Gautam Gambhir's Dressing Room-Shaking Speech Goes Viral, India Star Lauded For Inspiring Act
Speaking in a video by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Gambhir said, "The foundation of this test team will be based on what Rishabh has done for the team. I hate talking about individuals; I have never spoken about individuals in a team sport. You have not only inspired this dressing room, but you have inspired the next generation."

"This is what you have done, and that is a legacy which you have created for yourself and everyone in this dressing room. So very, very well done from everyone. And the country will always be proud of you," he added.
Pant said that his move to bat was a gesture from his side to do whatever it takes to make his team win, and he was not thinking about any personal goals.
"It has been amazing the way they have backed me. The team is under pressure, everything is there, but when the whole country stands behind you for the same cause, that is something, that emotion is difficult to explain. How proud I feel to represent my country. The only message I am going to give my team is, Let us win it, guys. Let us do it for the country," he added.
All-rounder Washington Sundar also noted how swollen Pant's foot was and called him a "son of the country".
"It is very difficult to even put in the feeling that he would be going through in words because he has fractured his toe, and he is in pain no matter what. I even saw his foot; it was swollen badly. So I think for him to even walk around actually takes a lot, but he did a lot more than that. I think the whole country is proud of him, and he is just the son of a country, I would say," he added.
Pant finished the series as the second-highest run-getter currently, with 479 runs in four matches and seven innings at an average of 68.42, with two centuries and three fifties, and runs scored at a strike rate of over 77. His best score is 134, and he scored twin tons at Leeds, becoming the first Indian to do so in a Test.
He broke several records during the series, establishing his reputation as the best wicketkeeper-batter among all Asians, especially in South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia (SENA) nations. He also overtook his predecessor, MS Dhoni, for most Test tons by an Indian wicketkeeper, sealing his legacy as an all-time great already.

India on brink of famous win despite Root, Brook tons as rain takes game to Day 5
LONDON: Rain in the evening session pushed the series deciding final Test to day five after a down and out India managed stay in the game yet again following fine hundreds from Joe Root and Harry Brook that almost sealed the contest for England. Like it has been the case through the English summer, a spirited India found a way to fight back through their undeterred spirit after England needed just 57 runs to complete the chase at tea. Root (105) and Brook (111 off 98) were running away with the contest but Mohammed Siraj and Co refused to give up post the break. While Brook was dismissed before tea, Root was caught behind off Prasidh Krishna after the lanky Indian pacer had found the stumps of a struggling Jacob Bethell, leaving the home team at 337 for six. Root got out soon after racking up his 39th Test hundred, 13th versus India and third of the series. The old ball which was not doing a thing in the afternoon session started aiding the pacers, and the scoreboard hardly moved. Suddenly, the remaining 37 runs seemed a long way off. Jamie Overton and Jamie Smith were in the middle when bad light stopped play with the momentum in India's favour. England were 339 for six and new ball just 3.4 overs away.

Tachikawa joins Jamil's scheme of things at Durand Cup
After earning two wins in two matches in the ongoing Durand Cup, Jamshedpur FC have got a further boost in the form of Japanese midfielder Rei Tachikawa. He joined the squad at Flatlet in Jamshedpur on Sunday ahead of their last group encounter against debutants 1 Ladakh FC on Friday which will also be Khalid Jamil's first match at the helm since being declared India head coach. Tachikawa has been with the club since 2023 when he joined from Maltese side Sirens FC, where he made a name for himself. In the first season, he appeared in 22 matches across the Indian Super League and Super Cup, scoring five goals and creating 25 chances. In the last season, he once again impressed under Jamil playing a pivotal role in helping the team make the semifinals in the Indian Super League playoffs where they were edged out by eventual champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant. He also scored the lone goal against Mumbai City FC in the semifinals of Super Cup to make it to the final of the event for the first time. While Tachikawa will no doubt hope to make a promising start to the season for JFC, all eyes will be on coach Jamil. He is the first Indian to become the head coach of the national football team in 13 years and he will be more than eager to lead Jamshedpur FC to a title after missing out on two during last season. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New Container Houses Indonesia (Prices May Surprise You) Container House | Search ads Search Now Undo JFC beat Tribhuvan Army FT 3-2 in the opener and followed it up with a 1-0 victory against Indian Army Football Team with Mohammed Sanan scoring the lone goal.
