CHARLI Knott continued her fine form with a third half-century in four Metro Bank One-Day Cup innings, scoring a classy 82 as Hampshire defeated Warwickshire at Arundel.
Georgia Adams added 68 to help chase down Warwickshire's 243, keeping Hampshire top of the table heading into the T20 Blast break.
Warwickshire, batting first just a day after nine players featured in a T20 victory in Devon, struggled early on a slow pitch.
They slumped to 38 for four and then 93 for six. Bex Tyson, stepping in as lead spinner with Linsey Smith on England duty, struck with her first ball to remove Meg Austin.
Freya Davies removed Sterre Kalis and Davina Perrin in consecutive overs, while Mary Taylor bowled Katie George in her first over.
Wicketkeeper Rhianna Southby caught Bethan Ellis and Nat Wraith off Adams and Knott, continuing the collapse.
However, Abbey Freeborn rescued the innings with a patient 94, her second fifty of the season, manipulating the field and finding regular boundaries.
She added 97 with Charis Pavely (55), who reached her half-century in 70 balls. Georgia Davis then supported Freeborn with an unbroken 53-run stand, scoring 40 in the last three overs.
Though Freeborn fell short of a century, their efforts lifted Warwickshire to a competitive 243 for seven. On her One-Day Cup debut, Hannah Rainey opened with a maiden.
Hampshire's reply began brightly with Ella McCaughan and Maia Bouchier sharing seven boundaries, but both fell to Davis - Bouchier flicking to square-leg and McCaughan lbw.
Knott and Adams steadied the chase with confident strokes and sharp timing. Knott hit eight boundaries in her 46-ball half-century and looked set until she top-edged a sweep off Davis, giving the spinner her third wicket.
Southby chopped a pull onto her stumps, and Adams was trapped lbw by Hannah Baker. When Abi Norgrove sliced to point, Hampshire wobbled at 205 for six - still 38 runs short.
The game echoed the reverse fixture at Edgbaston, where the teams tied. With eight needed off 16 balls and Nancy Harman bowled, a repeat seemed likely. But Taylor held her nerve, securing a three-wicket win with four balls to spare.

Report: If Steven Adams leaves in free agency, Rockets eyeing Brook Lopez as backup plan

Report: If Steven Adams leaves in free agency, Rockets eyeing Brook Lopez as backup plan The Athletic's Kelly Iko writes: 'If (Steven) Adams leaves, team sources said the Rockets could reignite their interest in Brook Lopez.' A busy summer ahead awaits the Rockets. @KellyIko empties the notebook on: ◽️ A potential Steven Adams replacement ◽️ Fred VanVleet's future ◽️ A looming Giannis question The latest intel: — The Athletic NBA (@TheAthleticNBA) June 3, 2025 When the Houston Rockets signed Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks in 2023 free agency, they also pursued Bucks center Brook Lopez. But in the final hours, Lopez spurned Houston to stay in Milwaukee. Two years later, however, the interest from a basketball standpoint is still there. If backup center Steven Adams leaves the Rockets this offseason, The Athletic's Kelly Iko reports that Houston could again pursue Lopez in free agency: If Adams leaves, team sources said the Rockets could reignite their interest in Brook Lopez. The 37-year-old, who averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game (while) shooting 37% from 3 in Milwaukee last season, was previously a target for Houston. He would theoretically be a fit, given his two-way production and health (played 237 games over the last three seasons). Lopez will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, with negotiations open to all teams on June 30. To be clear, Houston's priority will be Adams, who is several years younger (at 31) and is coming off an extremely strong run in the 2025 NBA playoffs. But as an unrestricted free agent, he will have other options — and the Rockets can't offer a starting role, given the presence of All-Star incumbent Alperen Sengun. Interestingly enough, one of the reasons Lopez stayed with the Bucks two years ago was presumably the fact that Milwaukee appeared much closer to title contention. But the aging Bucks are reeling and dealing with a potential trade request from franchise cornerstone Giannis Antetokounmpo, while the young and improving Rockets are coming off a 52-30 season with the NBA's fourth-best record. The landscape has changed, and that might make the Rockets more of a draw to Lopez, this time around. However, Adams remains Houston's preference. Both Adams and Lopez could potentially play alongside Sengun in double big lineups, which the Rockets increasingly used as the 2024-25 season progressed. The ability of Lopez to also hit 3-pointers could mitigate some of the floor spacing concerns with those units, though Adams is clearly the superior rebounder. Ex-Olympic star Maurice Greene reacts after HS girl gets disqualified over fire extinguisher celebration

