‘Cinema Bandi put me on the map; Keedaa Cola sealed my identity' Rag Mayur
From being a studious state-ranker and earning a master's degree in the US to building a tech career, Rag Mayur left it all behind to follow his dream of acting. Best known for his roles in Cinema Bandi and Keedaa Cola, he's now juggling a musical biopic, a comedy entertainer, and the upcoming film Paradha and TV series The Family Man 3.
'Life's been quite full lately, with multiple projects in the works — and there's no slowing down,' he says.
'Growing up, movies were my only escape'
Born and raised near RTC Crossroads, which he calls 'the Mecca of Telugu cinema,' Mayur's love for films began early. 'My parents were humble clerks. Dad worked with the Handicapped Welfare Department and mom was a typist with TSRTC. We couldn't afford family vacations, so movies became my only escape.
I was obsessed with Shah Rukh Khan. I'd try to mimic him, dress like him,' he says with a laugh.
'Everything changed after my short film went viral'
But acting, for Rag Mayur, was never the plan. 'I topped my boards, got a state rank of 755 in EAMCET, and enrolled in Osmania University for a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering. After a stint in the US for a master's degree at the University of Delaware, I returned to work in Bengaluru. But the film bug was always there,' he says.

His entry into films came after years of making short films, acting in theatre, and going to countless auditions.
'A short film of mine, Raama Kanavemira, went viral in 2016. That gave me direction,' he recalls.
'Working in Keeda Cola was a turning point'
What followed was a slow but steady climb, and his big break came with Cinema Bandi. 'It was shot in 2019 and released in 2021 on OTT. Overnight, people started recognising me.'
After that, he had roles in Modern Love Hyderabad and Gandhi Tatha Chettu, but it was Keedaa Cola with Tharun Bhascker that gave him real recognition in theaters. 'I got called, and it was surreal. The trailer alone led to offers like Paradha and Sivarapalli.
'
'Working with Manoj Bajpayee was a surreal experience'
Just as his Telugu film career was picking up momentum, a chance came his way to step into Bollywood. 'One day, DK called me and asked if I'd be interested in playing a small role in The Family Man Season 3.
I jumped with joy. For someone shaped by Hindi cinema, it felt like taking baby steps into a world that first sparked my love for movies.' he says. The real treat, however, came on set, sharing screen space with Manoj Bajpayee.
'I was obviously starstruck.' After the shoot, Mayur was stunned when Manoj praised his performance to DK, complimenting the nuances he brought to the role. 'I was in a trance. Later, I even asked him for an autograph. That's probably the most treasured validation of my journey so far.'

His look sets the tone of his sinister character in the film. Reacting to the look, netizens have shared their excitement for the film. In the comment section, a user wrote, 'Zabardast.' '1000 cr loading,' another user predicted the fate of the film. Someone commented, 'Happy Birthday @duttsanjay Sanju Baba can't wait for ur screen presence & swag in @rajasaabmovie.' Yet another called Sanjay Dutt's look 'top notch' in the comments. The Raja Saab is touted to be a horror comedy film. It is written and directed by Maruthi. Apart from Prabhas and Sanjay Dutt in the lead, the film also stars Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Nayanthara, and Kiara Advani. It marks Malavika's Telugu debut. The film was initially set for its release on 10 April. Later, the release was postponed. It will hit the big screens on 5 December. The Raja Saab will clash with Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar's much-anticipated film, Dhurandhar. Interestingly, Sanjay Dutt is a part of both films. Talking about it, Sanjay told the media at a release event: 'It's amazing. Two different kinds of roles I'm playing. 'Dhurandhar' is different, and 'The Raja Saab' is different. I don't want the films to clash, and I hope they don't. Every film has its own journey. 'I'm trying to learn Telugu because I'm doing a film with Prabhas. He makes me eat a lot! He's one of the most amazing people and a great actor. I love Chiranjeevi sir, he did Munna Bhai here. I share a great relationship with him.'

