The 37-year-old was travelling with wife Paris and their children after the couple had pledged their wedding vows to each other for the third time in France.
Itauma vs Whyte & Goodman vs Ball | Sunday 17 August 3am AEST | Order this PPV event now with Main Event on Kayo Sports.
What should have been a happy time for the 'Gypsy King' quickly turned into a nightmare as the pilot informed him they would need to turn around, less than 200kms into their trip.
'So, we've travelled a hundred miles on the plane,' Fury said in an Instagram story you can see below.
'The captain has come over to me and said 'we've got to turn this plane around because there's a problem with one of the wings and it won't fix on the computers so we've to try to get back and turn around'.
'Talk about totally s**t yourself. So we're now spinning the plane around and going back to the airport where we started.
'Terrifying.'
Fury captioned the video 'Bad News'.
A second Instagram story then followed, with the family preparing to take off for a second time.
'Right, ready for takeoff?' Fury asked. 'Second time around.'
Paris Fury replied: 'Here we go. Round two.'
Fury then called out to his children to check if they were ready to go, with the boxing champ in much better spirits as he flexed his arm and declared he was ready.
It comes after the retired heavyweight boxer tied the knot for the third time with his wife of 17 years.
Fury first wed Paris in 2008, with his beloved wife by his side throughout his incredible career.
The Englishman has a career record of 34 wins, two losses and a draw, winning and retaining a number of heavyweight titles during his time in the ring.
He lost his last two fights, however, both to Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk in May and then December 2024 and for now appears committed to retirement.
The couple have seven children together; sons Prince John James, 13, Prince Tyson II, nine, Prince Adonis Amaziah, six, and Prince Rico, two, and daughters Venezuela, 15, Valencia, seven, and Athena, four.
All seven kids were by their parents' side in France as they renewed their vows in an intimate ceremony.
Posting several pictures from the special occasion to his 6.7 million Instagram followers, the Gypsy King wrote: 'Paris Fury and I got married again; third time lucky.
'We had the most beautiful day in the South of France, it holds a lot of special memories for us.'
Fury accompanied his post with Bruno Mars' 2011 hit 'Marry You'.
Paris, 35, appeared to wear a bespoke white dress for the occasion while the Gypsy King wore a relaxed cream shirt, white shorts and sandals.
The event took place in a picturesque French church and it appeared to be a family affair, with just the couple's kids in attendance.
Fury announced his retirement from boxing in January following his second defeat to Usyk
Last month, Fury's promoter Frank Warren said of his man: 'He's made it clear he wants to fight Usyk.'
But asked about a potential retirement U-turn while out at Doncaster Racecourse earlier this month, Fury said: 'Never.
'Too old, look at my beard, all grey. Boxing is a young man's game.'

‘Crying': Jake Paul steals thunder at brother's glamorous wedding
WWE star Logan Paul and model Nina Agdal got married during a ceremony in Lake Como, Italy on Saturday, according to a video shared by his younger brother Jake on Instagram. It marked a return to the area where Paul proposed in July 2023, which was just over a year after the couple was spotted at a restaurant in London with friends, The New York Post reports. And the ceremony that, according to TMZ, was officiated by Mike Majlak — the 'Impaulsive' podcast co-host — caused Jake to become emotional, as he captioned the video with, 'I've seriously been crying.' Paul and Agdal welcomed their first child, Esme, in September 2024, and she was in attendance at the ceremony, too, along with Jake and his fiancee, Jutta Leerdam. During the ceremony, Paul donned a white jacket, a black bow tie and black pants, and the pair of couples posted for a photo afterward. Paul and Agdal were spotted in Cernobbio on Wednesday paddling separate canoes and swimming, and Paul also shared a series of photos and videos — including one of the couple practising their dance for the ceremony — to reveal that it was his 'wedding week.' When Paul proposed to Agdal at Hotel Passalacqua last year, Agdal was 'completely blindsided by the proposal and was visibly surprised' — and the ring was the wrong size, a witness told the Daily Mail at the time. Then, Paul reportedly called Jake and said, 'Bro, you have a sister,' the outlet added. 'Today is the day I ask the love of my life to marry me,' Paul said in a 2023 YouTube video that provided a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the proposal. 'Fourteen months ago, I fell in love with the most beautiful human being I've ever seen in my life, and I have been waiting for this day ever since.' Paul's fame has skyrocketed after making his in-ring WWE debut in 2022, and he spent time on the field pregame at Yankee Stadium two weeks ago ahead of WWE SummerSlam — posing with Aaron Judge and getting the superstar to sign a baseball. But before Paul faces John Cena in a singles bout at WWE Clash in Paris on Aug. 31, he took a break for the extravagant ceremony.

