Pat Tillman's brother arrested after 'potentially intentional' car crash into post office
The brother of late NFL star turned U.S. Army Ranger Pat Tillman was arrested after allegedly driving into a California post office, according to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
The San Jose fire and police departments responded to reports of a vehicle on fire in the lobby of the Almaden Valley Station Post Office shortly after 3 a.m. on July 20, the postal inspection service said in a statement to USA TODAY.
"When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a vehicle had been driven into the post office and caught fire causing the entire building to catch on fire," the San Jose Police Department said in a statement.
Richard Tillman, 44, was taken into custody and booked into the Santa Clara county jail for arson, police said. The motive and circumstances of the crash are still under investigation and police directed further inquiries to the USPS Postal Inspector, the lead investigating agency.
"Postal inspectors are investigating the incident as a potentially intentional act," the postal inspection service said.
Richard Tillman's bail was set at $60,000, according to the jail's inmate booking site. His next court hearing is scheduled for July 23.
About 50 personnel responded to the scene of the fire and it was extinguished with no injuries, according to the San Jose Fire Department. San Jose Fire Battalion Chief Josh Staley told NBC News the two-alarm fire damaged the front of the building and most likely burned some mail.
Pat Tillman played for the Arizona Cardinals, but walked away from a new contract offer to join the U.S. Army Rangers in the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks. Another brother, Kevin, joined with him.
Pat Tillman, who was born in the San Jose area, was killed by friendly fire in 2004 while serving in Afghanistan. An annual race, Pat's Run, is held each spring in Tempe, Arizona, to honor him and raise funds for the Pat Tillman Foundation.

Bengals expected to sign tight end Noah Fant

The addition of Fant will give quarterback Joe Burrow a solid tight end duo. Mike Gesicki is expected to the starter. Fant will be going into his seventh season. Throngs of police pay tribute to officer killed in New York office shooting
NEW YORK (AP) — Police lined up four rows deep in front of a mosque on Thursday to pay respects to a fellow officer who was among the victims of a gunman's rampage at a New York City office tower. With officers stationed for security on rooftops around the Bronx mosque, fire trucks used their ladders to hold a huge American flag over a nearby street ahead of services for Officer Didarul Islam, 36. A flatbed truck carried a digital billboard with photos of him and a commemorative message from his union. Islam was working a department-approved private security detail, in uniform, when he was fatally shot Monday in a midtown Manhattan building that houses the National Football League's headquarters. A security guard, real estate company employee and investment firm executive were also killed. The gunman also wounded a fifth victim, an NFL employee, before killing himself. An immigrant from Bangladesh, Islam was building a career in the nation's largest police force. He served as a school safety agent before becoming a patrol officer less than four years ago. 'He was doing the job that we asked him to do. He put himself in harm's way. He made the ultimate sacrifice,' Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said in the immediate aftermath of the attack. 'He died as he lived. A hero.' Islam was assigned to a precinct in the Bronx, the borough where he lived with his wife and two young sons. His wife is expecting the birth of their third child soon. After Thursday's viewings and a prayer service at the Parkchester Jame Masjid, Islam will be buried at a cemetery in Totowa, New Jersey. Another victim, Julia Hyman, was buried following an emotional service Wednesday at a Manhattan synagogue. The 27-year-old Cornell University graduate had worked for Rudin Management, which owns the building. Funeral arrangements for the two others killed, security guard Aland Etienne and investment firm executive Wesley LePatner, have not been made public. Police identified the gunman as Shane Tamura, a 27-year old former high school football player who most recently worked in a Las Vegas casino's surveillance department. Authorities say he drove to Manhattan because he believed he had a brain disease linked to contact sports and accused the NFL of hiding the dangers of playing football. Officials said he was heading for the NFL's office but took the wrong elevator and went by mistake to another floor that housed Rudin Management's offices. The wounded NFL employee happened to be in the lobby when Tamura was firing there. Davante Adams is a top-10 WR in Madden 26, but Puka Nacua is not
Does Nacua deserve to be one of the 10 best WRs in Madden this year? On paper, the Los Angeles Rams appear to have one of the best wide receiver tandems in the NFL. Davante Adams joins Puka Nacua in Los Angeles as a top weapon for Matthew Stafford, looking to continue his reign as a premier wideout in football. The ratings gurus at EA Sports still view Adams as a star receiver because he has one of the highest overall ratings for a wideout in the game. Adams is a 90 overall in 'Madden NFL 26', which is the 10th-highest at his position, just behind Drake London (91). EA only revealed the top 10 players at each position on Thursday and Puka Nacua's name was noticeably absent from the list of receivers. While we don't yet know his initial rating, he isn't one of the 10 best wideouts. ESPN polled NFL executives, coaches and scouts from around the league this offseason and asked them to rank the top receivers for 2025. Nacua and Adams both fell outside the top 10, only earning recognition as honorable mentions. It seems both players are on the fringe of being top-10 receivers in the eyes of personnel evaluators around the NFL, as well as EA Sports' ratings experts. Nacua probably doesn't get as much praise as he deserves because he was injured last season, but he was third in the NFL in receiving yards per game (90.0) and nearly eclipsed 1,000 yards despite only playing 11 games. Adams is an established star at wide receiver but you could make the case that Nacua is in for a better season in 2025 if healthy. Whatever his initial Madden rating is, it should be on the rise throughout the year.
