Tommy Fury open to Mike Tyson fight - but only under one condition

Daily Mirrora day ago

Many were critical following Tyson's return to the ring against Paul last November - but Fury himself has opened up as to whether he would consider fighting the boxing veteran
Tommy Fury admits he would face Mike Tyson in the boxing ring - but only if the price was right.
Tyson - a former heavyweight world champion - retired from professional boxing back in 2005 after losing to Kevin McBride. The 58-year-old then made the return to the ring, in an exhibition setting, against Roy Jones Jr back in 2020. The pair fought to a rather uninspiring draw.

However, four years later, it was announced that 'Iron' would return to the professional ring against Jake Paul. The pair were due to go head-to-head last July, but the boxing veteran withdrew from the clash after suffering an ulcer flare up on a flight. The two stars would go on to fight last November in a controversial showdown in which Paul won. Despite failing to get the knockout, the 'Problem Child' cruised to a victory on points.

Many have since been quick to slam the event - despite the stunning viewing figures released by Netflix just days after the showdown. On the topic of Tyson, when asked whether he would fight the boxing veteran, Fury told Eddie Hall on The Good, The Bad & The Beast podcast: "Listen, if someone is offering you £50 million, what are you going to do? Listen, everybody back home can say what they want... if someone is coming at you with £50 million, you are going to fight a 60-year-old."
Tyson reportedly pocketed a guaranteed $20m (£15.8m) for his participation in the clash with Paul, while the latter took home $40m (£31.4m). While Fury is seemingly interested in a lucrative payday, it seems as if Tyson will not be making another return to boxing.
Back in December, the 58-year-old decided not to return to the ring after losing to Paul following discussions with his wife. His son Amir, revealed his stepmother has stated that Mike is "done." In an interview with Seconds Out, Amir said: 'I think he's done. My stepmom, she's saying he's done and they're a team. That's husband-and-wife stuff.'
Back in Janaury, Tyson made a worrying admission after stating he has not fully recovered from the Paul fight. He told the New York Post 'I feel pretty good. I don't know if I'm 100 per cent recovered, but I feel good.' Back in December, the boxing veteran admitted he couldn't remember a large chunk of the fight. "I don't remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out," he told Fox Sports Radio.
"I haven't watched the fight. You know what I remember... coming back from the first round and Jake was doing some sort of bow... that's the last thing I remember." He went on to add: "I wasn't tired, I wasn't sweaty. I went to the house we were staying in, I left the house with my wife and kids, went to the after-party then went back."

F1 and Drive to Survive push motorsport growth at key Scottish tracks

And while racing has always captured the hearts of a big audience, those numbers have been put into the stratosphere since another streaming giant, Netflix, began its reality show Drive to Survive in 2019. Chronicling the ups and downs behind the scenes at some of the major teams, the show has driven major audience growth, particularly in America, across seven seasons of intense action. With numbers of eyeballs on the sport hitting a new peak, there's hope that tracks here in Scotland might enjoy a share of the burgeoning interest. Stuart Grey, Knockhill director of events and marketing, is sure the famous Fife track will see an uplift in visitors. He said: "We've had a large number of Formula One drivers race at Knockhill over the years, including Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. These huge names have raced on that very same bit of tarmac so we're doing a promotion at the moment to win tickets to go and see the movie and drive Knockhill, so it definitely must have a positive effect. Read more: "There's, without a doubt, been an increase in interest from younger people, and in particular females. That has been quite marked because of Drive to Survive. They've got a follow-up one which has just been released on the F1 Academy, the girls-only championship. I think when you're on such a large platform like Netflix and now in the movies, particularly with Brad Pitt, it's bound to have a spark of interest for a number of people, no doubt about it. "I think it will boost numbers but also there will be more awareness, there'll be more interest and there's bound to be a bit of a spin-off, if you like, no pun intended. I don't think it will transform things but there will be a rise given the worldwide exposure that the movie's getting." Alison Hayes, marketing director at Ingliston Supercar Driving Experience on the outskirts of Edinburgh, also sees potential for growth following the film's release. She said: "Certainly on some of our social media, we're going to be pushing and linking into that to try and capture that new market of people who are suddenly exploring a passion for Formula One. "Finding out more information about any subject tends to increase the interest in that area. Because the more you understand, the more interested you get and the more you want to find out about it. So yeah, absolutely, I can see it. But hopefully there'll be a knock on to kind of other motorsport events and car clubs in general. "Since 2019 when the business started, seen an increase year on year since when we started. We usually expect around about 250 people per day. We haven't hit the 300 mark yet but usually around 250 people a day. That does include, we do have some people that just come along to watch or to support their family members that have an experience and we have age ranges. We have certainly at Ingliston, we have our junior drivers there aged from 12 to 16 and we do have much older drivers up to I think 97 is one of our oldest customers. So quite a wide age range." David Coulthard in his McLaren pomp back in 1998 (Image: SNS Group 0141 221 3602) One thing that could further electrify interest is a Scottish competitor for the nation to get behind, a Coulthard or Jackie Stewart to capture the imagination once more. "If you've got Andy Murray playing tennis and winning Wimbledon, the number of people playing tennis in Scotland goes up," mused Grey. "If you've got Bob McIntyre playing golf and coming second last week, the role model effect is quite significant. "Only yesterday my colleague Gordon Shedden won in the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park. It was live in front of millions of viewers and I'm sure will it have a measurable effect in our attendance in August when he'll be racing in front of his home fans."

