Bianca Belair set for SummerSlam comeback after injury setback

Bianca Belair's absence has been felt on SmackDown ever since her high-stakes Triple Threat match against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY at WrestleMania 41. Despite her resilience, the 3-time WWE Women's Champion suffered broken fingers during the bout, forcing her to take a break from in-ring competition.
Belair's injury derailed a key storyline involving
Naomi
and Jade Cargill. Prior to her hiatus, Belair had uncovered Naomi's betrayal of Jade, setting up what looked like a heated rivalry. However, with The EST of WWE off television, WWE had to abruptly alter its creative plans.
SummerSlam return on the cards
According to multiple reports, Bianca Belair is expected to return to the ring in time for SummerSlam 2025, which takes place across two nights - August 2nd and 3rd.
She is not part of the Queen of the Ring tournament and will also miss the all-women Evolution premium live event in July. But WWE sources indicate she should be cleared to compete by early August.

This timeline gives WWE ample opportunity to reintroduce Belair into the Naomi–Jade Cargill feud. Whether she appears before or during SummerSlam, her return is expected to shake up the SmackDown women's division.
Naomi recently captured the Women's Money in the Bank briefcase, outlasting competitors like Alexa Bliss, Rhea Ripley, and Giulia. Following her win, she addressed Belair directly on X (formerly Twitter), asking, '.@BiancaBelairWWE are you proud of me yes or no!?'
The post, while playful, carries underlying tension given Naomi's recent heel turn.
With Jade Cargill still seeking payback and Belair nursing unfinished business, the seeds are clearly being planted for a high-voltage showdown.
Bianca Belair's return promises to shake up SmackDown's women's division. Whether she reappears during SummerSlam or in the buildup to it, fans can expect fireworks - especially if she confronts Naomi, now carrying the Money in the Bank briefcase.
With personal history and a storyline left hanging, WWE could reignite the feud between Belair, Naomi, and Jade Cargill in dramatic fashion.
A triple-threat showdown, or even a long-form rivalry stretching into the year-end pay-per-views, is already being discussed among fans.
At 35, Belair remains one of WWE's most dynamic stars, and her return comes at a time when the women's roster is brimming with potential. If WWE plays its cards right, this could be the spark that defines the division's narrative heading into Survivor Series and beyond.
All eyes now turn to August, as SummerSlam weekend draws near - and with it, the possible return of The EST of WWE.

The thinking woman: An unwelcome truth

Namrata is a writer, editor, and book reviewer. A published author her stories and articles have been published in various anthologies and magazines. After being an investment banker for a decade she found her true calling in books. With numbers playing in her mind and words throbbing through her veins for close to a decade now she writes, reads, and of course forgets to count them. She is currently working on her debut work of fiction based on Partition. When not reading, she can be found writing about books, music, and films on Twitter @privytrifles LESS ... MORE She thinks. She asks. And suddenly, she becomes a threat. In every sphere of life, the thinking woman is viewed with suspicion. Not because she lacks charm or beauty, but because she refuses to silence her mind. Whether it's in cinema, literature, or even the very interviews that promote women, the message is the same: keep your thoughts light, your questions few, and your opinions palatable. The 'play dumb' script: Acting dumb for popularity It's a bitter truth of Indian popular culture that actresses often feel pressured to 'play dumb' to become more likable and marketable. In interviews, many actresses are subtly — or sometimes overtly — encouraged to downplay their intellect, avoid controversial opinions, and stick to safe, agreeable answers. Compliments pour in for 'sweet,' 'innocent,' or 'simple' answers, while articulate, nuanced responses are met with discomfort or dismissiveness. This expectation is not only unfair but deeply insulting. Women who choose to express themselves thoughtfully risk losing mass appeal. The pressure to conform to this image has silenced many voices. Women who think and speak out: The exception, not the rule Take Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, and Sushmita Sen — three women who have refused to stay quiet. They are outspoken, politically aware, and vocal about feminism, mental health, and social issues. Despite their talent and popularity, their outspokenness often leads to polarized reactions. Vidya Balan, known for portraying strong, complex women on screen, is equally fearless off-screen — speaking openly about women's rights and gender stereotypes. Taapsee Pannu, who speaks candidly about industry politics and social injustices, has faced trolling and backlash for her bluntness. Sushmita Sen, a former Miss Universe and an icon of independence, consistently challenges patriarchal norms with her unapologetic confidence and liberal views. Yet, all three are sometimes labeled as 'too political,' 'controversial,' or 'difficult,' showing how society is uncomfortable with women who think loudly and live authentically. Contemporary Indian literature: Voices that refuse to be silenced The literary landscape in India today features fearless women writers who refuse to simplify female experience or shy away from uncomfortable truths. Writers like Meena Kandasamy and Nivedita Menon bring powerful feminist critiques that challenge caste, patriarchy, and social injustice head-on. Nilanjana Bhowmick's work delves into the complexities of womanhood and identity, refusing to shy away from portraying women who think deeply and live unapologetically. Annie Zaidi, through her essays and fiction, highlights the struggles and resilience of women who question societal norms and demand visibility. Tishani Doshi's poetry and prose explore the intersections of gender, identity, and belonging with a sensitivity that refuses to let women's voices be sidelined. Together, these authors and activists create a chorus of modern Indian women who think critically, ask questions, and demand change — even when the world is uncomfortable hearing them. The real cost: Popularity vs. authenticity The sad reality is that women who ask questions and express strong opinions often lose out on popularity. The system rewards compliance and punishes dissent. Even on social media, the trolling of women who dare to think critically and challenge norms is relentless. This extends beyond cinema and literature. In workplaces, women who negotiate salaries or question policies are branded 'bossy' or 'aggressive.' In politics, outspoken women leaders are constantly scrutinized more harshly than their male counterparts. Why does the world fear a thinking woman? Because a thinking woman is unpredictable. She doesn't fit into neat boxes. She disrupts the comfortable narrative of docility. She forces the world to reflect and sometimes, to change. The discomfort is not because thinking women are threatening by nature, but because they threaten the fragile power structures that rely on silence and obedience. The bright future of thinking women Despite the barriers, the thinking woman is rising. For every troll, there are millions who listen. For every closed door, a new path is carved. For every attempt to dim her voice, her fire only grows stronger. The world may fear her now — but it cannot stop her. Because the thinking woman is here, speaking up, questioning, and demanding a seat at every table. And this time, she's not going anywhere. Has Karrion Kross been released by the WWE? Explaining the controversy surrounding his status with the promotion

