Marcus Rashford in line for Man Utd reunion after Barcelona transfer move
Marcus Rashford is set to come up against ex-team-mate Jesse Lingard once his move to Barcelona is finalised. Rashford, 27, will join Barca on a season-long loan after the La Liga champions reached an agreement with Manchester United.
The deal is a straight loan with an option to buy for £26million at the end of the 2025-26 season. Rashford has agreed to take a 15 per cent cut on his £325,000-a-week wage which Barcelona will cover in full.
Barca have prioritised the England international after cooling their interest in Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, who'd cost more than £60m. Hansi Flick recently described both players as 'fantastic' but it's Rashford who's heading to Catalunya and he could be part of Barcelona's squad for their pre-season tour of Asia which begins next week.
Flick's title winners begin their run of friendlies by facing Japanese side Vissel Kobe next Sunday. They'll then travel to South Korea to play against Seoul, where Lingard now plies his trade, on Saturday, July 31.
Rashford formed a close friendship with Lingard, 32, having both coming through the Red Devils' academy before spending six years together in the first-team. The midfielder left United in 2022, joining Nottingham Forest on a free transfer.
After Lingard returned to Old Trafford in December 2022, he and Rashford shared an exchange on Instagram. "More than just a friend, good to see you bro," Rashford wrote, to which Lingard replied: "All love bro."
In February of this year, Lingard defended himself after he, Rashford and Paul Pogba were accused of 'destroying the culture' at United by a fan. "Please explain how me paul and Marcus destroyed Manchester United's culture?" the Seoul captain replied.
"Lool we was just enjoying our life of we played for biggest club in the world of course we made mistakes and we learn but we gonna have fun and smile and dance."

Lingard's connection to United remains strong, having woken up at 4am to watch May's Europa League final. "They will always be one of the biggest clubs in the world and supporters will support them through thick and thin," the former Red Devils star told BBC Sport.
"It might be a long-term project with [Ruben] Amorim. He knows what he wants to do. It's tough when you're not in the Champions League to attract players so he was relying on winning the Europa League. It's harder to recruit when you're not in the Champions League. It's 100 per cent a factor."

Rio Ferdinand gives verdict on Marcus Rashford's pending Barcelona transfer
Marcus Rashford is on the verge of leaving Manchester United for the second time in as many transfer windows after the club agreed a loan deal with Barcelona last week Rio Ferdinand has expressed his disappointment over Marcus Rashford 's latest move away from Manchester United as the forward closes in on a transfer to Barcelona. Rashford, 27, has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford and spent the second half of the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Aston Villa. The England star is now poised to seal a dream move to Barcelona, who have agreed terms on a season-long loan deal with an option. Before rediscovering his form during his stint at Villa, Rashford had struggled in a United shirt and looked far from his best. And while a fresh start abroad should do the talented attacker the world of good, Ferdinand still thinks its a shame that he is leaving Manchester United. The former United defender has also questioned the circumstances behind his exit, speculating that there is more to Rashford's situation than meets the eye. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: "There must have been so much going on behind the scenes that we're just not aware of. And Marcus isn't someone who really wants to talk and do interviews, so you have to respect that. "But I'm sure it'll come out in the wash at some point. Is it because of a lack of form? A lack of confidence? Mismanagement? Have the club failed him? Or is it down to him? Is there injuries we don't know about? Has he lost that desire? That form is gone and he can't rekindle it and can't get it back? "What are the issues that have led to a young kid that's a graduate of the academy at Manchester United, which is famous for all of the great players that have come through there, that he says he wants to leave?" Rashford arrived in Spain on Sunday night to put the finishing touches to his move to Barcelona, who will have a £26million option to buy the forward outright which becomes active next summer. The player's desire to join the Spanish giants has been well documented and he even hinted as much during a recent appearance on a Spanish YouTube channel, XBuyer. When they asked if wanted to play alongside Lamine Yamal, Rashford replied: "Yeah, sure. Everybody in the world wants to play with the best. So hopefully, we'll see." He went on to add: "Spain is nice, it's not too far from home. If I'm training over a long period, my family can come for a few days, it's a nice location and good weather." Gary Anderson slams 'boring' new age of darts players and begs old rival to return
Gary Anderson admits he longs for rivals like Phil Taylor to return to the darts circuit as he opened up on the new generation, labelling them boring and claiming they're not as good as they think they are Gary Anderson has taken aim at the new generation of darts stars and claimed that they are "boring, absolutely boring" as he longed for the "good old days" to come back. The Flying Scotsman made his feelings known during the opening round of the World Matchplay as he hailed the sport's environment back when the likes of Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis were among the top guns. Anderson revealed how, despite being rivals on the oche, the players on tour would socialise with each other. Nowadays, in an era where social media has taken over, the young generation who are now competing with the veterans have little interest in having a chat with Anderson claiming they're "too busy looking at their phones". Anderson, who won his first round match in the World Matchplay as he dispatched of Luke Woodhouse, admitted that the youngsters have taken centre stage but was keen to take them down a peg or two. He told SportsBoom: 'The good old days, that's when darts players were darts players. Me, Lewis, Taylor, Kevin [Painter], we used to sit and have a crack and a laugh. Aidy Lewis was brilliant, and I wish he comes back. I do miss him. 'Nowadays nobody talks to anybody. You don't have a good laugh; you don't have a bit of banter. The youngsters are boring, absolutely boring. You talk to them, they're too busy looking at their phones. "These youngsters, they're here to do a job. They've got to the stage now that they've realised, they've got a great chance in life to make a lot of bloody money and boost themselves. "But they need to calm down and think this is my job and that's it. They're good but they aren't that good. That's what you've got to remember.' Littler's rivals have commented on how the sport's sensation conducts himself behind the scenes. The Nuke makes no secret of the fact he loves his gaming, which is a major interest when he's not competing. Stephen Bunting previously told The Express: 'We see him week in week out on the Pro Tour. He's literally sat there on his phone, he'll be watching Manchester United play, or he'll be playing a game." It doesn't appear to be impacting the teenager though as he averaged over a ton during his round one battering of Ryan Searle in Blackpool. Littler cruised into the second round by virtue of a 10-2 victory over Searle, landing his first-ever win at the Winter Gardens in the process. Top seed and last year's winner Luke Humphries was the shock exit of round one. Gian van Veen pulled off a shock to dump out the reigning champion with a 10-8 victory on the opening night. Humphries ended the match with just a 29 per cent success rate on the doubles and 20 doubles missed.
