Francesco Acerbi has been an Inter Milan player for the past three years. He joined from Lazio in the summer of 2022.
During that period, Acerbi has been a stalwart at the back for Inter.
However, there is no getting around the fact that Acerbi is now well into his thirties. He will turn 38 next season.

And according to Libero, Inter Milan are considering cutting Francesco Acerbi loose.
The Nerazzurri want to focus on the future and build their project around young players. Therefore, they are ready to try and sign teenage defender Giovanni Leoni from Parma.

As such, Inter may decide that there is no room for Acerbi.
The 37-year-old is under contract with Inter until the end of next June. However, Inter do have the option to terminate the veteran defender's deal.
As Libero note, there is a clause in Acerbi's contract. If Inter give the former Lazio and Sassuolo defender a €500,000 payout, then his contract will end.

Revealed – How France U21 Star Will Be Used At Inter Milan Next Season
Inter Milan are planning to have Ange-Yoan Bonny be the backup to Marcus Thuram next season. This according to today's print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInter1908. Striker Ange-Yoan Bonny joined Inter Milan this summer. The Frenchman arrived on a five-year deal from Parma. Bonny had been a Parma player for four years, having signed for the Emilian club in 2021. And last season was Bonny's first in Serie A. He made the step up well, helping Parma to remain in the top flight. Therefore, Bonny caught Inter's eye. And the fact that Cristian Chivu took over as Inter coach following his successful stint in charge of Parma certainly didn't hurt Bonny as a target for the Nerazzurri. Inter Milan See Ange-Yoan Bonny As Marcus Thuram Backup PARMA, ITALY – DECEMBER 15: Ange-Yoan Bonny of Parma Calcio reacts during the Serie A match between Parma and Verona at Stadio Ennio Tardini on December 15, 2024 in Parma, Italy. (Photo by) Clearly, Inter Milan are not planning to make Ange-Yoan Bonny a first-choice striker right away. However, that leads to the question of exactly what the 21-year-old's role will be at the Nerazzurri next season. Particularly considering the expected arrival of Ademola Lookman or a different attacker to facilitate the switch to a 3-4-2-1 formation. According to Tuttosport, Inter's plan is to have Bonny be the backup to fellow Frenchman Marcus Thuram. Clearly, Thuram will not start every match next season. And Inter's idea is that, rather than having an older player to back up the 27-year-old, Bonny can be his understudy, learning and improving.

Report – Expectations Sky High For Breakout Young Striker At Inter Milan
Expectations are reportedly sky high for striker Francesco Pio Esposito behind the scenes at Inter Milan. This according to today's print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInter1908. Francesco Pio Esposito will become part of Inter Milan's senior squad next season. Having joined the Nerazzurri youth academy at the age of thirteen, Pio Esposito starred at several youth team levels. Then, he spent the last two seasons on loan with Spezia. And it was last campaign that the young striker really broke through. He managed to score nineteen goals for Spezia, nearly firing the Ligurians to promotion from Serie B. Therefore, it was little surprise that virtually every club in Serie A was interested in signing Pio Esposito this summer. Naturally, Inter considered loaning Pio Esposito out. A stint with a team in the top flight would ensure regular playing time and the opportunity for the 20-year-old to develop. But in the end, that is not the route that Inter took. Expectations Sky High For Francesco Pio Esposito At Inter Milan SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – JUNE 25: Francesco Esposito #94 of FC Internazionale Milano celebrates scoring his team's first goal with Lautaro Martinez #10 during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 group E match between FC Internazionale Milano and CA River Plate at Lumen Field on June 25, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by) According to Tuttosport, Inter are not just making a hopeful bet on Pio Esposito. On the contrary, after the young striker's performances at the Club World Cup, Inter believe that there is a real chance that the 20-year-old can make a big impact in their first team. Pio Esposito has a profile that Inter didn't previously have in their squad. A real out-and-out Number Nine, and a physical battering ram of a centre-forward. The 20-year-old's combination of physicality, holdup play, and finishing ability mean that he will certainly have his chance to play next season. And within Inter, the feeling is that Pio Esposito could become a key player next season.
