Isak, 25, is wanted by the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool after firing the Magpies back into the Champions League.
Newcastle want to keep hold of the prolific Swede and want him to sign a new deal.
Any deal that would lure him away from St James' Park is likely to cost more than £150m.
Liverpool could have signed Isak back in 2022 from Real Sociedad for just £63m but decided to pursue a move for Darwin Nunez instead.
The Uruguayan cost the Reds a then-club record £85million from Benfica while Isak joined Newcastle.
Liverpool's former data expert Ian Graham has revealed how Klopp opted for Nunez over the cheaper Isak deal.
He told the Financial Time s: "Jurgen created a lot of success for the club, so it's understandable why it moved in that direction (from data-driven decisions to managerial preference).
"I'm happy to talk about my colleagues persuading Jurgen (in 2017) that Mohamed Salah was the player to buy instead of Julian Brandt.

"In 2022, he signed Darwin Nunez (for £64m plus add-ons) instead of Alexander Isak.
"Both players, if you look at top young centre-forwards in Europe, they would be number one and two — or two and three but (Erling) Haaland was going to (Manchester) City and out of our price range.

"Jurgen preferred Nunez. It would be very churlish of me to say, 'It's terrible that Jurgen had his choice', when in the past Jurgen had been persuaded by me and my colleagues of a different choice.
"And it was still the case that we signed good players — in Nunez's case, one of the best young strikers in Europe."
Nunez is expected to leave Anfield this summer but the club will hope to sell him for £60m, according to DiMarzio.
But the interested party Napoli are keen to drive his price down in order to push a deal through.

Liverpool star backed by Wayne Rooney to follow in his footsteps and rub salt in for Chelsea

Rio Ngumoha has been tipped for big things this season after a stunning pre-season with Liverpool, and Wayne Rooney is the latest to heap praise on the 16-year-old Wayne Rooney has tipped Liverpool sensation Rio Ngumoha to be the standout young star of the new Premier League season. The 16-year-old is making a name for himself as one of England's top emerging talents after an impressive pre-season, registering two goals and two assists. ‌ After handing him his first-team debut for the reigning Premier League champions last season, Reds manager Arne Slot has been careful in managing expectations for the former Chelsea youth player. However, he was full of praise for him following his goal against Yokohama F Marinos last month. ‌ With Luis Diaz recently moving to Bayern Munich, Cody Gakpo is now the only first-team left winger for Slot, potentially giving Ngumoha more chances to shine, particularly with Liverpool competing on multiple fronts this season. ‌ The youngster has already received a lot of praise, and Rooney added to it during a Premier League preview edition of Match of the Day. Alongside Kelly Cates, Danny Murphy and Julien Laurens, the England hero named Ngumoha, who turns 17 next month, as his pick for the breakout star of the season. Rooney, who himself burst onto the scene at a similar age, also predicted that Liverpool would retain the Premier League title and selected Jeremie Frimpong as his choice for the most important signing this season. He's also tipped Mohamed Salah to clinch a second consecutive Golden Boot, and fifth overall, ahead of the likes of Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak, with the latter potentially sharing the dressing room with the Egyptian this year given Liverpool's long-standing interest in him. Slot's choice not to loan out Ngumoha, whose exit from Chelsea last year left the frustrated Blues taking their rivals to a tribunal, certainly shows the faith he has in him. The Dutchman insisted he possesses the capability to feature for the reigning champions, despite his tender age. "I don't know what senior players exactly means, does that mean you play for your country or you're a certain age? Because a player like Rio showed in the last few games he played for us that, at senior level, he can make an impact as well," Slot said during pre-season. ‌ He explained that, whilst the likes of Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni, 18, have talent in abundance, the club's staff have a responsibility to ensure they are taken care of. "They have an incredible chance to work and be every day around players like Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah and all these others to see what they do, to be ready to perform every three days," Slot continued. "And that is a step these players definitely have to make, which is completely normal if you're 16 or 17. It's already nice that they can play once a week at a good level, and we just try to develop them in the best way we can. ‌ "But we also have to take care of them because new players that come in that are 23, 24, 22, already experienced that the intensity levels are quite high, either during the games or in training sessions, let alone for players that are 16 and coming through the academy." Liverpool will kick off the 2025/26 Premier League campaign on Friday night as they host Bournemouth at Anfield.

