Damascus denies rumors of nightclubs, restaurants being shut down
Syrian social media has recently been awash with rumors claiming that authorities in Damascus ordered the nighttime closure of nightclubs and restaurants in the capital. Some users shared fabricated videos and statements falsely attributed to local officials.
However, the Damascus Governorate issued an official statement on Saturday via the Old Damascus City Directorate, denying the claims and stating that they are "completely untrue."
The governorate clarified that no instructions were given to close tourism establishments at night and no security interventions were carried out for such a purpose.
Instead, authorities said the actions taken were part of regular inspection tours to ensure compliance with licensing laws. According to Germany's DPA news agency, some establishments were closed for operating without licenses or violating their permit conditions.
The governorate emphasized that all measures were conducted legally and under the supervision of the competent authorities.

The UN envoy explained that following the easing of sanctions, many investors from Arab countries, as well as from Turkey, Europe, and the United States, have expressed interest in investing in Syria. 'Israeli' strikes hit Syrian coast, Damascus reports civilian killed
An 'Israeli' airstrike on Syria's western coast killed one civilian and injured three others on Friday, according to Syrian state media. The strikes targeted military facilities in the Latakia region, marking the first such attack in nearly a month. Syria's official news agency SANA reported that the attack hit near the village of Zama in the Jableh countryside, south of Latakia. Syrian state television described the incident as an 'Israeli occupation airstrike.' The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the strikes targeted military positions and weapons depots in both the Latakia and Tartus governorates. In a statement Friday night, 'Israeli' Defense Minister Israel Katz said 'Israel' destroyed strategic weapons across Syria that posed a 'direct threat' to the country. 'There will be no immunity for anyone,' he said. 'We will not allow threats to the State of Israel and will continue defending its security.' The escalation comes just weeks after reports emerged of indirect negotiations with Israel in May aimed at reducing tensions.

Hundreds of Syrian return home voluntarily from Jordan
Residents of the Syrian city of Homs welcomed a convoy of families returning voluntarily from Jordan after displacement during the Syrian uprising. The return was organized by the humanitarian group Waqf Farah in coordination with the Homs Governorate. Yahiya Rifai, a representative of the organization, told Syria's official news agency SANA that the convoy is the second to depart Jordan's Azraq camp voluntarily as part of ongoing efforts to support stability and the return of displaced families to their hometowns and villages. Rifai said the arrangements followed a visit by Waqf Farah's founder, Dr. Mohammad Rahif Hakmi, to Azraq camp, where coordination took place with relevant authorities to facilitate the return. The convoy included 235 families—around 730 people—who were previously forcibly displaced from Syria to Jordan. They arrived in Homs province aboard buses, accompanied by trucks carrying their belongings. The organization also distributed food baskets and clothing to all returning families. The convoy entered Syria through the Nassib border crossing in Daraa province on Saturday and continued to 14 residential areas in rural Homs, with support from Waqf Farah and in coordination with Syrian, Jordanian, and Emirati authorities.
