From the shores of the Atlantic Ocean to the heart of Manama, Brasero Atlántico makes its dazzling Middle East debut.
Their first choice of location? Beautiful Bahrain. This stunning Argentinian restaurant is the brainchild of two passionate restaurateurs — Alex Resnik and Tato Giovannoni. Perched on the rooftop of the iconic Sheraton Bahrain Hotel, the venue offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor deck offering marvellous views of the city — especially at dinner.
The Manama skyline provides a breathtaking backdrop, making this the perfect destination for an evening filled with vinyl music, artisan beverages, and mouthwatering food. The ambience is vibrant, contemporary, and unmistakably Argentinian.
Award-winning bartender Tato Giovannoni began his journey to global acclaim with a bar tucked beneath a flower shop — Florería Atlántico in Barcelona, back in 2013. His passion for storytelling and flavour led him to establish Brasero Atlántico in September 2015, expanding on his vision of a space where food and culture intertwine.
I had the pleasure of meeting Alex Resnik during launch night, who enthusiastically shared the inspiration behind the concept. He spoke of how Argentinian cuisine evolved from the culinary traditions brought by immigrants from Spain, Italy, and other parts of Europe. These communities arrived by sea through the Atlantic Ocean, and their influence is reflected in both the menu and the maritime design — an exposed ceiling, cosy interiors, and seating that overlooks a ship-shaped open kitchen.
This is where Executive Chef — or rather, Captain — James Martin steers the team toward culinary brilliance, centred around a spectacular brasero (wood-fired grill and pizza oven). While Tato couldn't be there in person, his creativity was present through his hand-drawn sketches of mythical sea creatures found throughout the restaurant.
After a warm welcome and guided tour from Assistant General Manager Stefan Radic, I spent time exploring the open kitchen and food counters. For culinary enthusiasts like myself, watching live pizza baking and grilling over fire is a real treat. The brasero grill is undoubtedly the heart of the restaurant — a place where flames crackle, and the aroma of seasoned meat fills the air.
Meat is imported directly from a farm in Argentina, including prime ribeye, tenderloin, and striploin. Each cut is grilled to perfection — juicy, tender, and deeply flavourful.
One detail that caught my eye was the careful folding of the empanadas — beautifully golden with their glossy egg-wash finish. One version featured succulent shredded osso buco, encased in a delicate, flaky pastry. Another offered a comforting Pascualina spinach filling, creamy and satisfying.
The Chicken Wings Provençal stood out with Mediterranean notes of garlic and parsley, while the Palta Atlántico appetiser was refreshing and vibrant — prawns, ripe avocado, celery, green apple, and onion in perfect harmony.
A personal favourite was the ham and roasted bell pepper pizza — so moreish, I had to return for seconds. With a perfectly baked crust, savoury turkey ham, sweet roasted peppers, and a generous layer of cheese, it was a visual and culinary delight.
As I soaked in the panoramic views, I sipped on a chilled glass of Flower Water — delicately perfumed with rose, it was a lovely seasonal alternative to regular water, ideal for summer evenings.
To end the evening on a sweet note, a creamy vanilla flan was served — smooth, indulgent, and the perfect finale to an unforgettable meal.
Alex Resnik, Co-Founder of owning company The Hierophant Group, said:'Brasero Atlántico Bahrain invites guests on a vibrant journey — bringing together the lively spirit of Buenos Aires and the essence of Bahrain to this amazing destination. Our journey to creating this Argentine gem in Bahrain began at Florería Atlántico in Argentina, a place where traditions blossomed from Argentina's immigrant heritage. Now, this culinary voyage reaches the shores of Bahrain, inviting patrons to experience a fusion of cultures and tastes — a place honouring the soulful essence of Argentina's gastronomic identity.'
As the embers of the brasero glow against the night sky and the rhythms of Buenos Aires echo across the Gulf, Brasero Atlántico doesn't just serve dinner — it ignites a celebration of heritage, fire, and fearless flavour.

Tom Cruise Lands Guinness World Record

TDT | Manama He's scaled the Burj Khalifa, clung to the side of a flying plane, and jumped off cliffs on a motorcycle — but now Tom Cruise has taken his daredevilry to a new level, earning a Guinness World Record for a stunt that is as jaw-dropping as it is dangerous. The 62-year-old Hollywood icon has officially been recognized for 'most burning parachute jumps by an individual', a feat performed during the filming of the recently released Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025). Cruise executed a staggering 16 jumps from a helicopter, each time strapped to a parachute that had been soaked in fuel and set ablaze mid-air. After descending through a trail of fire, Cruise cut away the scorched chute and deployed a backup to land safely — a routine that no other actor or stunt professional has ever attempted at such scale. 'Tom doesn't just play action heroes – he is one,' said Craig Glenday, Editor-in-Chief of Guinness World Records. 'His obsession with authenticity and his commitment to outdoing himself every time is what makes him a legend. This title is more than deserved — it's a tribute to his fearlessness.'

Endurance Tested, Spirit Unshaken

TDT | Manama Trail Runners Take on Alpine Test Backed by the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the Bahrain Ultra Trail Runners (BUTR) team is set to participate in the internationally renowned Mozart 100 by UTMB, a demanding mountain ultra-marathon held annually in Salzburg, Austria. The trail running event is part of the global UTMB World Series, which is the official pathway to the prestigious UTMB Mont-Blanc, and this year's edition will welcome over 2,500 runners from around the world across various distance categories. The standout challenge will be the punishing 120km course with over 5,800 metres of vertical ascent. Bahrain's Best on the Mountain Stage The Bahrain team is composed of some of the Kingdom's most passionate endurance athletes, who specialise in long-distance mountain and trail running. The core team includes Hamad Mattar, Ahmed Kamal, Mohammed Zaman, Jassim Al Bastaki, and Amer Ibrahim — all competing in the Mozart 100. They are joined by Riyadh Rafie and Adam Jamal in the Mozart Ultra, while Saad Al Thabit and Hassanain Marhoon will also race in their respective categories. These athletes form part of BUTR — a homegrown community of Bahraini runners united by a shared love for trail endurance sports. The group has proudly represented Bahrain in previous international ultra-trail events, including other races within the UTMB circuit. A Route Known for Pain and Prestige The course weaves through steep climbs, wooded trails, and rugged mountain paths that demand elite conditioning and precise pacing. Organised by the UTMB World Series — the same group behind some of the world's toughest trail events in regions like the Andes, the Alps, and the Himalayas — the Mozart 100 is a critical stop for runners hoping to qualify for the UTMB Mont-Blanc in Chamonix, France, widely considered the pinnacle of ultra-trail racing. Global Challenge, National Pride For Bahraini runners, this race is a chance to show national pride and highlight Gulf athletes' endurance in a sport still finding its foothold locally. The team's participation is made possible through the Bahrain Olympic Committee's active support, reinforcing the Kingdom's ambition to feature more prominently across a broader range of international sporting disciplines.
