Boston Rob Turned Down ‘Survivor 50' Offer Because ‘I Wanted My Spot to Go to Someone Who Deserved Another Chance,' Tells Fans: ‘Don't Be Mad'
'Survivor' announced its cast this week for the show's 50th season, but not every fan was too pleased with who got invited to come back. While the return of 'The White Lotus' creator Mike White and fan favorites like Cirie Fields and Ozzy Lusth generated excitement, the omission of iconic players like Rob Mariano (aka Boston Rob), Parvati Shallow and more left many fans scratching their heads as they wondered why so many players from older seasons of 'Survivor' were not included.
Boston Rob, whose reality show career has flourished in recent years with appearances on 'The Traitors' and more, has now taken to Instagram to explain his absence from 'Survivor 50.' It turns out the show did ask him to return, but he made the decision to opt out in order to give other players their chance to return to the 'Survivor' spotlight.

'Wow!!! I got all of your DM's and messages so so many thank you all!! But literally don't be mad,' Boston Rob wrote in a message to fans. ''Survivor' and Jeff Probst early on they called and asked… I just felt like I have played so many times and I am truly fulfilled with my 'Survivor' journey. I wanted my spot to go to someone else that deserved another chance!'
'I've gotten so much out of 'Survivor,'' he added. 'It will always be a part of who I am! I'm eternally grateful. Like I said ..It's gonna be OK. I feel like something good is coming!!!'
Boston Rob is one of 'Survivor's' most prolific contestants and the only one to compete on five seasons of the show. He debuted in Season 4, 'Survivor: Marquesas,' and placed 10th, before returning for the first time in Season 8's 'Survivor: All-Stars' and being the runner-up. He appeared on 'Survivors: Heroes vs. Villains' (13th place) and won 'Survivor: Redemption' before serving as a mentor on 'Survivor: Island.' His last appearance on the show was Season 40, 'Survivor: Winners at War.'
'Survivor 50' will feature 24 returning players and will premiere on CBS in Spring 2026. The milestone anniversary season promises to 'push the series into uncharted territory and impact the players like never before.' For the first time, the game is also being planned by the fans. Earlier this year, fans were able to vote on key elements of the game, including on whether there will be idols, whether fire making will remain and whether the live finale and reunion show will return in Los Angeles. The 'Survivor 50' contestants will compete for a $1 million cash prize.

Man arrested after three police officers injured
A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent after three police officers were seriously assaulted. Officers attended a property in Gossops Drive, Crawley, at about 14:30 BST on Saturday, to arrest a suspect in an ongoing investigation. The suspect resisted arrest and assaulted the officers, causing significant injuries, before fleeing to a nearby property, Sussex Police said. Following a negotiation, the suspect – a 43-year-old man from Crawley – was arrested and taken into custody, where he remains. All three officers have been taken to hospital for treatment, the force said. Det Supt Karrie Bohanna said: "Violence towards emergency workers is absolutely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. "Police officers put themselves at risk to protect the public, but they should not expect to be assaulted in the course of their duties. She commended the three officers for their "bravery" and said they would receive the "full support of our police service while they recover". Sussex Police is not seeking anyone else in connection to the incident. Anyone with further information or relevant video footage has been asked to share it with the force. Chris Hemsworth's Thor Video Scares Avengers: Doomsday Fans
Fans of the MCU are on pins and needles as Avengers: Doomsday has entered production. The recently delayed film is bringing back a number of franchise heroes, including Chris Hemsworth's Thor, who might've unintentionally set fans into a tizzy with an innocent video. Earlier this week, the Australia actor published a video looking back on his time as Thor, from 2011's Thor to when we last saw him in 2022's Love & Thunder. It's worth noting the video itself is nearly three years old and originally published before Love's release, but what caught viewers' eye was the description: 'Playing Thor has been one of the greatest honors of my life. For the last 15 years I've held Mjolnir and then Stormbreaker as the God of Thunder, but what made it truly special… was sharing it with all of you. Your passion, your cheers, and your love for this character have meant everything to me. Thank you for making my journey through the Marvel Cinematic Universe unforgettable.. Next up, Doomsday!' The first Thor turns 15 in May 2026 (the same month of Doomsday's original release), so most likely, he just accidentally published it way in advance of that milestone. But the description's wording has longtime fans wondering if this is curtains for the God of Thunder; he's one of three original Avengers still around and alive, he's a father, and he's got Mjolnir again. As the one with the most heroic tenure when we enter Doomsday, the thinking seems to be he's due to go down, same as Tony and Natasha before him. Speaking of Tony, these thoughts are likely enhanced by Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom, the thinking being someone's got to be shocked by seeing this villain wear their friend's face, so why not pull that punch and then kill off Thor to raise the stakes? Hemsworth himself has been mum on the video at time of writing, and we likely won't know what awaits Thor until Doomsday. But death's always the end for the Avengers: Natasha got a final send-off in Black Widow, and Downey and Chris Evans are both coming back as other characters. The same could be true for Hemsworth down the line, or maybe we get a fifth solo movie showing if he got up to any Olympian stuff between Love and Doomsday. Even if Doomsday does kill him off, it won't be the last we see of Hemsworth—even if it's not 'til he's 90, we'll probably see him swing and strike down enemies with Mjolnir or Stormbreaker a few more times.
