WNBA Fans React To Caitlin Clark Injury Announcement
WNBA Fans React To Caitlin Clark Injury Announcement originally appeared on The Spun.
WNBA fans likely got a rude awakening this morning when they learned that Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark was ruled out of today's game against the Los Angeles Sparks.

A short while ago, the Fever announced that Clark will miss the game against the Sparks with a left groin injury. This will be the sixth game she's missed this season after playing the entirety of her rookie season in 2024.
On one hand, the injury would certainly explain why Clark has been going through one of the worst stretches of her playing career over the past three games. On the other hand, the Fever have struggled when Clark has struggled and might struggle even more in her complete absence.
WNBA fans were pretty bummed out by the news. Many were upset while others agreed that the injury explains her recent slump:

"This explains a lot. No way she's this off, if not for injury. Rest up and back stronger," one user remarked.
"Good job playing her the last few seconds in a game already decided. The Connecticut folks have some explaining to do," wrote another.
"Let her sit until she is 100%. There is a lot of season left. She can't elevate for shots on a bum leg," a third pointed out.
"Ughhh nooo Caitlin's out tonight?? My heart can't take this. Wishing her a speedy recovery. Take all the time you need, queen. That left groin better behave because we will miss every inch of her magic on that court."
"Dang it! My mom and her friends were heading up for the game tonight."

"Lighting an incense and praying to gods I don't believe in to heal that left leg."
COLLEGE PARK, GEORGIA - MAY 10: Caitlin Clark #22 of the Indiana Fever warms up prior to a preseason game against the Atlanta Dream on May 10, 2025 at Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia. (Photo by)In the short term, the WNBA might take another ratings hit. The last time Clark was out for multiple games, ratings reportedly dropped in half.
Granted, some of the lost ratings might have been due to the ongoing NBA Finals. With no other major sporting events going on in this dead period of the summer, we might get a better idea of how the WNBA really looks when Clark isn't out there.