Adams says Arsenal should have signed Premier League striker over Gyokeres

Arsenal legend Tony Adams says the jury is still out on Viktor Gyokeres and he 'would have liked' to have seen the club sign Ollie Watkins instead this summer. The Gunners came under fire for failing to bring in an out-and-out centre-forward as the club went a fifth season on the bounce without winning a major trophy under Mikel Arteta last term. While Kai Havertz and Mikel Merino both occupied the false nine role with varying degrees of success, Arteta made it clear that Arsenal would be on the hunt for a genuine frontman heading into this summer's transfer window. Several high-profile strikers had been linked with Arsenal, including Liam Delap, Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko, before the north Londoners honed in on an agreement for Sporting sensation Gyokeres. Watkins also remained a player of interest at the Emirates after Arsenal missed out on deal for the attacker in January, but Aston Villa have been insistent throughout their talks that the England international is not for sale. Metro's new weekly football newsletter: In The Mixer. Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every Friday – sign up, it's an open goal. Gyokeres took Portuguese football by storm with his extraordinary goalscoring exploits over the last two seasons, in which he netted 97 times in 102 appearances for the Primeira Liga champions. But there remain questions as to whether Gyokeres' form will translate well to challenges of the Premier League given the Swede is yet to test himself against the very best on a consistent basis. These concerns – and others – are shared by ex-Arsenal captain Tony Adams, who revealed during an Indo Sport season preview why he wasn't completely confident about the state of play at his former club ahead of the new campaign. Asked if he was a fan of Arteta, a hesitant Adams replied: 'Ahhhh… [audience laughs]… What?! Was there too much of a long pause there? 'I think he's got a really big call to make this year and, for me, he hasn't done it and the call is to make Declan Rice captain. 'Declan is my kind of captain and it might free up [Martin] Odegaard up to play with a bit more freedom because he had a very average season last year. 'The Portuguese lad [Gyokeres]… I don't know yet. He's not tried and tested. 'I would have liked to have seen them get Ollie Watkins to be honest with you. He's a Gooner, he might have given us a year and we might have won the title. 'But I think sometimes when you've got the main man and the captain of the club… Terry Venables did it, he took it off David Platt and he put me as captain and Glenn Hoddle took me out and put Alan Shearer, which was a silly decision! 'But every now and again, as a manager, you have to put someone that reflects you, reflects the football club, someone who thinks can actually take you to the next level.' Adams believes Arteta would have taken the armband off Odegaard and handed it to 'proper captain' Rice if he was a 'big manager' capable of making difficult decisions. 'I think he's better than Arteta, I think he's a winner,' the two-time Premier League winner said of Rice. 'I think Rice is an Arsenal leader, I think he is. He's good in the dressing room, around the training camp. 'He's got standards, he's got principles and I can see the man and he's a proper player, a proper captain. 'I would have done it, but Arteta hasn't done it so I'm being critical of Arteta at the moment. Big managers go, 'Right actually, you're my man now!'' Adams is adamant that Arsenal's long wait for a Premier League title will continue as long as Odegaard remains skipper. 'It's been five years now [since Arsenal won a major trophy],' the ex-England centre-back went on. 'He got great success at the start with a very defensive team. We didn't have the forwards so we defended in numbers. 'They didn't defend well but they defended as a unit. He got everyone behind the ball basically and we nicked the FA Cup. 'Going on and winning leagues and to win league titles, you have to be a [Jurgen] Klopp, you have to be a [Sir Alex] Ferguson, you have to lead by example and you have to be a winner, you have to go about your business and that reflects in your captain. 'Making Odegaard your captain is a reflection of Arteta and I can really see that. 'I'm saying to Arteta, 'Come on, step up now! It's your time to be a winning manager and a fantastic manager!', because you're not going to win the league with Odegaard as captain.' Arsenal kick off their new campaign with an eagerly anticipated trip to Ruben Amorim's new-look Manchester United on Sunday afternoon. Gyokeres opened his account for the Gunners in the side's pre-season win over Athletic Bilbao, putting forward his case to be selected in Arteta's starting XI. But it remains to be seen if Arteta will be prepared to throw the Sweden international straight in at the deep end at Old Trafford, with Havertz still an option up front.