EXCLUSIVE Meghan's tea supplier revealed? As Ever teabags and flower sprinkles appear to come from brand with a factory 2,000 miles from Montecito that also makes Bridgerton-themed drinks - as royal sells product for three times the price

Meghan Markle appears to be using a retailer linked to Netflix to produce her As Ever herbal tea - which she sells for three times the price, MailOnline can reveal today. The Duchess of Sussex 's hibiscus, lemon ginger and peppermint teas seem to be made by a firm headquartered in Larkspur, California - 350 miles away from her Montecito mansion - and with a factory 2,000 miles away in Nashville, Illinois. The company, called The Republic of Tea, already sells a range of teas on its website featuring the branding of Netflix drama Bridgerton and ITV series Downton Abbey. The firm is believed to be the original supplier of all Meghan's $12 (£9) teas and $15 (£11) flower sprinkles, and the website for the royal's lifestyle brand As Ever states that orders will be 'delivered from the Republic of Tea's fulfillment centers'. As of yesterday, metadata on As Ever's website also read 'Brand: 'republic-of-tea'' on the product pages for the teas and flower sprinkles, which first went on sale in April. But after MailOnline contacted Meghan's team for comment, this was changed to say 'As Ever store', in line with the other products such as her fruit spreads and crepe mix. The Republic of Tea website sells 'Natural Hibiscus Tea Bags' for $11.50 (£8.45) for 36 in a tin or 32c (24p) per cup; or $70 (£51.45) for 250 in a pack or 28c (21p) a cup. But on the As Ever website, hibiscus teabags are $12 (£9) for a tin of 12 with the As Ever branding, costing $1 (73p) per cup – three times the price on Republic of Tea. It is not clear whether Meghan bought her tea directly from Republic of Tea and had it packaged separately, or whether the firm did the product, packaging and branding. However, its round tea bags are natural and unbleached, while Meghan's As Ever tea comes in triangular bags with a string, indicating that they are not identical products. The As Ever website has sold herbal hibiscus tea at $12 (£9) for a tin of 12, or $1 (73p) per cup The Republic of Tea website sells 'Natural Hibiscus Tea Bags' with Nigerian hibiscus for $11.50 (£8.45) for 36 in a tin or 32c (24p) per cup; or $70 (£51.45) for 250 in a pack or 28c (21p) a cup The brand also sells loose leaf tea, which can be then packaged into tea bags. The Republic of Tea website also reveals it uses 'caffeine-free Nigerian hibiscus' - which is notable given Meghan visited the country in a 'quasi-royal tour' with her husband Prince Harry in May 2024. The Duchess also revealed on her Spotify podcast Archetypes in October 2022 that she found out in a DNA-based genealogy test that she is '43 per cent Nigerian'. There is also a nod to the partnership in the website's FAQs, under the 'Products' section, which has the question: 'How do you bring your products to life?' The answer is listed as: 'We partner with best-in-class vendors to bring our product ideas to life - translating our founder's recipes and bespoke concepts into beautiful, scalable goods.' And in the 'Shipping Policy' section, there is a note saying: 'Please note that our products are delivered from the Republic of Tea's fulfillment centres.' A representative for the Duchess declined to comment to MailOnline yesterday. It comes three months after she released her Netflix show 'With Love, Meghan', which forms part of the Sussexes' £80million deal with the streaming giant. A second series is also on the way, and As Ever is a partnership with Netflix. The Republic of Tea was founded in 1992 and now has a collection of 350 natural teas including 'The Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story Teas' at $15 (£11) per tin. It was set up by Mel Ziegler, Patricia Ziegler and Bill Rosenzweig after the Zieglers founded fashion chain Banana Republic, which they sold to Gap in 1983. Republic of Tea was then bought by entrepreneur Ron Rubin just 18 months after it was founded, and his son Todd Rubin became its president in 2015. Last Friday, Meghan revealed a trio of new products under her As Ever brand as she launched a Napa Valley rosé wine, an apricot spread and a new honey. In the 'Shipping Policy' section of Meghan's As Ever website, there is a note saying: 'Please note that our products are delivered from the Republic of Tea's fulfillment centres' The Duchess unveiled the fresh items as she also released a restock of six of the items from her first batch two months after all nine sold out within an hour. The rosé is Meghan's first foray into the wine market - with the product sourced from the famous region of California, up the coast from her Montecito mansion. The 2023 wine, which will be available to buy from July 1 for an unknown price, has been described by her brand as having notes of 'soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality and a lasting finish' and a 'bespoke blend' which is 'launching just in time for summer entertaining'. One of the other new products is a $28 (£21) 'limited edition' orange blossom honey which Meghan said had a 'beautiful golden hue, an enticing aroma, delicate floral notes and subtle citrus undertones' and would be 'a standout addition to your pantry'. The other new item is the apricot spread - one in keepsake packaging at $14 (£10) and the other just in a jar at $9 (£7). Meghan said this 'newest spread balances a delicate sweetness and a gentle brightness that lets this beautiful stone fruit shine'. Another new product last Friday was apricot spread in keepsake packaging (left) or a jar (right) Meghan's As Ever products including her jam launched in April and rapidly sold out Announcing the items, Meghan said: 'We are pleased to share that many favourites from our debut As Ever collection are back – and, we've added something new. We hope you find some special treats that bring extra joy to you and your loved ones.' In April the Duchess released her first nine As Ever products including raspberry spread in keepsake packaging for $14 (£10) or a normal jar for $9 (£7), with the brand describing the collection as being 'infused with joy, love, and a touch of whimsy'. Others were flower sprinkles for $15 (£11), wildflower honey with honeycomb for $28 (£21), a crepe mix and a shortbread cookie mix with flower sprinkles, both $14 (£10). Three types of herbal tea also came out at the same time - hibiscus, lemon ginger and peppermint - for $12 (£9) each. All the products sold out in about 45 minutes. The products restocked by Meghan last Friday were the three herbal teas, the floral sprinkles, crepe mix and shortbread cookie mix – but not the raspberry spread.
