Taylor Swift announces new album 'The Life of a Showgirl' on Travis Kelce's podcast — what we know

The clip was shared on Instagram at 12:12 a.m. ET on Aug. 12, a nod to Swift's 12th album.
It's been a long time coming … and now we have a title for Taylor Swift's 12th album. The new work, The Life of a Showgirl, was announced via a video clip from the upcoming Wednesday, Aug. 13, episode of Travis and Jason Kelce's podcast, New Heights. It was shared on Instagram at 12:12 a.m. ET on Tuesday, Aug. 12, as a nod to Swift's 12th album.
In the clip, Swift shows the brothers a briefcase, which is mint green with the letters T.S. on it.
"This is my brand-new album, The Life of a Showgirl," the singer declared.
The album cover has not yet been revealed, and Swift's website shows only a blurred orange and green image with a lock on the cover. However, fans can already preorder the vinyl, cassette and CD editions.
The Empire State Building in New York City turned orange in celebration.
Thus far there is no track list for the album, so fans will have to stay tuned. There is also no release date: Though the website states preorders will ship on Oct. 13, it also said that an official date will be announced at a later time.
Eagle-eyed Swifties first noticed something was in the works with the Eras Tour icon on Aug. 11, when Taylor Nation — the official platform for all things Swift — took to social media to share a post featuring 12 photos of Swift, all in the same shade of orange. The caption of the post was 'Thinking about when she said 'See you next era …'' along with a red heart surrounded by orange flames.
Meanwhile, Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, announced that Swift would be the surprise guest on his and his brother Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast episode dropping on Wednesday. The brothers initially hinted that Swift could be joining them in a post Monday afternoon that featured Travis in Swift merch with a sparkly orange background, which fans caught on to immediately.
The 12th album marks Swift's first new music release since announcing that she officially owns her first six albums after a lengthy battle over her master recordings. The artist began a rerecording project after she learned in 2019 that her masters were sold to Scooter Braun against her will. Swift went on to release enormously successful 'Taylor's Versions' of her 2008 album, Fearless; her 2010 album, Speak Now; her 2012 album, Red; and her 2014 album, 1989, and now owns the original works as well.
'To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it,' Swift wrote in a letter to fans posted on her website when she purchased her masters. 'All I've ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached, no partnership, with full autonomy.'
While fans were initially anticipating rerecordings of her 2006 self-titled album and her 2017 album, Reputation, to be among her next releases, Swift instead appears to be focusing on making new music.

Zoë Kravitz offered Taylor Swift's Beverly Hills mansion during California's wildfires crisis

Zoë Kravitz has revealed Taylor Swift generously offered her her Beverly Hills mansion as a safe haven during California's recent wildfires. The actress, 36, spoke about the incident during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, describing how Taylor, 35, opened her $25 million 1930s mansion to her and her mother Lisa Bonet, 55, amid the wildfire crisis — only for the pair to leave part of the singer's home 'completely destroyed.' Zoë said: 'We ended up having to stay there for about two weeks. 'And Taylor has this beautiful house. It's from the '30s, something you want to preserve and take care of.' Despite her usual care as a houseguest, Zoë admitted a mishap occurred in Taylor's bathroom. She said: 'I try to be a good houseguest, I try to leave places better than I found them.' But as she and her mum were tidying up at the end of their stay, Zoë received a call from Lisa. She found her mother 'crouched in the corner in this weird way' in the upstairs bathroom. Zoë added: 'And I'm like, 'What's going on, dude?' And she's like, 'So I was washing my face and I had Orpheus and I just put her down for a second. Closed the door and she found this little hole in the corner'.' The hole trapped Lisa's pet snake Orpheus in the wall behind a built-in banquette. Their attempts to retrieve the serpent caused a frantic scramble that sent it further into the structure. Eventually, Taylor's house manager arrived with a crowbar to dismantle the banquette. Zoë added: 'We're ripping up the tile. We're scratching the walls. Completely destroyed Taylor's bathroom and there was just this moment where I was like, 'Either we destroy her bathroom or I have to tell her that there's a snake somewhere in her house.' She said she assured Taylor's manager: 'Obviously, I'm gonna pay for everything to be fixed. Please just don't say anything until it's fixed.' When Zoë later called Swift, the singer was already aware. She said: 'I remember calling her saying, 'Hey, I wanted to talk to you about something.' And she was like, 'Is it the fact that you almost lost a snake in my house and destroyed my bathroom?'' Zoë has been friends with Swift for over a decade and has collaborated on her music, co-writing the 2022 songs Karma and Lavender Haze and providing backing vocals on Midnights. She also described attending Taylor's sold-out Eras tour in London and spending relaxed evenings with the singer afterwards. Zoë added: 'But what is weirder actually to me is that after she performs for however many thousands of people… she just comes over after, and like, we drink some wine, and like, eat a burger, and like, hang out.'

