Gainsborough fire caused by exploding vape
An exploding vape caused a major blaze which badly damaged a row of houses in Gainsborough, fire bosses have said.
The fire started at a property on Grey Street at about 13:15 BST on Friday before spreading to three other homes.
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service said three of the homes had been left uninhabitable, but said nobody had been injured.
The service said an investigation would examine why the vape exploded.
Eyewitnesses told the BBC that the vape was being charged on a bed and had burst into flames.
The fire service said eight engines were deployed, including some from neighbouring brigades.
Helen Tooley, group manager at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said three of the houses were not habitable.
She said: "It's [fire] gone through the roof spaces, unfortunately. So quite significant damage to those three houses. The fourth one, next to it, there is a hole in the roof, and there was extensive smoke damage as well in that one."
Ms Tooley said investigators had concluded their work at the scene. However, she said they needed to clarify exactly how the fire started.
Offering general advice to residents, Ms Tooley said: "If you are using vapes or any electronic equipment that needs charging, please use the proper chargers. Make sure it's in a safe place. Unplug it if you're not in the room."

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — A hot-air balloon caught fire and tumbled from the sky on Saturday in Brazil 's southern state of Santa Catarina, killing eight people, firefighters said. Jorginho Mello said in a video on X. Mello said he has asked authorities to head to the municipality 'to do as much as possible to rescue, to help, to take to hospital, to comfort the families.' Sobrevoar added that it was suspending all operations for an indefinite period. Praia Grande is a common destination for hot-air ballooning, a popular activity in parts of southern Brazil. The area is famous for its dramatic canyon landscapes and is known as the 'Brazilian Cappadocia,' a reference to a region in central Turkey famed worldwide for stunning hot-air balloon rides. Last Sunday, a balloon came down in Sao Paulo state, killing a 27-year-old woman and injuring 11 other people, G1 reported.

Woman aims to fix 'appalling' litter problem
A woman aiming to fix what she describes as an "appalling" litter problem, is leading a team of volunteers on a 22 mile (35km) overnight walk to collect rubbish. Gill Thomas, Stroud District Council's Member Champion for Litter and Clean Environment, has organised many long-distance personal challenges where she will litter pick along the way. Ms Thomas is also running a campaign which aims to provide primary school children with litter pickers which they can use to keep the area around their school clean. "It's about raising awareness and trying to do something to make a difference," she said. Throughout the run, she picked up 22 bags of rubbish along the 13.1 mile (21km) route. So far, 45 schools in the Stroud District area have signed up for the Litter Pickers for Little Pickers campaign and more than 1,400 grabbers have been handed out. Ms Thomas, who this month has been given an award for her community efforts, is additionally raising money to buy books about the importance of protecting the environment for the children. She said the response has been "incredible" and shows the "strong desire" for action in the community, which she said will benefit more than 7,000 children in the area. Ms Thomas said: "Some people have the attitude that it's okay to drop rubbish in the streets, as someone else - usually the council - will clear up after them. "But the council can't be out every day as well as doing weekly bin collections; so it's the responsibility of all of us to help keep our streets tidy.
