His era symbolises a prosperous India. Whenever we discuss Atal ji, the 'Pokhran nuclear test' and 'Kargil victory' are mentioned first," said Majhi.
Majhi said the former PM represented a party but was a true leader in people's hearts. "Whether in power or opposition, he was a living example of truth, justice and patriotism. He was a friend to all, respected across party lines," he added.
In the function organised by Atal Yuvashakti, Odisha, Majhi presented the 'Atal Samman 2025' to individuals who made the state and country proud with their talents in various fields. Litterateur Pratibha Ray received the Atal Shreshtha Odia Ratna Samman.
Health minister Mukesh Mahaling, industry minister Sampad Chandra Swain, among others attended the programme.

Railway worker killed, another injured in IED blast at Odisha border
A railway employee was killed and another seriously injured in an IED blast allegedly triggered by Naxalites near Rejanda, close to Topadih village in Odisha's Bimalgarh district, on Sunday, officials said. His colleague, Budhram Munda, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment. The incident, which occurred near the Odisha-Jharkhand border, triggered panic in the area and disrupted rail traffic along the affected route. Oram's body has been kept at RGH hospital morgue. ADM (Railways), Bondamunda, Naval Kishan Singh, said, "A bomb blast occured in the Karampada section. One of our staff members died in it... This incident took place in the morning while the employee was carrying track maintenance work." Railway personnel killed in IED blast in Odisha-Jharkhand border
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Bhubaneswar, Aug 3 (PTI) A railway personnel was killed in an IED blast on a railway track near Odisha-Jharkhand border in Sundergarh district on Sunday, police said. The deceased was identified as Itua Oram, working as a 'key man' in the Indian railways, the police said. Police suspected involvement of Maoists in the blast as Maoist posters were found near the blast site in Sundargarh district. The blast took place on the railway tracks connecting Karampada and Renjda under the Bimlagarh section. The track got minor damage. However, movement of any passenger train was not affected as it is a loop line, said a spokesperson of the South Eastern Railway. The Maoists had given a call to observe a martyrs' week or 'Shahid Saptah' from July 28 to August 3. The blast site is under Saranda forest range, a local police officer. Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed grief over the demise of the railway personnel in the blast and announced Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to his family. The financial assistance would be provided from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF), the chief minister's office (CMO) said in a post on X. ‘All farmers to be covered under central scheme': CM Mohan Charan Majhi
BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday announced that the state government has launched a drive to ensure enrolment of all eligible farmers under the PM KISAN and CM KISAN schemes. Addressing a state-level function at ICAR-CIFA on the occasion of disbursement of PM KISAN installment worth `20,500 crore to 9.7 crore farmers across the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi, Majhi said a saturation drive is being undertaken in all districts to ensure that no eligible farmer is left out of any of the schemes. The CM distributed Rs 697 crore under PM KISAN Samman Nidhi scheme to more than 34.85 lakh farmers of the state at the state-level event. Stating that Odisha has implemented many schemes for the benefit of farmers during the last year, the CM said under CM KISAN, more than 50 lakh farmers of the state are getting an aid of `4,000 per year.
