Realistic self-care for a busy summer
LET'S be honest, summer doesn't always feel as relaxing as we imagine it will be.
Between school holidays, family plans, barbecues and trying to make the most of every sunny moment, life can quickly become busier than ever.
Here in Worcester we're lucky to have beautiful green spaces and riverside paths that make it easier to slow down.
But when life gets busy what's the first thing we drop? Ourselves.
But self-care doesn't have to mean long spa days or expensive retreats.

It can be small, simple moments that help us feel like ourselves again.
For me it starts with something as basic as wearing clothes I feel good in.
When I'm hot and flustered everything feels harder!
Choose light, comfortable clothes that help you move through the day with ease.
A quick shower before bed for me has been a game-changer.
Not only does it cool me down, it also washes away the day, both mentally and physically.
Hydration sounds obvious but it's one of the easiest things to forget.
Keep a glass or bottle nearby and sip throughout the day even if you don't feel thirsty.
And don't underestimate the power of music.
Pop on a playlist you love, something uplifting while you're cooking dinner or folding laundry.
Bonus points if you dance around the kitchen with the kids!
Sometimes five quiet minutes with a cup of tea or a catch-up with a friend is all the self-care you need.
It doesn't have to be perfect and it definitely doesn't have to be fancy.
Whatever your version of self-care looks like this summer, give yourself permission to take it.
You matter too!

Maine Coon's Magic Mountain Hike Comes With the Cutest Little Raincoat
Maine Coon's Magic Mountain Hike Comes With the Cutest Little Raincoat originally appeared on Parade Pets. Whoever said cats aren't adventurous is a filthy liar. Just like so many dogs, a cat can learn to love going on adventures as long as they're exposed to them early enough! Unfortunately, it's just not something that happens super often: it's not something ever cat parent considers. One family certainly does, though: recently, they took their Maine Coon on a camping trip in the mountains! He's no stranger to a mountain getaway, but this time it was raining, and luckily, they came prepared: Mugen the Maine Coon really loves getting out and exploring the great outdoors, even when it's raining. Plus, let's be real here: he is incredibly handsome in that raincoat!Mugen the Maine Coon is an adventure cat at heart. He goes on outings with his parents all the time: he lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, so he's no stranger to some absolutely incredible scenery. He lives just a short drive away from the most beautiful mountains and camping spots! He wears his little leash and will hike through just about anything, including some rain! They have gotten him a little raincoat, though, just to keep him from getting too wet and chilly. It's a very beautiful raincoat: great for accompanying this beautiful view! If you want to take your cat (or any pet, for that matter) out for adventures, you should do it! They can sometimes get bored inside, and visiting new places can help them feel more interested. Whether you're just taking them on a walk or on a hike, they'll love it! When taking your cat outside for long periods, you should be sure to bring a few essentials: A leash and harness. Food and water. Waste bags (yes, really!). Treats. You should be treating a cat exactly like you treat a dog when you bring them out in public, which includes cleaning up after them if they end up needing to relieve themselves. Having a beautiful adventure cat comes with its troubles, after all! 🐶🐾🐾 Maine Coon's Magic Mountain Hike Comes With the Cutest Little Raincoat first appeared on Parade Pets on Jun 7, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade Pets on Jun 7, 2025, where it first appeared.