Kingdom: Who is Bhagyashri Borse? Vijay Deverakonda's heroine has a strong connection with Ajay Devgn
Bhagyashri Borse will soon be seen opposite Vijay Deverakonda in Kingdom, one of the biggest releases of the year. It is slated to hit the screens on July 31 and has created a buzz in the industry with its intense trailer. It also marks Vijay's first collaboration with Bhagyashri, who is regarded as one of Telugu cinema's bright upcoming stars. Born in 1999 in Aurangabad, the self-confessed Shah Rukh Khan fan made her acting debut with the Hindi film Yaariyaan 2 (2023). The young lady was also seen in Chandu Champion with Kartik Aaryan, which did not do well at the box office. Thereafter, she entered Telugu cinema with Mr Bachchan (2024). The film flopped but Bhagyashri emerged as a sensation with her bold screen presence. Interestingly, Mr Bachchan had a special connection with Ajay Devgn. Bhagyashri Borse's first Telugu movie was a remake of Raid Bhagyashri Borse, Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom co-star, made her Tollywood debut with Mr Bachchan. The film was a remake of Ajay Devgn's Raid (2018). Mr Bachchan featured her as the leading lady opposite Ravi Teja and was released last August. Much like Raid, it centred on an Income Tax officer who is tasked with the responsibility of conducting a raid on the mansion of a local political leader. However, unlike Devgn's version, it featured commercial elements and a full-fledged romantic sub-plot. Mr Bachchan was directed by Harish Shankar and also featured Jagapathi Babu in a key role. It failed to meet the standards set by the Bollywood hit and ended up being a disaster. Shot on a budget of Rs 70 crore, Mr Bachchan earned just Rs 7 crore in its full run (as per Pinkvilla) and also received negative reviews with critics panning the treatment. Are you ready for Kingdom? Coming to the present, Kingdom has the potential to be a game-changer for Bhagyashri. The spy thriller is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri of Jersey fame. According to reports in the Telugu media, she has a 'meaty' role in the film and it will add depth to the narrative. The plot centres on a constable (played by Vijay Deverakonda) who goes on a mission to rescue/find his brother. Satyadev plays the Arjun Reddy star's brother in the film and something happens to him in Sri Lanka. Kingdom is produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya. Anirudh Ravichander serves as the music director. Kingdom is set to hit the screens on July 31.

Urvashi Rautela roasts herself in hilarious self-aware ad about being 1st; fans say ‘she understood the assignment'
Urvashi Rautela has once again created a buzz on social media, but this time, not for her red carpet appearance or a cryptic remark. The Bollywood actor is now calling herself the 'first person after Shri Pythagoras ji to contribute to maths' in a hilariously self-aware mock interview ad, and the internet is loving it. In a new ad, Urvashi Rautela portrays a comically exaggerated financial expert, showcasing her ability to turn negativity into viral content. Urvashi pokes fun at herself in new ad In the new KFC ad, Urvashi plays an exaggerated version of herself, a delusional, overconfident financial guru spouting outlandish claims. From solving a new math problem, which doubled her finances, to declaring that she owns a bank and is on Warren Buffett's radar, who is telling her she is the next finance minister now, the satire is deliberate and sharp. At one point, her assistant brings her food midway through the interview, prompting her to casually suggest launching 'UFC – Urvashi Fried Chicken.' Even her beloved Labubu dolls, which previously accompanied her to Wimbledon, make a cheeky cameo. Internet reacts What's winning fans over, however, is the strategy behind the humour. Rather than shy away from trolling, Urvashi leans into the absurdity, embracing her online image and flipping the narrative in her favour. Fans were quick to catch on. 'She was trolling y'all all this freakin' time! Such an icon,' one user wrote. Another said, 'Finally, she understood the assignment!' Others praised her for being a 'marketing genius' and turning negative publicity into viral brilliance. "Great strategy. Did you propose this to KFC, or did their marketing people do?" asked a fan. A fan wrote, "Using her trolling to her merit!!! I love this queen". 'When people roast you for something, you use the roast in your own favour,' a comment read. Urvashi's latest projects Urvashi was seen in the Telugu film Daaku Maharaaj alongside Balakrishna and Sanjay Dutt in January. She also starred in Jaat with Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda, which was released in April this year.
