Jack Black's ‘Minecraft' Smash Gives The Actor A Career-Best High

'Steve's Lava Chicken' climbs into the top 10 on sales, streaming, and overall charts in the U.K., ... More giving Jack Black a career-best showing. For weeks now, Jack Black's track "Steve's Lava Chicken" has been growing in popularity globally. The song is featured multiple times in his A Minecraft Movie , which is already one of the most successful films of 2025 all around the world. The tune started with diehard fans of the visual, but it has since crossed over and become a viral sensation. In just a few weeks, the track has soared toward the summit on a number of important tallies.
This week, the cut has absolutely found an audience outside of those who love the film. The tune lifts again on multiple rankings in the United Kingdom — not just once again certifying itself as a real hit, but giving Black a special win.
"Steve's Lava Chicken" appears on four song rankings in the U.K. this week. It climbs on all of them and manages to enter the top 10 on each and every list, performing well when it comes to pure purchases, streams, and a combination of the two.
Black's tune rises to No. 8 on the Official Singles Downloads chart. That is the loftiest position among the four rankings on which it appears. It also improves to No. 9 on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles rankings, the latter of which measures overall consumption by blending streams and sales.
"Steve's Lava Chicken" also just barely manages to enter the highest tier on the Official Streaming chart, jumping to No. 10. Last week, it sat just outside the top 10 on all of four rankings. So, while it didn't have far to go, the fact that it is now a top 10 hit is still huge – for the movie, for the song, and certainly for the man behind the cut.
The track, which runs just over 30 seconds long, marks the first top 10 hit for Black on all four rankings. He has reached these lists in the past on his own, including just last year, with a track from The Super Mario Bros. movie — but he never managed a top 10 bestseller, top streamer, or all-around smash.
Even as one-half of the comedy rock duo Tenacious D, he didn't make it into the uppermost tier, although he did come close last year with a cover of Britney Spears' single "...Baby One More Time." That tune, which was covered for the latest in the Kung Fu Panda series, missed the top 10 on a handful of sales tallies by just a few spots.

Corrie's Cait Fitton opens up on harsh sides of fame - 'it's taken time'

Since joining Coronation Street last year, Cait Fitton has braced herself for the challenges of soap stardom. Cait Fitton recently hinted at brewing turmoil for her character, Lauren Bolton, in Coronation Street, saying, "She's at a really stable point of her life. She has a job at the Rovers behind the bar and she's learning the craft. She's trying to build relationships. That's where the party comes in." What starts as fun quickly leads to disaster when Aadi (Adam Hussain), egged on by Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove), decides to throw a bash. Confiding in her fans, Cait revealed, "Lauren doesn't even know what is going on," and "She has anxiety over whether or not she should even be there because she doesn't know anybody apart from Betsy. She seems out of place, though she tries her best to fit in." The turn of events sees Lauren accidentally consuming LSD, leading to a harrowing ordeal. "She has a traumatic experience with it," Cait shared, insisting that "We see a side of her that we haven't seen for months." Her experience at the party sets off a chain reaction affecting her trajectory on the show. With anticipation, Cait suggested, "It's going to be a rollercoaster. Everybody at that party - their lives are going to be changed. I don't know how she'll go through it. " Cait has opened up about the challenges of her intense soap scenes, admitting that while she's flourishing as Lauren, the emotional demands of the role have been a journey. "It's taken me a long time to have thick skin, it's not an overnight process," she reveals." We are normal people outside of filming, but everyone sees the characters as actual people. That can be really hard, especially with Lauren, who is a complex character. "The actress shared how tough it's been on set since her co-star Paddy Bever, who played Max Turner, left the show following his character's arrest and imprisonment for arson. "It's been really hard without Paddy," Cait confesses. "My journey started with him and his time ended with me. It was strange to wrap my head around doing scenes without him. I miss working with Paddy." Despite the distance, Cait maintains a strong bond with Paddy. "I am in touch with him," she says, "We're both very busy, but we do catch up. We are in need of an in-person catch-up soon. "In the wake of Paddy's departure, Lauren has found camaraderie with Betsy Swain, portrayed by Sydney Martin, and Cait is thankful for her new co-star. "Sydney has a beautiful aura to be around," Cait praises. "She's so positive and the best person to go to for advice. I had that with Paddy but being with a girl who is the same age as you is different. We clicked straight away. We're always looking for each other at work. She's like my home. " The duo enjoy spending creative time together, even planning a pottery date. However, Cait has also received support from several other co-stars, including David Neilson, who plays Roy Cropper, and Alison King, known for her role as Carla Connor.

Gerard Butler Accidentally 'Insulted' This Award-Winning Director During Very Awkward Audition

Gerard Butler is opening up about one of his more ill-fated Hollywood auditions. During a recent interview with HuffPost UK to promote the live-action remake of How To Train Your Dragon, the Scottish actor admitted he once inadvertently insulted an esteemed director while trying out for one of his films. While he didn't disclose the name of the movie, he did reveal that the film in question was a remake, directed by Joe Wright. Gerard recalled that, during the audition, 'I said, 'so why are you remaking it?' – and I didn't mean it to be cheeky, I was just curious!'. 'He gave me such an intelligent answer, and at the end, I said something like, 'is that it?',' he continued. 'And I mean it as in, 'is that the end of my audition?'. And he was like, 'yeah'. And I just got up and left and went, 'well that was the weirdest thing'.' Gerard added: 'I think he was just insulted that I said, 'why are you even doing this?', when I had no right to be asking that question! I was just trying to make conversation!' 'I got up and left, so I still to this day don't know if I was expected to read or not,' he quipped. 'I'm wondering if there's still a chance of me getting this role. Who knows? I mean, it was about 12 years ago…' Over the course of his career, Joe has helmed several remakes and adaptations of classic works, including 2005's Pride & Prejudice (earning him a Bafta for Most Promising Newcomer), 2012's Anna Karenina and 2015's Pan, a Peter Pan prequel starring Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard the pirate. The British filmmaker went on to direct the war movie Darkest Hour, for which Gary Oldman earned an Academy Award for his portrayal of Winston Churchill, the Netflix thriller The Woman In The Window and the romantic musical drama Cyrano.
