Gold eyes USD 4,800-8,900 by 2029, depending on inflation trends: Report

India Gazette26-05-2025

New Delhi [India], May 26 (ANI): Gold is in a long-term bull market, with price targets of USD 4,000-5,000 in the medium term and potential highs of USD 8,900 by 2030, according to 'Gold We Trust Report 2025' by Liechtenstein-based investment and asset management firm Incrementum. The report states that the yellow metal has the potential to touch USD 8,900 for the same time period, in the case of a more inflationary environment.'The forecast corridor of USD 4,800 to USD 8,900 depends mainly on how inflationary the next five years will be,' the report said. These price targets are rooted in the report's broader analysis of factors influencing gold, including monetary policy, inflation trends, and geopolitical dynamics. The report also argues that the ongoing bull market for gold is not merely a short-term phenomenon but rather the beginning of a secular trend, warranting increased investor attention. On the flip side, the report also cautions investors to expect corrections, considering the inherently volatile nature of gold.In recent months, gold has seen interest due to the instability arising out of trade tensions; however, the gold price has been witnessing a fall after a sharp rise witnessed over January-April 2025, in which gold prices had rallied by 25 per cent.Furthermore, the report also mentions that the global markets, family offices allocate just one per cent of their portfolios to gold and precious metals, putting it on equal footing with niche assets like art, antiques, and infrastructure, and far behind more favoured categories such as private equity, real estate, and even cash.Recently, Gulf News reported that gold prices are likely to rise again, helped by the plethora of factors defying softening safe-haven assets demand and expectations of fewer rate cuts this year by the US Federal Reserve Bank.Additionally, JP Morgan also predicted recently that gold prices will soar to USD 6,000 per ounce by 2029, a significant 80 per cent jump, further strengthening its positive outlook for the yellow metal. Amid Tariff Turbulence, US Prez Trump Likely To Hold Talks With Chinese Counterpart Xi, Says White House

New Delhi: US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to hold talks this week, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. Speaking to reporters, Leavitt confirmed that a readout of the call would be provided if the two leaders proceed with the discussion. This development comes after White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett expressed expectations for a conversation between Trump and Xi earlier on Sunday. According to the ANI report, during an appearance on ABC News' "This Week," Hassett mentioned the anticipation of talks between the two leaders, although without specifying a date. Leavitt further clarified, "I can confirm that the two leaders will likely talk this week. And as always, when foreign leaders call, we will provide a readout of those calls." Hassett made the remarks during an appearance on ABC News' "This Week" on Sunday. However, he did not mention the specific date when the two leaders would hold talks. The development comes after Trump accused China of breaching a deal negotiated between officials of the two nations in Geneva last month to roll back high tariffs for 90 days. However, China rejected Trump's allegations on Monday and accused the US of provoking "new economic and trade frictions." On May 30, Trump accused China of violating a recent trade agreement with the US. However, he did not mention China's action that violated its agreement with China. In a post shared on Truth Social, he stated, "Two weeks ago, China was in grave economic danger! The very high Tariffs I set made it virtually impossible for China to TRADE into the United States marketplace, which is, by far, the number one in the World. We went, in effect, COLD TURKEY with China, and it was devastating for them. Many factories closed and there was, to put it mildly, 'civil unrest.' I saw what was happening and didn't like it, for them, not for us." "I made a FAST DEAL with China in order to save them from what I thought was going to be a very bad situation, and I didn't want to see that happen. Because of this deal, everything quickly stabilized and China got back to business as usual. Everybody was happy! That is the good news!!! The bad news is that China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US. So much for being Mr. NICE GUY," he added. Earlier in May, the US announced a trade deal with China in Geneva. US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent said that there was substantial progress between the parties. "I'm happy to report that we made substantial progress between the United States and China in the very important trade talks. First, I want to thank our Swiss host. The Swiss government has been very kind in providing us this wonderful venue, and I think that led to a great deal of productivity we've seen. We will be giving details tomorrow, but I can tell you that the talks were productive," the White House quoted Bessent as saying. "We had the vice premier, two vice ministers, who were integrally involved, Ambassador Jamieson, and myself. And I spoke to President Trump, as did Ambassador Jamieson, last night, and he is fully informed of what is going on. So, there will be a complete briefing tomorrow morning," he added. US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer said that the parties came to a conclusion very quickly. "This was, as the Secretary pointed out, a very constructive two days. It's important to understand how quickly we were able to come to an agreement, which reflects that perhaps the differences were not so large as maybe thought," he said. Greer hoped that the deal would help the US deal with a trade deficit of USD 1.2 trillion. "That being said, there was a lot of groundwork that went into these two days. Just remember why we're here in the first place -- the United States has a massive USD1.2 trillion trade deficit, so the President declared a national emergency and imposed tariffs, and we're confident that the deal we struck with our Chinese partners will help us to work toward resolving that national emergency," the statement read.

Pune Airport beats own record with 212 flight ops in single day

On Sunday, June 1, Pune Airport set a new record of handling a total 212 flight operations in a single day, outdoing its own previous record of handling 208 flight operations in a single day on January 12 this year. This landmark figure included 106 departures and 106 arrivals, with over 36,000 passengers passing through the airport in a single day as they headed to both domestic and international destinations. Airport director Santosh Dhoke expressed enthusiasm over the development saying, 'The overall flight operations on Sunday were executed smoothly. This is a very positive sign for us, indicating the steady growth of air traffic movement at Pune Airport. It is the highest number of flight movements recorded in a single day in our history, and it reflects the growing connectivity and demand among passengers. With 35 domestic and three international destinations currently linked to Pune - including two flights to Dubai, two to Bangkok, and one to Singapore, the city is becoming a significant aviation hub.' Dhoke emphasised that the operations were conducted efficiently without any major issues or delays, contributing to a seamless travel experience for passengers. 'There was no hassle and no operational constraints, and flight delays were minimal. We are optimistic that this number will continue to rise in the near future, especially as more destinations get connected and the frequency of flights increases,' he said. According to information shared by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) Pune, the flight operations were conducted smoothly throughout the day from the Lohegaon-based Pune Airport. A total of 212 flights operated to and from 35 domestic and three international destinations. Of these, 106 flights arrived in Pune from major cities such as Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, and others, bringing in more than 18,000 passengers. The remaining 106 flights departed to various locations, carrying over 18,000 passengers to their respective destinations in India and abroad. Rohit Varma, an information technology (IT) professional and frequent flyer headed to Bengaluru, said, 'I travel frequently for work, and I've seen how Pune Airport has evolved over the past few years. But what I experienced on Sunday was truly impressive. Despite the large number of flights, the check-in process was smooth, security lines were well managed, and there were no delays. It was surprising to see so many flights operating seamlessly in one day. The addition of more destinations and international connections like Dubai and Singapore is a big plus for business travellers like me. It saves time and eliminates the need to travel to Mumbai for certain flights. Pune is definitely stepping up as a major travel hub.'