47 Thoughts I Had While Watching Season 3, Episode 6 of The Summer I Turned Pretty

Oh, The Summer I Turned Pretty, how you tantalize me—and also piss me off. I am pretty much 100% aligned with Belly's mom, Laurel, in not thinking this deeply world-innocent college junior should marry some blond, perpetually sunburned bro just to prove she's over his significantly hotter brother. And yet, I'm kind of having fun with this JV-league wedding plotline? Below, find absolutely every single thought I had about The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, Episode 6: Am I the only one who sings the title of this show to the tune of Loudon Wainwright III's 'The Swimming Song'? Oh, Belly. Why in the Lane Kim hell are the writers of this show making you get married in college? Where is this girl getting rent money for an apartment for her and her soon-to-be 'husband'? When I was her age, I lived off babysitting earnings and the funds my parents generously put on the stupid little ID card you could use to buy ice cream and tampons at the college bookstore. And I was (correctly) not engaged! I'm not saying nobody should get engaged in college, but Belly definitely should not. Okay, Jeremiah serving 'cute futch lesbian' with his messy hair and glasses. And yes, that is the first and last time I will use the words 'Jeremiah' and 'cute' in the same sentence. Oh, okay, here's where the apartment money is allegedly coming from (Jeremiah's dad). Why are we referring to 'Jere' in the third person? Was that an Idaho student murders reference? I know I'm being negative about this relationship, but…God save me from Jeremiah cooking 'Sunday dinner every week.' What do just-out-of-college boys cook for dinner, anyway? Freezer broccoli and PBR? Good luck finding an apartment to rent (even a terrible one) that doesn't require a credit check, you sweet summer children. Is my TV shitty, or is the lighting on this show so dark? I'm trying to imagine how I would have 'helped' if one of my besties were getting married in college, and I'm just coming up with myself, hungover, getting Doc Martens grime all over the venue carpets. Like, I'm 32 years old, and I'm still not ready. But I guess this show isn't about me! Okay, mean wedding-planner lady, a lobster roll is not a mere sandwich. 'Yacht formal'? Oh my God, indeed. Belly, go with the brother who can cook (or at least put food in the fridge for you). I agree with Taylor's mom: TGI Friday's Mudslides shouldn't count as alcohol, legally speaking. Oop, is Jeremiah and Conrad's dad re-upping his affair? Well, I guess his wife is deceased, so it's not really an affair anymore, but still…should he be sleeping with someone from the office whom he already cheated on his late wife with, and whom he's pulled into planning his son's wedding? Aw, I love Conrad for trying to convince Laurel to come to this nonsense wedding. Why is Laurel charmed by him ordering for her, though? I know it's supposed to be cute, but never let a man order for you. I do think Conrad's right that Laurel will regret not being there for Belly during all this wedding stuff, TBH. Should Conrad and Laurel hook up? Okay, sorry, I know this isn't The O.C. But, damn, remember when Luke and Julie Cooper got it on? We used to be a proper country. I fear I don't really care about this Steven/tech/potential brewing-romance plotline. I need him back with Taylor, stat! This balloon display… I mean, I'm not really one for bridal showers in the first place, so why am I commenting? Hey, it's Laurel!!! Time for an emotionally charged fellas' suit-fitting. God, that scrapbook is going to be an amazing thing to weep over when Belly and Jeremiah inevitably break up. I am on the record about finding Conrad hot, but I do really want him to wash his hair and fix his depression bangs. Not the Alvvays needle drop! God, the boys' dad is such a dick. Get his ass, Conrad. Aw, Laurel telling Belly 'There's a lot of world to see' and giving her tickets to Paris for her honeymoon is above and beyond the call of mom duty. Aw, I want to recreate this watching-old-musicals-on-Wednesday-nights ritual when I have a kid. Aw, I love Belly belting Bye Bye Birdie. Almost as much as I love Belly healing Conrad's wounds! Literally and figuratively, wink-wink.
