Bears will play their starters in the final preseason game
Bears coach Ben Johnson told Kay Adams on Up & Adams that Caleb Williams and the rest of the team's healthy starters will play.
'We'll go ahead, and we'll play,' Johnson said. 'We'll see how long it is. We're going to get through a couple days here of practice, and we'll determine for how long, but we need to go through this.'
Johnson hinted earlier this week that he would play the starters this week.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid announced Monday that his starters would play some against the Bears.
'They'll start it off, for sure, and then we'll see how it goes from there,' Reid said.
The Bears opened Sunday night's game against the Bills with their starters on the field. Williams and receivers Rome Odunze and DJ Moore each played 14 snaps.
Williams was 6-of-10 for 107 yards and a touchdown.

At least one analyst feels that the team will get off to a bumpy start. The Chargers open the season in Brazil against the Chiefs before playing the Raiders in Las Vegas and then hosting the Broncos in Week 3. John Breech of CBS Sports made his predictions for when each NFL team will lose its first game this coming season, and he has the Chargers stumbling out of the gate. "The Chiefs have won seven straight games against the Chargers, but they've never beaten them in Brazil. However, there's a first time for everything. The Chargers have had a run of bad injury luck with Rashawn Slater out for the season and the Chiefs are the Chiefs", wrote Breech. Jim Harbaugh fought Andy Reid hard twice last season, but came up short. He goes to 0-3 against him as the coach of the Chargers with this prediction. But it doesn't stop there. While we don't know how Breech sees the Week 2 game vs. the Raiders (because he has the Raiders losing in Week 1 as well), we can see that he predicts the Broncos to beat them in Week 3 as he doesn't have the Broncos losing their first game until Week 4. That means that the Chargers, according to Breech, will start the season 1-2, at best. As far as predictions go, it gets a little worse. Over at Ali Bhanpuri and Adam Rank predicted each game of the upcoming season and locked in their playoff teams as a result. Bhanpuri has the Chargers finishing the season 10-7 and fitting into the No. 6 slot in the AFC. Rank also has them going 10-7, but they miss the playoffs entirely in his prediction. Harbaugh could use that as fuel to rally his troops. 6 Texas A&M players receive All-SEC honors ahead of the 2025 season
From top to bottom, the SEC is arguably the most talent-rich league across several sports. With the start of the college football season right around the corner, the conference has released its 2025 Preseason Coaches All-SEC Football Team selections. The list is packed with household names in the college football world. Some of the more notable national standouts include Anthony (Texas), Ryan Williams (Alabama), and DJ Lagway (Florida). Names familiar to Aggie fans—despite now playing outside of Aggieland- include former Aggies Eli Stowers (Vanderbilt) and LT Overton (Alabama), along with high-profile flips Cam Coleman (Auburn) and Harold Perkins (LSU). As usual, Texas A&M remains one of the more perplexing programs in college football. Routinely ranked in the top ten in recruiting, the Aggies often find themselves in the Top 20 preseason rankings, only to finish 8–4 after dropping games they were favored to win. However, expectations feel more grounded this year, thanks to the foundation Coach Mike Elko has built in his short time in Bryan–College Station. In an era when players can transfer for any reason at nearly any time, Coach Elko has earned enough trust to retain several NFL-graded talents and maintain the core of his roster, an increasingly rare feat. He enters the season with a veteran squad at key positions like offensive line, running back, and linebacker. And where there are question marks, there's depth. That's reflected in the preseason All-SEC selections, with six Aggies earning honors: First Team The lone first-team Aggie, Moss, earned this recognition. The senior was well on pace for a 1,000-yard, 12–15 touchdown season before suffering a season-ending injury after nine games. He landed on the 2024 All-SEC Second Team and earned Offensive MVP honors at the team's awards banquet. Moss finished with 765 yards on 121 carries and 10 touchdowns. Second Team A transfer from Kansas, Reed-Adams started every game at right guard. He helped power an offense that averaged 195.5 rushing yards per game—second-best in the SEC. Though he received a solid draft grade, the graduate student chose to return for one final season and will serve as a team captain. Trey Zuhn III - Offensive Line Zuhn has demonstrated year-over-year growth since he arrived in 2021. As another veteran leader up front, he played a key role in A&M's top-30 rushing attack. In 2024, he earned SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, landed on the All-SEC Third Team, and took home the Offensive Trenches Award at the team banquet. He'll also captain the 2025 squad. Chase Bisontis - Offensive Line Bisontis likely could've landed on the second team had he not missed three games due to injury. Like Zuhn and Reed-Adams, he played a key role in anchoring the ground game while helping protect the quarterback amid instability at the position. In 2023, he earned ESPN All-American and All-SEC Freshman honors. Will Lee III - Defensive Back Lee transferred in and immediately made his presence felt, starting all 12 regular-season games. At 6'3" with rangy arms, he posed a tough matchup for opposing receivers and ranked fifth in the SEC with 10 pass breakups. He finished with 39 tackles, 12 passes defended, and two interceptions—one returned for a touchdown. He earned a 2024 All-SEC Second Team spot and won the Defensive Skill award at the banquet. Third Team Taurean York - Linebacker What York lacks in size and speed, he more than makes up for with instincts and football IQ. A relative unknown heading into his freshman season, York grabbed the starting role and thrived. He earned spots on the ESPN and All-SEC Freshman teams and was named a Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Semifinalist. The team captain led A&M with 82 tackles—12th-best in the SEC—and finished with 83 tackles, 9.5 TFLs, 2.5 sacks, and an interception. Johnson started off training camp on the physically unable to perform list as he returned from Achilles surgery last year. Johnson was back on Tuesday and he was in the backfield frequently. '[Johnson] is out there and he's rushing the passer and he runs right by me and it was just like wind, like, 'Whoosh,' ' Glenn said. 'Just goes by me and then you see [Quinnen Williams]. It felt good. I'll just say that. It felt really good.' The Jets defensive line has not been whole during camp with Johnson only coming off PUP last week. 'I think we see Will has a fastball that is like elite in this league,' Glenn said. 'Jermaine is a bigger body — 265, 270 pounds — that's a true power player but he does have speed also. To me, a lot of times when you have that dynamic, you can have one guy from one side rush with power, when he's running right through the tackle, now the quarterback has to have an escape lane and you have a guy who has speed that can come from the backside and make a play. … That makes a hell of a rush. … I'm looking forward to seeing those guys work together.' Bill Kostroun/New York Post Glenn said a 'good amount' of starters won't play in the preseason finale Friday against the Eagles. The Jets have played starters in each of the first two games. Glenn would not say specifically who won't play, but it feels like a safe bet that quarterback Justin Fields won't play. Advertisement 'It gives us a chance to look at some of our other young guys and give them plenty of playing time so we can evaluate them,' Glenn said. 'It's getting down to nut-cutting time as far as who's going to make the 53.' Glenn had a funny line when talking about the team's running backs on Tuesday to avoid any trade talk about Breece Hall. 'We have three good running backs,' Glenn said. 'I keep saying that. They all have different skill sets that we're going to utilize. That does not mean that I'm trading Breece. OK? It does not. I'm going to say that right now. I just like having three good guys. Hell, I wish I had more.'