Ex NFL Wideout Solves Browns Quarterback Dilemma
Ex NFL Wideout Solves Browns Quarterback Dilemma originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns are working with a crowded quarterback room this offseason. With Deshaun Watson shelved due to a second Achilles tear in three months back in January, general manager Andrew Berry signed a couple of veterans to fight for the starting role. Advertisement Berry also drafted two young players to make things interesting. The 40-year-old Joe Flacco is the most experienced in the room, followed by Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh's first-round pick in 2022. Berry selected Dillon Gabriel in the third round this season and Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round. They're all fighting for the starting job in Week 1. But former Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Jones has it all figured out, as he described on a recent episode of "The Facility." "Pickett is still extremely young," Jones said. "If he goes out here and plays well, that's a bonus for your football team, and then you have two young dudes behind them that you are developing. Joe Flacco going out there, I absolutely disagree with that because he's older. You're not going to win a lot. But with Kenny Pickett going out there, he's young. He was a first-rounder." Advertisement 'If it's not Kenny Pickett, the only other option is Shedeur because I believe he's the most-talented quarterback on that roster.". Flacco is clearly the favorite to start due to his experience both in the NFL and in Kevin Stefanski's offense when he subbed for five games back in 2023. But Jones thinks that's a terrible idea. Training camp and the preseason should be fun in Cleveland this season. Justin Tucker Handed 10-Game Suspension By NFL
Justin Tucker Handed 10-Game Suspension By NFL originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Baltimore Ravens were thrust into uncertainty on special teams when kicker Justin Tucker was accused of sexual misconduct by several Baltimore-area massage therapists. Advertisement On May 5, the Ravens moved on from the former All-Pro, even after having remained adamant that they will wait for the NFL to conclude its investigation before making any significant moves regarding Tucker's future. Now, the NFL has announced Tucker's punishment. According to league insider Adam Schefter, Tucker, 35, is suspended without pay for the first 10 weeks of the 2025 season for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. The following statement has been released by Tucker's representative Rob Roche: "We are disappointed with the NFL's decision. Justin has always strived to carry himself in a way that would make his family and community proud. He stands by his previous statements. In order to put this difficult episode behind him and get back on the field as soon as possible, we have advised Justin to accept this resolution and close this matter. The people who know Justin best know his character and understand that while he remains fully committed to excellence as a football player, he is deeply dedicated to his most important lifetime roles as a father, husband, and friend.' Advertisement In the league's press release, the suspension will take effect on roster cut day, August 26 and he will be eligible for reinstatement on November 11. Tucker is currently still a free agent. If he were to be signed by a team, he is able to serve his suspension under contract. He is able to communicate and try out for a club, and if he is signed, is able to attend training camp this offseason. Six massage therapists have come forward, accusing Tucker of inappropriate behavior during sessions that took place between 2012 and 2016. The allegations include claims that Tucker exposed himself, made inappropriate contact, and left bodily fluids on massage tables. Advertisement After the investigation had gotten underway, Tucker released a statement to address the allegations. "The allegations against me in The Baltimore Banner article about me are unequivocally false. Throughout my career as a professional athlete, I have always sought to conduct myself with the utmost professionalism," said Tucker. "I have never before been accused of misconduct of any kind, and I have never been accused of acting inappropriately in front of a massage therapist or during a massage therapy session or during other bodywork. I have never received any complaints from a massage therapist, have never been dismissed from a massage therapy or bodywork session, and have never been told that I was not welcome at any spa or other place of business." These accusations have cast a dark cloud over Tucker's otherwise stellar career. Tucker - maybe the best kicker of his generation - is coming off the worst year of his career. He made a disastrous 73.3 percent of his field goal attempts (especially compared to his all-time best career average of 89.1 percent). He also missed more field goals between 40 and 49 yards than he had in any other season. Advertisement With the 10th pick of the sixth round of the NFL Draft, the Ravens took Arizona kicker Tyler Loop, who is expected to be Tucker's replacement this season. 2025 NBA Draft grades: Second-round pick-by-pick analysis
It's Day 2 of the 2025 NBA Draft. Let's hand out grades for every second-round pick. Also, click here for first-round grades. Grade: A- Fleming is a hustler who drains spot-up jumpers and brings energy on defense, swatting shots and snagging boards. But he has some real warts as a ball-handler with a lack of experience against high-level competition. This matters less for the Suns, since he'll play in a role in which he just needs to do the simple stuff as a floor spacer rather than worry about shot creation. Grade: C+ Penda plays with a veteran's mind and a winning mentality, offering connective playmaking, switchable defense, and high-level feel. It's a bit of a risk for Orlando though since Penda needs to improve his jumper to shine in the long-term. But his unselfish game and defensive utility give him a strong foundation to build on. Grade: B Fans who happen to root for both Duke and Charlotte know that James has role-player qualities that can fit next to the Hornets' core pieces. James is a versatile defender who sets a tone with his hustle, and after years of laying bricks he worked hard to become a dead-eye, spot-up shooter. And he brings much more than shooting as a crafty playmaker who keeps the ball moving. But without the handle of a primary creator, it's critical he sustains his newfound success as a shooter. Grade: A A ton of teams were hoping Kalkbrenner would fall to them in the second round, but the Hornets land him here after trading away center Mark Williams during Day 1 of the draft. Kalkbrenner is a throwback 7-footer who owns the paint, swatting shots with his giant wingspan and dunking everything in sight. It's a bit strange he isn't a better rebounder. But as a super senior, he's also developed some sneaky passing and shooting skills that hint at higher upside, which could allow him to help facilitate for Charlotte's offensive engines. Grade: B+ Could Broome be the best backup center of the Joel Embiid era? Perhaps so, because he brings a ready-made game as an interior finisher with a passing feel and tone-setting defense. Though his jumper hasn't progressed as much as NBA teams would hope, Embiid's ability to space the floor could make for intriguing two-big lineups this season. In Philadelphia, it's more important that he progresses moving laterally on the perimeter. Grade: A 37. Detroit Pistons 38. Indiana Pacers 39. Toronto Raptors 40. New Orleans Pelicans 41. Phoenix Suns 42. Sacramento Kings 43. Washington Wizards 44. Oklahoma City Thunder 45. Los Angeles Lakers 46. Boston Celtics 47. Milwaukee Bucks 48. Memphis Grizzlies 49. Cleveland Cavaliers 50. New York Knicks 51. LA Clippers 52. Golden State Warriors 53. Utah Jazz 54. Indiana Pacers 55. Chicago Bulls 56. Memphis Grizzlies 57. Boston Celtics 58. Cleveland Cavaliers 59. Golden State Warriors
