Montreal Canadiens goalie Sam Montembeault celebrates wedding with a poutine and steamé

Montreal Canadiens
Montreal Canadiens goalie Sam Montembeault became the latest Hab to get hitched this summer, and he celebrated his wedding to Daryanne Ayotte over the weekend in the most Quebec way possible: with a poutine and steamé hot dog.
A clip of the netminder enjoying the dish quickly made the social media rounds.

Commenters on the RDS Instagram post pointed out poutine is a pretty common addition to any midnight snack table at a Quebec wedding. Noted poutine TikTok influencer Olivier Primeau chimed in as well with his approval.
A number of Habs past and present were guests at the wedding, including Alex Carrier, Mike Matheson, Jonathan Drouin, Brendan Gallagher, Rafael Harvey-Pinard and David Savard.

Montembeault wasn't the only Hab to get married over the off-season. Patrik Laine's wedding to Jordan Smith in Palm Beach, Florida, made People Magazine, while captain Nick Suzuki married longtime partner Caitlin Fitzgerald at a private ceremony Turks and Caicos before having a large get-together at the Four Seasons Montreal.
Montembeault had a career year for the Canadiens in 2024-25, nearly doubling his previous high with 31 victories, including four shutouts.

Half of the bridge-to-bridge South Shore River Promenade bike path has reopened

Half of the bike path on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River has reopened with the second half slated to reopen next year. (CMM) For the first time this summer, cyclists wanting to cruise along the South Shore of the St. Lawrence River from the Jacques-Cartier Bridge to the Champlain can take advantage of the Greater Montreal riverfront path between Saint-Lambert and the estacade. The first phase of work on the 14-kilometre span linking Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal to Ste-Catherine began May 12, and the span between the park and the Champalin Bridge Estacade was completed and opened on the weekend. The formerly dirt path is now paved with a sidewalk on a route replete with birds and other wildlife, along with a pristine view of the Montreal city skyline. Resurfacing and other work on the span between the bridge and the Ste-Catherine lock began on Aug. 4 and will be finished in December. 'By the opening of the 2026 season, the 13.4 km of cycle paths that make up the Promenade fluviale du Grand Montréal will have been modernized and will be accessible to the public,' a news release from the Metropolitan Montreal Community (CMM) reads. 'The public will then be able to travel peacefully between the cities of Sainte-Catherine and Saint-Lambert, passing through Delson, Candiac, La Prairie and Brossard, and even reach the city of Montreal via the Estacade or Parc Jean-Drapeau.' The official inauguration of the fully open path will take place in spring 2026. The bike-only span is a hugely popular path for cyclists and will host the International Cycling Union Road World Championships in September 2026. 'These Championships will be the largest sporting event the city has seen since the 1976 Olympic Games,' the CMM said.

Singer Tamar Braxton says she ‘almost died' in weekend accident

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Singer, actor and reality TV star Tamar Braxton said Tuesday that she 'almost died' in a weekend accident that she doesn't remember. 'I was found in a pool of blood from my friend with a face injury,' Braxton wrote in an Instagram post. 'I fractured my nose, lost some teeth and mobility.' She added, 'I don't even know what happened to me.' Braxton, 48, earlier in the day had posted 'Thank you God for waking me up today,' in an Instagram story. She said she was getting calls after and was struggling to talk so she shared what had happened to her. The post also said 'the way I look at life now is totally different. As my health is on the mend my mental journey begins… pray for me for real.' An email to Braxton's manager seeking more details was not immediately answered. Braxton was part of a singing group with her sisters, including Toni Braxton, who went on to a major solo career. They and other family members appeared on the reality series 'Braxton Family Values' starting in 2011, and Tamar Braxton has since appeared in spin-offs and other reality shows. As an actor, her recent credits include the TV series 'Kingdom Business.' And she has spent much of the year on a solo singing tour.