Vegan activist Tash Peterson raising $30,000 to leave Australia after defamation suit
A controversial vegan activist who filed for bankruptcy after a court found she had defamed a Perth vet is attempting to raise money to leave Australia for 'the world's biggest vegan camp out' in the United Kingdom. Tash Peterson and boyfriend Jack Higgs had their passports confiscated when they filed for bankruptcy in May, after WA Supreme Court Chief Justice Peter Quinlan ordered they pay $280,000 in damages. Justice Quinlan found the pair had published defamatory claims that a Bicton vet was 'eating her own patients', with Ms Peterson claiming the court battled meant her 'personal accounts have been wiped'. The pair returned to social media on Friday to urge their supporters to donate to a GoFundMe campaign to help them acquire $30,000 demanded by their bankruptcy trustees 'because they're concerned we are going to flee Australia for good'. 'Because of this, we are trying to raise funds so that I can give my speech at the Vegan Camp Out,' Peterson said in a video. 'The only purpose of our trip is to speak up for non-human animals. Not to run away. 'We only have one week to raise the $30,000'. The pair said the funds, which will contribute to a bond, will be returned to them when they return to Australia and forfeit their passports once again, and will then go to the animal NGO, Farm Transparency Project. Ms Peterson is listed as a speaker for the vegan Camp Out, a four-day festival at Bygrave Woods in Hertfordshire which includes talks from vegan activists such as Paul McCartney's ex-wife, Heather Mills. The GoFundMe campaign is being run by Ms Peterson's mother, Sally, and as of Saturday morning had raised more than $2000 to a target of $5500, with donations ranging from $20 to as large as $300. The festival website describes Ms Peterson as a WA-based animal activist 'known for her bold and attention-grabbing approach' with a 'controversial style which often includes civil disobedience'. Ms Peterson is most well-known for protests staged outside restaurants and agricultural shows, and according to her own social media have resulted in 30 police move-on orders, three restraining orders, and 17 convictions.

England name 21-year-old Jacob Bethell as captain for T20 International series against Ireland
Jacob Bethell will break a record which has stood for 136 years when the 21-year-old all-rounder becomes England's youngest ever men's cricket captain next month. Bethell will lead England against Ireland in three T20 Internationals in Dublin. The previous youngest England captain was Monty Bowden, who was 23 in 1889 when he took charge for a Test in South Africa after regular skipper Aubrey Smith fell ill with fever. Some senior players will be missing in Ireland, including usual white-ball captain Harry Brook, who will be in charge of one-day international and T20I games against visiting South Africa earlier in September. "Jacob Bethell has impressed with his leadership qualities ever since he has been with the England squads, and the series against Ireland will provide him with the opportunity to further develop those skills on the international stage," England men's selector Luke Wright said in a statement on Friday. The captaincy is part of a rapid rise for Bethell, who made his debuts for England in all three formats only last year. The series in Ireland begins on September 17, after England's tour of South Africa for three One-Day Internationals (ODI) and three T20 matches, starting September 2. Right-arm fast bowler Sonny Baker has earned his first national team call-up for the ODIs against South Africa after the 22-year-old impressed selectors with his performance for England Lions and in domestic cricket. England will then travel to New Zealand in October for a white-ball tour, followed by five Ashes Tests in Australia from November. AP/Reuters
