Caitlin Clark Made Unfortunate History During Fever-Storm Game
Caitlin Clark Made Unfortunate History During Fever-Storm Game originally appeared on The Spun. The Indiana Fever picked up a much-needed win over the Seattle Storm on Tuesday night, but Caitlin Clark's struggles on the hardwood continued. Advertisement Clark had just six points in one of the worst shooting performances of her career. She went 3 for 13 from the field and failed to hit a single attempt from beyond the arc. Believe it or not, the sharpshooter from Iowa has made just one 3-pointer over the past three games. On top of her shooting woes, Clark has really struggled taking care of the basketball. She has recorded 22 turnovers during her three-game slump. On Tuesday night, Clark recorded more turnovers (8) than points (6) in a game for the first time in her career. That has led to fans questioning if everything is OK behind the scenes. "Something is wrong. She's walking off ball more than I've seen in over 5 years of watching her. She's got no spark. She's going through the motions but there's more going on than we know," one fan said. Advertisement "She's definitely in a shooting slump after returning from injury, it happens to most players. Her shot will land eventually," another fan wrote. (Photo by Jeff Haynes/NBAE via Getty Images)Even though Clark struggled against the Storm, head coach Noelle Quinn had nothing but praise for the former No. 1 pick. "She is a matchup nightmare because she can pass, shoot and do a lot of good things on the basketball court," Noelle said, via Athlon Sports. "I like our attention to detail on her. I like how we're staying in plays. And I like that we're getting our hand up and making it difficult." The Fever will return to action Thursday night against the Los Angeles Sparks. That'll be their first home game since June 17. Advertisement We'll see if a return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse helps Clark break out of her shooting slump. Caitlin Clark Has Been Ruled Out For Thursday Night's Game
Caitlin Clark Has Been Ruled Out For Thursday Night's Game originally appeared on The Spun. For the second time this WNBA season, Caitlin Clark will miss time due to injury. In late May, the Indiana Fever announced that Clark had a quad strain. The team went 2-3 in the five games without her. Once she returned to the hardwood on June 14 to face the New York Liberty, she dropped 32 points in a 102-88 win. Advertisement Unfortunately, Clark hasn't been herself over the past three games. She has made just one attempt from beyond the arc during that stretch while also committing 22 turnovers. On Tuesday night, the former No. 1 pick recorded more turnovers (8) than points (6) in a game for the first time in her career. Well, we might know why Clark has been in a slump. It turns out she's not at full strength right. Moments ago, the Fever ruled out Clark for Thursday night's game against the Los Angeles Sparks because of a hamstring injury. (Photo by Jeff Haynes/NBAE via Getty Images)The severity of Clark's injury is unknown at this time. Hopefully, she doesn't miss an extended period of time. Advertisement When Clark missed time earlier this season she admit that it wasn't easy working her way back to form. "I think the hardest part is when you begin to feel really good, and then it's just the process of working yourself back into actually getting up and down and getting out there with my teammates. And obviously that can be a little difficult, at the same time, when they're prepping for their games that I'm not going to be available in." Clark is averaging 18.2 points and 8.9 assists per game. We're wishing her all the best in her recovery. WNBA Fans React To Caitlin Clark Injury Announcement
WNBA Fans React To Caitlin Clark Injury Announcement originally appeared on The Spun. WNBA fans likely got a rude awakening this morning when they learned that Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark was ruled out of today's game against the Los Angeles Sparks. Advertisement A short while ago, the Fever announced that Clark will miss the game against the Sparks with a left groin injury. This will be the sixth game she's missed this season after playing the entirety of her rookie season in 2024. On one hand, the injury would certainly explain why Clark has been going through one of the worst stretches of her playing career over the past three games. On the other hand, the Fever have struggled when Clark has struggled and might struggle even more in her complete absence. WNBA fans were pretty bummed out by the news. Many were upset while others agreed that the injury explains her recent slump: Advertisement "This explains a lot. No way she's this off, if not for injury. Rest up and back stronger," one user remarked. "Good job playing her the last few seconds in a game already decided. The Connecticut folks have some explaining to do," wrote another. "Let her sit until she is 100%. There is a lot of season left. She can't elevate for shots on a bum leg," a third pointed out. "Ughhh nooo Caitlin's out tonight?? My heart can't take this. Wishing her a speedy recovery. Take all the time you need, queen. That left groin better behave because we will miss every inch of her magic on that court." "Dang it! My mom and her friends were heading up for the game tonight." Advertisement "Lighting an incense and praying to gods I don't believe in to heal that left leg." (Photo by)In the short term, the WNBA might take another ratings hit. The last time Clark was out for multiple games, ratings reportedly dropped in half. Granted, some of the lost ratings might have been due to the ongoing NBA Finals. With no other major sporting events going on in this dead period of the summer, we might get a better idea of how the WNBA really looks when Clark isn't out there.
