Chiefs' Dove calls for focus as Amakhosi seek MTN8 spot
'We must put our celebrations aside and refocus on the league,' said the Chiefs defender this week.
Kaizer Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove says Amakhosi need to quickly refocus after their Nedbank Cup triumph as they look to win their last two games and hopefully make it into next season's MTN8.

Chiefs play Sekhukhune United on Saturday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium and then take on Polokwane City at FNB Stadium on May 24 to finish off their Betway Premiership season.
Chiefs target six out of six
Six points out of six are likely to be enough for ninth-placed Chiefs to climb into the top eight. However, while Chiefs had a brilliant run to the Nedbank Cup title, beating Orlando Pirates last Saturday to lift the trophy in Durban, their league form has been abysmal.
Nasreddine Nabi's side have not won any of their last seven top flight matches and badly need to find a way to get back on the victory trail.
'We know the importance of Saturday's game, we must put our celebrations aside and refocus on the league,' said Dove this week.
'We have been training well, the mood is there, the energy is positive and hopefully we can go into the game with a clear idea of what needs to be done. That is what the coaches have been pushing us to do throughout our training sessions. They have been keeping the gents in check and making sure we have all the tools we need going into Saturday's game.'
Even if Dove wants they focus to be on Sekhukhune, he admits it was a special moment last Saturday, when Chiefs beat the Buccaneers 2-1 to win a first trophy in ten years.
'It is a feeling you can't describe in words,' said Dove, who has returned to the Chiefs side this year after a long-term injury.
'Not only for ourselves, for the club, for the supporters and for the chairman, a person who has done so much for us.
'We went ten years without (a trophy) … I am 100 percent this trophy will stay a part of our lives for the longest time.'
'A difficult season'
Chiefs are unlikely to find it easy against Sekhukhune. Eric Tinkler's side are third in the table and if they can stay there, they will qualify with Chiefs for next season's Caf Confederation Cup.
'It has been a difficult season but that is our main goal right now, trying to make sure by all means we end in the top eight,' added Dove.

'There are no easy games but we are ready to fight for it … we know the threat they possess. But it is most important to focus on ourselves and try to fix what we can fix that we haven't been doing so well.'

Kaizer Chiefs to axe winger before Holland tour
Kaizer Chiefs will attempt to loan out one of their fringe wingers as he continues to struggle for game time with the Naturena giants. 31-year-old left-footed winger Tebogo Potsane is on the way out of Naturena. The Blom-born star has battled for regular minutes since a move from Royal AM in July 2023. He's only got 19 appearances in that time, with three assists. Here's an update via SoccerLaduma: 'For now, they have been looking at which players to release, and there is a list for those. But for Potsane, it is expected to be a loan move. They still think there is something in him, but things haven't been going well with him, so they believe a loan move could reignite the talent in him with more game time,' the source told Soccer Laduma. 'There are several factors the club is looking at to give a chance to Tebogo Potsane. They are finalising the squad which they are expected to take to Holland, and with new signings expected, they will release some and loan out some, and Potsane is on that list for now,' a source stated. Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates right-back Thabiso Monyane could be on his way to Kaizer Chiefs. It's not the most far-fetched rumour we've ever heard. Pirates already have several players in that position. RUMOUR: Pirates star Monyane to Chiefs? Let us know by leaving a comment below or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Taifa Stars who could trouble Bafana
Having lost their previous three matches, Tanzania will be eager to snap their winless streak when they meet Bafana Bafana in a friendly at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday (7.30pm). We pick three Taita Stars players Bafana must keep a close eye on. Feisal Salum (central midfielder, Azam) Capped 41 times by Tanzania, Salum has been his national team's livewire in recent times. The central midfielder will be hell-bent on impressing on South African soil amid interest by Kaizer Chiefs. The 27-year-old is a dynamic and versatile midfielder admired for his powerful runs with the ball. Salum also boasts excellent long-range shooting attributes. He's often described as a 'box-to-box' midfielder, meaning he can contribute in defence and attack. Mohamed Husseini (left-back, Simba) Fresh from playing a pivotal role in helping Simba reach the CAF Confederation Cup final, where he scored the all-important goal in the semifinals first leg against Stellenbosch FC in Zanzibar, Husseini should be motivated to translate his club form to the national team. The 28-year-old is known for his blend of defensive prowess and attacking flair. He's a strong and reliable defender, also good at tackling and blocking shots. Simon Msuva (striker, Al-Talaba, Iraq) The 31-year-old Msuva is one of a few potent finishers in Tanzanian football in recent years, having scored more than 20 goals for the national team to be among the all-time top scorers. Msuva is also in red-hot form, scoring 12 goals with five assists in 34 games in the Iraq Stars League this season. The well-travelled Msuva is a strong and versatile striker known for his pace, strength and ability to link up with teammates. Msuva previously played for clubs Yanga in his homeland, Wydad Casablanca of Morocco and Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia, among others. Tanzania's losing streak in their past three fixtures January: they lost 2-0 at home to Kenya in a friendly January: they lost 2-0 in another friendly at home to Burkina Faso March: beaten 2-0 by Morocco away in a World Cup qualifier Did you know? Taifa Stars are ranked 107th in the Fifa rankings, 51 places behind South Africa. Ranked No 24 in Africa, Tanzania are 10 places adrift of Bafana.
