Statewide campaign for farmer registration to begin Sep 16
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh govt will launch a statewide campaign on Sep 16 to achieve 100% farmer registration before the release of the next instalment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan). A govt spokesperson said district magistrates will review progress daily in the run-up to the drive. The revenue department was directed to issue standard operating procedures (SOPs) to officials to ensure the correction of land ownership records in line with Aadhaar. The state govt set a target of over 2.88 crore farmer registrations. So far, around 1.45 crore farmers—more than 50% of the target—were registered. Bijnor leads with over 58% registrations, followed by Hardoi (57.84%), Shravasti (57.47%), Pilibhit (56.89%) and Rampur (56.72%), placing them among the top five districts in farmer registry. Credentials of farmers, who are not yet part of the registration process, are being verified by the field officers. In districts like Amroha, Azamgarh, Balrampur, Etah and Jaunpur, 100% verification was already completed. The DMs were also asked to carry out extensive IEC (Information, Education and Communication) activities, while ground officials will focus on lagging districts to achieve full coverage, the spokesperson said. At 2.7L cr, Raj leads in investment commitments
Jaipur: Rajasthan leads fresh investment commitments with Rs 2.69 lakh crore from 419 new projects, predominantly in the solar sector, in the April-June quarter of the current year. According to a think tank tracking proposed investments nationwide, about 86.4% (Rs 2.32 lakh crore) of the state's investment commitments were in the solar industry. In fact, Rajasthan signed MoUs worth Rs 28 lakh crore in power sector during the Rising Rajasthan investment summit held in Dec 2024, with renewable energy projects accounting for about 70%. While the solar sector has been attracting a large number of investors, the performance of other sectors has been lacklustre, representatives of the industry said. Maharashtra came second with 684 new projects worth Rs 2.66 lakh crore. Besides the investment intentions of Rs 90,000 crore from Jindal group companies and around 40 solar or wind projects, the state also benefited from increased investments in the real estate, tourism, and data centre sectors, according to the report by Projects Today. Gujarat witnessed a slippage in its rank from second to third place, attracting 459 projects worth Rs 2.09 lakh crore. After the top-ranked Rajasthan, Gujarat is the next state to benefit the most from the surge in new investment intentions in the solar and wind power projects. Solar and wind projects accounted for around 85% of the total fresh investment commitments worth Rs 1.78 lakh crore. Odisha improved its performance by moving up to fourth place from sixth in the preceding quarter, benefiting from a couple of steel projects and a super-mega aluminium smelter project. . UP to give financial aid to set up leather and footwear parks
Lucknow: To promote the state's leather and footwear sector and create more jobs in the area, the UP govt recently rolled out an elaborate policy. An official spokesperson said the new policy emphasises private industrial parks to bolster private sector participation. "The policy provides that developers of such parks will receive financial assistance as a maximum of 25% of eligible capital investment. This aid will be based on the park's size," the spokesperson said. Listing the key features of private industrial parks, the spokesperson said that it should come up on a minimum area of 25 acres of land. "Each park must have at least five industrial units. No unit can use more than 80% of the land, while 25% of the total area will be reserved for greenery and common infrastructure. Also, parks between 25 to 100 acres must be completed within five years, while parks over 100 acres must be completed within six years," they said. Sharing details on the financial assistance being extended, they said: "Parks between 25 to 100 acres were eligible for a maximum of 25% of capital investment or up to Rs 45 crore. Parks over 100 acres could claim a maximum of 25% of eligible capital investment or up to Rs 80 crore. In addition, there is a 100% stamp duty exemption for all park developers."
