‘The Pitt' Will Make Its Linear Premiere on TNT This Fall

Yahoo14-05-2025

As expected, a second run of Max's (soon to once again be 'HBO Max's') smash freshman medical series 'The Pitt' will make its way to TNT this fall, exposing the drama to linear viewers who perhaps haven't caught it quite yet on streaming.
The TNT run of 'The Pitt' is meant to serve as a bit of a snack for viewers in preparation for Season 2 of the series. Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO of the Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks, announced the news on Wednesday during her portion of the Warner Bros. Discovery 2025 upfronts — along with the rest of her early plans for the networks, which she added to her oversight in January.

Dungey and her team aren't yet ready to share how they plan to roll out the 15 episodes of 'The Pitt' on TV (remember, it's produced in a real-time format like '24'), but she does say she wants to make sure it gets an 'eventized'-level launch.
'When we put Max programming on the T-nets, we want to make sure that we're telling the audience, 'this is something special, you want to tune in for this,'' she said. 'And so we want to make sure that the schedule reflects that kind of event feel, and that we can make it feel consistent. And so people will hopefully tune in, and we can build a real cadence around it.'
News of 'The Pitt' on TNT isn't a complete surprise; HBO Max boss Casey Bloys referenced it recently in an interview he did with Vulture. But this is still the first time it's been officially announced that the show will indeed make its way to its linear WBD sibling.
It's also not the first HBO Max show to get a run on the Turner nets, which has become a bit more common. HBO's 'True Detective: North Country' recently ran on TNT, while the first season of 'Hacks' aired on TBS. Coming up, the first season of 'Peacemaker' is also expected to run on TNT ahead of its Season 2 launch.
'Those were really good experiments for us,' Dungey said. 'We're learning a little bit about how to platform the shows, how to make them feel more like an event. These have been some very good learnings for us as we go towards The Pitt launch in Q4 this year. Doing things like that, it's great for us, and it also is helping Max as well. If it drives viewers to Max for the new season, that's a win/win.'
This is a unique case where, Dungey serves as the seller of 'The Pitt' as the head of Warner Bros. TV. And now, as head of TNT, she's also the acquirer of the show's second run.
The series has been a critical success, and a breakout hit for Max as it gave the streamer a 15-episode medical juggernaut. Noah Wyle, Tracey Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell and Shabana Azeez star. Each episode follows Wyle's character, Dr. Robby, during his 15-hour shift as the chief attendant in a Pittsburgh hospital emergency room.
R. Scott Gemmill created the series and serves as an executive producer. Wyle is also an executive producer along with John Wells and Erin Jontow of John Wells Productions, Michael Hissrich and Simran Baidwan. Warner Bros. Television, where John Wells Productions is under an overall deal, is the studio.

Lisa Kudrow Reveals Why She Might 'Avoid' Joining 'The White Lotus' Season 4

Lisa Kudrow revealed that she would love to work with Mike White during a conversation with Parker Posey for Variety's Actors on Actors series When Posey said Kudrow should join season 4 of The White Lotus, the Friends alum expressed hesitation for taking on a role that is "too dark" Kudrow also revealed that she might not be White's "cup of tea," but joked that she'd let Posey know if she was offered a partLisa Kudrow might've just landed her next role. The Friends alum, 61, sat down with Parker Posey for the June 6 episode of Variety's Actors on Actors series, where they reflected on their careers and opened up about recent projects. As they talked about Posey's fan-favorite role on season 3 of The White Lotus, she questioned if Kudrow would join the next installment of the iconic series. 'Work with Mike White?' Kudrow replied, naming the show's creator. 'Yes. That's a quick answer. I love Mike White.' Although her interactions with White have been limited to hanging out with him at a party, Kudrow revealed that she is also a big fan of his work. 'Brad's Status was my favorite movie of that year,' she said of the 2017 comedy, which White wrote, directed and acted in. 'I emailed him to let him know because I had to. It was so good, I had to, and I don't do that a lot.' 'Lisa, you should be in season 4 [of The White Lotus],' Posey, 56, chimed in. 'You need to be a part.' Gushing over her character Victoria Ratliff, a wealthy North Carolina wife and mother of three who is unaware that her husband's business is under investigation during their vacation in Thailand, added that Kudrow needs to experience the power of the show's writers as they uncover 'the complexity of people.' 'Well, we'll see,' Kudrow joked. 'I'm not asked, but I'll have to let you know.' When Posey highlighted White's unpredictable storylines, the No Good Deed star admitted that she 'might not be his cup of tea.' 'Which is allowed to happen,' she noted. 'But no, I'm a huge Mike White fan.' 'I know you're his cup of tea,' Posey interjected. 'I'm going to text him after this to ensure that you know that you are!' Still, Kudrow had some hesitation about how she would fit into the series. 'I do get nervous about inhabiting things that are too dark,' she confessed. 'I try to avoid that.' Variety confirmed that The White Lotus has been renewed for a fourth season in January 2025, a month before the premiere of season 3, which broke records with 6.2 million viewers tuning in for the finale in April. McDaniel: Trump, Musk feud like Ross and Rachel on ‘Friends'