Former American track and field star Maurice Greene spoke out on Monday as California high school officials disqualified a rising sprint star for performing the celebration he made famous. Sophomore Clara Adams, of North Salinas High School, finished in second place in the 400 prelims and came off the starting line quickly in the 400 finals and ran her way to a first-place finish, or so she thought. Adams celebrated with her father after winning the race. She took a fire extinguisher from her father and sprayed her shoes with it, alluding to her being on fire, the Monterey Herald reported. Greene performed the fire extinguisher celebration after he won the 100-meter dash at the 2004 Home Depot Invitational. "When I heard, cause it happened, and then people just started calling me 'This girl who just ran the 400 did your celebration' I was like huh? What?" he told KSBW-TV on Monday. "If it was away from everyone and not interfering with anyone, I would say reinstate her," the former Olympian said. Adams' father, David, said the celebration was done away from any of her opponents. "I have video of it," he told the Monterey Herald. "She was on the other side of the wall. I told her to step off the track. She did not spray her shoes on the track. We have protested the decision. I feel it was racially motivated." He explained further to KSBW-TV. "When she blew the fire extinguisher, the opponents were gone," he told the station. "That was our moment of celebration, and CIF officials made it about them. The crowd went crazy, they loved it, the CIF booth went crazy, they loved it. But those few guys in those jackets took offense to it, didn't like it, and made a decision based off emotions." The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) upheld the decision to disqualify Clara Adams from the 400. She then learned she could not compete in the 200 either. Fox News Digital reached out to the CIF for comment. In the wake of the incident, a petition was circulated to reinstate Adams' win. It has received more than 1,700 signatures as of Tuesday morning. Rumor Mill: Latest buzz from elite events in Baltimore

BALTIMORE – It was a busy weekend in Baltimore with plenty of top prospects hitting the field. It began Thursday with powerhouse St. Frances Academy's pro day followed by the UA Next Camp Series on Sunday. rankings director Adam Friedman was there scouting the events. Here's the latest recruiting chatter he gathered. Advertisement RECRUITING RUMOR MILL: June kicks off with a bang NEW RIVALS250 RELEASED: Ranking | Top storylines | Ten prospects who could rise with a big June CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker RIVALS CAMP SERIES: Rivals Five-Star heading back to Indy | Rivals Five-Star roster | Schedule/info Adams is inching closer to a June 28 commitment and is in a pivotal stage in his recruitment. The Rivals250 defensive back is coming off an official visit to South Carolina and raved about the experience. Advertisement Adams enjoyed getting to know the coaches and players while getting an unfiltered look at the program. Up next are official visits to Michigan, Notre Dame and Oregon over the next three weekends. It's early in the recruiting process but Buchanan has already established himself as one of the more coveted defensive linemen in the 2027 class. Oregon, Indiana, Georgia and Rutgers are doing well in his recruitment and are expected to get him on campus soon. Penn State is squarely in the mix as well and he'll return to Happy Valley in the not too distant future. The Nittany Lions have recruited Buchanan's school well over the years and already have a strong bond with him. Edwards, the top-ranked safety in the nation, began his official visit schedule with a trip to Auburn this past weekend. He was paying close attention to how the environment felt, how he'd be used in the defensive scheme and wanted to build closer relationships with the coaching staff. Advertisement Edwards heads to Florida for his next official visit followed by trips to Alabama, Texas A&M and Oregon. The Crimson Tide and Ducks appear to have most of the momentum in his recruitment, which is supposed to end with his commitment on July 5. Despite an official visit to Auburn a few weeks ago, Elee was steadfast when saying he is locked in with Maryland after committing to the Terps in December. Texas A&M, South Carolina, Ohio State and Penn State are still trying to get his attention but it doesn't seem like they have much traction at this point in the process. Elee says rarely speaks to coaches from programs other than Maryland. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MARYLAND FANS AT Gregory, a new four-star, is seeing his stock steadily rise and an increasing number of teams are turning their attention toward him. Penn State is in the best position right now but Florida State and Rutgers have built themselves a solid foundation as well. Gregory expressed interest in visiting Ohio State, Florida State, Florida, Notre Dame and Penn State before the end of the offseason. McAfee has already established himself as one of the top receivers in the 2027 class but he hasn't been shy about testing himself throughout the offseason. He has two visits locked in for this month. Advertisement The first will be to Clemson on Tuesday, where he hopes to earn an offer from the Tigers. On June 12, McAfee will head to LSU for a camp. Oregon is also expected to get McAfee on campus this offseason. Moody has been a well-known prospect in Philadelphia for the last few years and he has plenty of suitors but his recruitment seems focused on two teams right now. Rutgers is scheduled to host Moody for an official visit this coming weekend. He spoke very highly of coach Greg Schiano and a number of other coaches on the staff. Moody has several connections to the Rutgers program but Maryland is also seriously involved in his recruitment. The Terps will host Moody for an official visit the second weekend in June as they work to gain more of his attention before he ends his recruitment. Pace has a long list of offers but he is still feeling out some of his top contenders. He will be at Alabama to work out for the coaching staff. Penn State, Georgia and South Carolina are some of Pace's other top contenders. Look for him to work on scheduling visits to each of those three schools along with Oregon. Advertisement At this point in his recruitment, it seems as if Penn State has the inside track. Sweeney's recruitment has been quietly simmering since the end of last season but teams in the SEC and Big Ten have laid the groundwork to be strong contenders until the very end. Tennessee, South Carolina, Ohio State and Maryland have positioned themselves well thus far. Sweeney has visited those programs already and liked the energy at each of their practices and enjoyed talking to the coaches. He'd like to visit Alabama, Oregon and Ohio State again before the end of the offseason. Whitehead has built up a strong offer list and is one of the highest-ranked players in the 2027 class. Tennessee, Penn State, NC State and Alabama have already made strong impressions on the Virginia native and he's built good relationships with coaches at Penn State and Tennessee. Whitehead is working on planning visits to Penn State, NC State and Ohio State this summer and wants to see a game at Ohio State this fall.
