Ireland's Alex Dunne finishes fourth on Formula One debut
Russell took his first win of the season last time out in Canada and the Mercedes driver raised hope of a second victory in as many races by topping the time charts at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
Russell saw off Max Verstappen by 0.065 seconds, with championship leader Oscar Piastri third. Lando Norris sat out the first running of the weekend as Ireland's Alex Dunne was handed his Formula One debut.

The Offaly native, 19, finished fourth, less than a tenth shy of Piastri, with Norris due to return to his cockpit for the second session later on Friday.
Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton suffered a gearbox problem before ending the one-hour running in ninth, half-a-second adrift.
Russell won from pole position in Montreal to take just the fourth win of his career and move to 62 points behind championship leader Piastri.
And the Englishman, whose contract with Mercedes expires at the end of the season, looks set to be among the major players again this weekend after setting the early pace.

Although Verstappen finished second, his Red Bull team-mate Yuki Tsunoda ran off the track at turn three and finished only 17th of the 20 runners, seven tenths behind.
Norris trails Piastri by 22 points in the standings after his collision with his McLaren team-mate in Montreal.
Norris watched the opening session from the McLaren pit-wall, with Dunne becoming the first Irishman since Ralph Firman in 2003 to take part in an F1 event.
'A little boy's dream came true,' said McLaren development driver and Formula Two championship leader Dunne over the radio. 'This is the best day of my life.'
Norris will be back in action when the day's concluding session gets under way at 17:00 local time (16:00 BST).

Amazon builds new electricity infrastructure at its Belfast base for EVs
Amazon operates its main major delivery base from the Titanic Quarter at Belfast Harbour. It is now developing new infrastructure to assist in meeting EV charger demands, in a bid to support its fleet electrification. 'The proposed substations will support charging stations for electric vehicles and complement the operation of the Amazon warehouse,' plans say. 'The proposed facilities will be located on small patches of brownfield land located adjacent to the existing Amazon Belfast depot.' Partner EO Charging is behind the new development, and has helped roll out some 800 EV chargers for the digital retailer over the last few years. Amazon remains one of EO's largest clients and is undergoing fleet electrification across many of its distribution sites. 'EO is a pioneer in EV charging and has been at the forefront of electrifying fleets for a decade… sites including at [Belfast],' the plans say. 'This will enable a reduction in carbon emissions and facilitate a move to utilising renewable energy to power the fleet.' It will develop a new substation to deal with the required power capacity, with a distribution network operator (DNO) and ring main unit (RMU). Elsewhere, Amazon recently placed a major order of electric trucks for its UK fleet. That includes 140 new electric Mercedes-Benz Truck eActros 600s and eight Volvo FM electric trucks. To support the electric fleet, Amazon is planning to install fast-charging infrastructure across key UK sites. It is also expanding its fleet elsewhere, including more than 300 new electric vans from Rivian, which will hit the road in Germany. In Northern Ireland, Amazon currently operates a fleet of electric and zero-emission vans to deliver across the region from its Belfast base. In Belfast, the new electricity infrastructure is being developed 'to ensure that it is in keeping with the character and appearance of the wider industrial site'. Aside from electric vans, which operate across Northern Ireland, Amazon also runs a fleet of electric cargo bikes in Belfast.

Penge pings Hojgaard to claim Danish Championship title
Marco Penge capitalised on Rasmus Hojgaard's remarkable mid-round collapse to clinch his second DP World Tour title at the Danish Golf Championship. Hojgaard looked set to breeze to his second victory in this event in three years when he opened up a four-shot lead by the sixth hole. However Penge, who birdied the third and eighth, was in a share of the lead after the Dane dropped a shot at the seventh and double bogeyed at the ninth. The Englishman moved ahead when Hojgaard bogeyed the 10th and extended his lead to two with a brilliant birdie at the 13th. Penge left the door ajar with his only bogey of the day at the 16th, but instantly responded with a birdie at the penultimate hole to restore his two-shot advantage at 15 under. Hojgaard piled on the pressure with a clutch eagle at the par-five last to draw level, but Penge kept his cool to drain his birdie putt and triumph at Fureso Golf Klub. "I've been playing so well this year," Penge said. "You know, coming back from my time off, to have won so soon (after that) and to achieve what I've achieved since I won. "My main goal after I won was to not get complacent and drop off basically. My team have been a massive support for me, my family, everyone involved really. "It's made me keep striving for more and this is amazing. And Rasmus, he's some player, to hit the shot he hit into the last and make eagle and basically make me have to win it was unbelievable." Ben Schmidt, who hails from Rotherham, parred the 72nd hole to earn solo third at 12 under following a final-round 68. Penge had two more reasons to celebrate in Copenhagen after his success saw him top the Closing Swing rankings, earning US$200,000 and entry to the final nine events of the DP World Tour campaign, in addition to claiming the US$10,000 on offer for setting the course round of 64 during his first round. Ireland's Conor Purcell carded a final-round 68 to finish one-under-par overall, good enough for a tie for 34th place.