Karrion Kross on August 11 confirmed that he is no longer with the WWE and added that he will soon be taking independent booking. Scarlett, his wife and manager, too has apparently been let go by the company. While this seems to be legit, there may be more to the situation. Veteran journalist Dave Meltzer has stated in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that everyone backstage is 'skeptical' about whether this is a shoot. This suggests that the whole thing may just be work. He had also earlier stated that WWE offered Kross and Scarlett contracts ahead of the end of their current deals. This has further added to the mystery surrounding their status. Karrion Kross released: Is it a work? WWE, like most pro wrestling companies, is a storyline-driven product. In fact, the whole business thrives on Kayfabe (making things that aren't real look real). Keeping this in mind, the scenario may just be WWE's way of testing his popularity and bringing him back when the time is right. If this happens, the angle may have shades of the recent fiasco involving R-Truth. In case you did not know, 'Ronnie' was released by the WWE a few months ago. He, however, returned at Money in the Bank and helped Cody Rhodes-Jey Uso beat Logan Paul and John Cena. This came after the company faced intense backlash from fans. Triple H, the head of WWE's creative team, described it as a work, but Truth maintained it wasn't. Going down this route would help the company bring him back as a face and give him a push. Karrion Kross to return as a heel? The WWE in recent years has constantly tried to blur the line between reality and storyline. The injury angle with Seth Rollins is a case in point. 'The Visionary' lost his match against LA Knight at Saturday Night's Main Event after 'injuring' his knee. This was described as a legitimate setback and Rollins was even seen on crutches backstage during Evolution. However, it was eventually revealed that he wasn't injured. The injury was part of a storyline and he returned at SummerSlam Night 1 to cash-in his MITB contract on a vulnerable CM Punk. This again suggests that the Karrion Kross contract situation may just be another angle. In this case, he could return as a heel and target some popular stars. Karrion Kross' rise in the WWE is undeniable Kross had emerged as a bankable mid-card heel over the last few months courtesy of his mic skills. His segments with AJ Styles and Sami Zayn were well-received. He also received a push when he squared off against the Canadian star at Night of Champions and SummerSlam, losing on both occasions. His stint with the WWE is seemingly over for now but the company's track record suggests that there may be a twist in the tale.

Not just Donald Trump, Zohran Mamdani too has a strong connection with the WWE

Donald Trump, one of the world's most influential leaders, has often made headlines because of his association with the WWE. The President of the United States shares a strong rapport with Vince McMahon, the former Chairman of the sports entertainment juggernaut. He also appeared at WrestleMania 23 in 2007 and participated in the 'Battle of the Billionaires' in which his representative Bobby Lashley beat Vince's pick, Umaga. Trump, however, is not the only US politician with links to the WWE. Zohran Mamdani, New York City's mayor-designate, too, has had an interaction with a WWE star. When Zohran Mamdani interacted with WWE's Sami Zayn Mamdani added a new dimension to his career on June 27 when he beat Andrew Cuomo to win New York City's Democratic mayoral primary election. He secured nearly 43% of the vote to pull off the career-changing feat. Shortly before that WWE star Sami Zayn sent a message to him on X (formerly known as Twitter) in which he expressed a desire to meet him in person. This post came hours after Zayn landed in New York City for Fanatics Fest. 'I'm in NYC where you at @ZohranKMamdani?,' read his post. I'm in NYC where you at @ZohranKMamdani ? Mamdani responded to it by asking Zayn to DM him. The Canadian star is an integral part of the WWE's mid-card division. He recently beat US Champion Solo Sikoa, the US Champion, in a non-title match on SmackDown. On the August 11 episode of Raw, he beat Rusev by DQ after interference from Solo Sikoa's MFT. Zayn also hopes to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship, currently held by Seth Rollins, in the near future. Who is Zohran Mamdani? All you need to know Born in Uganda in 1991, Zohran Mamdai is filmmaker Mira Nair and academic Mahmood Mamdani's son. He shifted to the US. as a child and spent his formative years in New York City. After completing his schooling, he graduated from Bowdoin College with a degree in Africana Studies.
