump's presence and eagle-eyed viewers seemed to spot him mouthing 'what's he doing?' when the head of the US didn't budge from the stand.

Trump did eventually leave the Chelsea side to it as he claimed to DAZN reporters that he brought America back from the 'dead' and once again took any chance he could get to put down the previous administration.
He did also discuss the sporting aspect of the tournament by saying the Club World Cup was about 'unity', 'everybody getting together' and 'a lot of love between countries.'
Trump added: 'I guess this is probably the most international sport, so it can really bring the world together.'
He also joked about renaming soccer to football in the States.
Many of the Chelsea stars will likely be back in the US next year when the country hosts the 2026 FIFA World Cup, although if some of them do make it all the way again, they may need to be quick in collecting their medals.

Paul McGinley tees off with Donald Trump as US President opens new course in Scotland

The former European Ryder Cup captain and ex-DP World Tour board member joined the US President, his son Eric and his Sky Sports Golf colleague Rich Beem in hitting the opening tee shots on the New Course in Menie. More than 40 big names in the golf business world, as well as former footballers Robbie Fowler, Jim Leighton, Gianfranco Zola, and Andrei Shevchenko, teed it up at the venue, which is one of 15 Trump golf properties. McGinley recently expressed his disappointment that Trump-owned Turnberry is currently out in the cold when it comes to The Open rota. Speaking on the Indo Sport Podcast, McGinley said: "I think the best course is Turnberry and I think it's a real shame that we're not playing it." He added: "I know people have a lot of views on Trump, but I'll tell you what, he's done a hell of a job with the work he has done in Turnberry." Trump also owns Doonbeg, which is just 20 miles from Lahinch, where McGinley was host when it staged the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open in 2019. The Clare venue is understood to be on track to host the Amgen Irish Open next year. US pharmaceutical giants Horizon Therapeutics took over as Irish Open sponsors in 2022 with a deal to back the event until 2027. Horizon was subsequently acquired by Amgen, an American multinational biopharmaceutical company, in 2023. Amgen, which has major pharmaceutical manufacturing plants in Ireland, took over the sponsorship of the Irish Open, which will be held at The K Club in September. Golfers Pádraig Harrington, Shane Lowry, Séamus Power and Brendan Lawlor are ambassadors for Amgen, which could be seriously affected by President Trump's trade war. As the Irish Independent reported this week, there is confusion in Government and the EU about what products will be covered by the baseline 15pc tariff, which activates on Friday following the US trade deal. It is still unclear if pharmaceuticals, which are critical to the Irish economy, will be included in the 15pc bracket or if they could yet be hit with a higher levy.

Cork City confirm Cathal O'Sullivan ruled out for the season with ACL injury

Cork City winger Cathal O'Sullivan has been ruled out for the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The 18-year-old previously damaged his ACL in 2023. 'We are all absolutely gutted for Cathal to have suffered this injury,' said Cork City manager Gerard Nash. 'As everybody knows, he is a really talented player with a very promising future, so this is a big setback for him, but we will all rally around him and support him. I have no doubt that he will come back stronger from this, and we will all support him in doing so.' READ MORE O'Sullivan had interest from clubs in England and Europe before sustaining the initial knee injury over two years ago. The Republic of Ireland under-21 international was expected to move abroad when his contracted ended in December. Meanwhile, Kerry FC have released goalkeeper Mathyas Randriamamy and defender Shane Maroodza. 'Unfortunately, their values and principles didn't match the standards of the club,' a short club statement read. Randriamamy, who came through the Paris Saint-Germain academy, started the last three games for Colin Healy's side after being signed in February. Maroodza only arrived in Kerry on July 25th before making his debut in last Friday's 3-0 loss to UCD at Mounthawk Park.

Joao Felix departs Chelsea and joins Ronaldo at Al Nassr

PORTUGUESE FORWARD JOAO Felix has signed a two-year deal with Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr, where he will join Cristiano Ronaldo, the club announced Tuesday. Al Nassr have paid Chelsea a fee worth a reported €50.5 million (£43.7m) to secure Felix's services. Felix, now 25, made a blockbuster move from Benfica to Atletico Madrid in 2019, but has since seen his fortunes decline. 'I'm here to spread joy. Let's win together,' said Felix in a video posted on the Riyadh club's X account. A separate post said he had signed until 2027. Advertisement Felix remains one of the most expensive transfers in history, following his move to Atletico for €127.7m six years ago. He has since failed to score more than 10 goals a season, despite stints at Barcelona, AC Milan and Chelsea. According to Arryadia, a Riyadh sports newspaper, Felix will earn €8.7m a year. Saudi Arabia has shaken up football by spending heavily on stars from Europe, starting with Ronaldo's arrival in 2023, and the conservative desert nation will host the World Cup in 2034. Many of the signings have been ageing stars, but Felix bucks the trend along with Mateo Retegui, 26, the Serie A top-scorer who joined Al Qadsiah last week. French international Theo Hernandez, 27, left AC Milan for Al Hilal in a reported €25m deal earlier this month. Top coaches have also been lured to Saudi Arabia, including Italy's Simone Inzaghi who led Al Hilal to an upset win over Manchester City at the Club World Cup. At Al Nassr, Felix will be working under Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, who was sacked by Al Hilal in May following their defeat in the Asian Champions League semi-finals. – © AFP 2025