Former Republican National Committee (RNC) chairwoman Ronna McDaniel equated during a recent TV appearance the bitter feud between President Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk to a cyclical relationship between Ross and Rachel on the sitcom 'Friends.' 'I'm hoping it's like a Ross and Rachel thing. That it's just a break and they come back together. You know, we all panicked when they broke up on 'Friends,'' McDaniel said Thursday night appearance on NewsNation 'Cuomo,' adding that she hopes they 'come back together.' Musk, who heads six companies, has been slamming Trump's 'big, beautiful bill' that is currently moving through Congress. He amped up the rhetoric on Thursday, taking direct jabs at Trump by backing a call for the president to be impeached and accusing him of being in the Jeffrey Epstein files. Trump threatened to do away with the contracts that Musk's companies have with the federal government. Earlier on Thursday, Trump at the White House said that he was 'very surprised' and 'very disappointed' in Musk over his criticism of the massive spending bill that passed the House last month. 'I think Trump's – you've seen Trump forgive people who have said things about him. You've seen these two men work very closely together. Elon was a big part of this election,' the former RNC chair told host Chris Cuomo. 'He came in, their businesses have both suffered, they've been attacked, they've taken a lot of personal hits for coming out politically, and I hope in the end they call a truce.' Cuomo then asked McDaniel if she thinks that both men are 'worth more or less than before the election?' 'I think they're both worth more,' she said in response. Trump is looking to move past the fallout. Officials close to the White House did not rule out the possibility of the two men fixing their relationship.

Attenborough's letter delights five-year-old superfan

A five-year-old boy's dream came true when he received a letter from his hero, Sir David Attenborough. Max Evans-Browning from Neyland, Pembrokeshire, drew 99 animals to mark the renowned British biologist's 99th birthday. His endeavours reached "far and wide" and even caught the attention of Sir David himself. After receiving a reply, Max's mum Samantha said he was "doing little flips" on the bed in excitement. Boy draws 99 animals for David Attenborough's 99th birthday Attenborough at 99 delivers 'greatest message he's ever told' "It's literally been a month and I was starting to think we weren't going to get anything," she said. But when Samantha arrived home on Thursday she found a letter which was addressed to Max. "When I picked him up, I acted really casual," she said. When she gave him the letter, she said his eyes immediately went to Sir David's printed name at the bottom. "He can read really well, and he saw the name. "He was doing little flips on the bed and shouting that his card had been in David Attenborough's hands. It was the reaction that I wanted. "Trying to get him to sleep then was an absolute nightmare." Samantha said they would be framing the letter - in which Sir David wrote he "greatly enjoyed" seeing Max's drawings - and hanging it "pride of place" in Max's animal-themed bedroom. "It was so nice that he had hand-written the whole thing. It made that bit more special." She said the reaction from the media and public since she shared Max's drawings had been overwhelming. "People have been so nice, we've seen all the comments and I'm making Max a photo book of them. "When he watches David Attenborough, of course it's all around the world [so] he couldn't get over how many people from different countries could see [his drawings]. "We're usually quite a private family, but I knew there could be somebody who knew where I could send it, and it just went a little bit mad. He's gone a little bit famous. "He couldn't believe it." Samantha added Max can sometimes lack confidence in his drawing, but the experience had been really good for improving that and had reaffirmed his desire to be "the next David Attenborough". "Obviously we are proud of him, but it's just been nice for him to realise all those people who don't know him have made the effort as well. "It's boosted him even more." Sir David Attenborough: 'The world would be worse off without our stories' Postcard finally arrives 121 years after it was sent
