Seán Gallagher says he will ‘reflect' on claims of attack on presidential hopeful Gareth Sheridan

FORMER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE Seán Gallagher said he will 'reflect' on comments made by businessman Gareth Sheridan, who claimed he has been the victim of a 'coordinated attack' on his character. Sheridan, who launched his official bid for the presidency last week, claimed that the 'attack' was carried out by people associated and in Gallagher's 'circle.' Sheridan made the claims about his former business partner at his campaign launch in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin last week, musing at the outset of his press conference that: 'Perhaps somebody is taking our breakup a little bit worse than me'. Gallagher left Sheridan's multimillion-euro pharmaceutical company, Nutriband, after serving as chairman from 2017 until 2021 after the company decided to replace him. Sheridan, the 35-year-old who is hoping to run as an independent candidate if he can get the backing from the four local authorities required, was quick to state last week: 'I'm not saying for a moment that Seán is behind this or is involved in any way. Advertisement 'For a couple of days now, we've been receiving essentially copy and paste question lists with minimal time to respond from various different outlets with the exact same questions. Something just seems a little off.' The Journal / YouTube Sheridan used his press conference last week to shed some light on the breakdown in the pair's relationship, stating that ahead of Nutriband being listed publicly on the stock exchange in 2021, it had received advice that it would be better to have a chairperson with capital markets experience. 'We proposed this to Seán. We asked him to voluntarily step aside on the same remuneration,' Sheridan said. The Journal / YouTube Gallagher responds Speaking this morning, Gallagher said the comments do not require a reaction, but a response. 'I was away for the last couple of weeks. Firstly, down in Clare and on the Aran islands with my wife and kids, and then last week abroad in the sunshine,' he told the Joe Finnegan Show on Northern Sound radio. 'I made a bad mistake of heading away when the sunshine was arriving in Ireland. So, truthfully, I was more concerned about keeping my bald head protected from the sun than I was about watching what was happening in the election. Related Reads What's the beef between this previous and current presidential hopeful? 'But it has been drawn to my attention for sure. So, rather than react to the comments – I think it doesn't require a reaction – more a response. 'I will reflect on what was said and I am gathering that at the moment, and then I'll decide on what to respond. But that is, as we all know, part of the electioneering that goes on.' Gallagher, who previously contested the presidential election in 2011 and again in 2018, has ruled himself out of the upcoming election. He said: 'You can rest assured, my name will not be going forward. I am not running. 'I'm very focused on business and a lot of the other activities I'm involved in, and so I'm very committed in that space. 'I think it is great that there are more people coming forward, and I think there are more to come.'

Massive car brand recalls over 103,000 MORE motors due to ‘clicking' or ‘rattling' noise

Read on for checks owners can do Rear-ly serious Massive car brand recalls over 103,000 MORE motors due to 'clicking' or 'rattling' noise MASSIVE car giant has issued an urgent recall for over 103,000 more vehicles – after owners reported a mysterious 'clicking' or 'rattling' noise coming from their motors. Ford is recalling more than 103,000 F-150 pickups in the US after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) flagged damaged axle bolts. 4 Ford recalls F-150s over dodgy bolts Credit: Reuters 4 The car brand ordered 103,000 pickups back to the garage Credit: Alamy The issue could cause a 'clicking' or 'rattling' noise while driving, and in the worst-case scenario, may affect the vehicle's handling - prompting the safety warning and recall. They were recalled after faulty axle bolts were linked to potential rollaways and loss of drive power. A broken axle bolt can damage the axle hub splines - the parts that transfer power from the axle to the wheels. If the splines are damaged, vehicles could roll away when in park without the handbrake on, or lose drive power while on the move, raising the risk of a crash, the US auto safety body said. The report warns that a loose rear axle bolt could cause a clicking noise, while a broken bolt might produce a rattling sound. Ford dealers will replace the rear axle shaft assemblies free of charge to fix the problem. The recall covers F-150 models from 2023 to 2025, with NHTSA estimating around 1% of vehicles are affected. CHECKS & PRECAUTIONS There are checks and precautions that drivers can take to check if they are affected by the recall. Drivers following these steps can also reduce the risk while waiting for the official repair. Ford dealership files for bankruptcy after recall sparked freeze in sales – but owner insists it's 'business as usual' HISTORY OF RECALLS This isn't the first time Ford has had to issue a recall for its popular F-150 series — the model has faced previous fixes for issues ranging from engine glitches to brake problems. Ford has recalled several F-150 models - along with other Ford and Lincoln vehicles - due to potential brake fluid leaks from the brake master cylinder, which can impact braking performance. There have been recalls for the potential loss of power brake assist. Some F-150s, along with other models like the Bronco and Explorer, have been recalled due to potential engine valve issues, where intake valves could fracture and cause engine failure. The F-150 has also been subject to recalls for issues like rearview camera software defects and potential transmission problems that can cause unexpected downshifts. Rear shock absorber external reservoir corrosion was also a problem associated with these models. Meanwhile, the 2025 Ranger reported missing or loose driver's seat bolts. Buying a used car? Legendary carmaker is launching new range of cheapest ever EVs boasting enough energy to ‘power a house for 6 DAYS'

PLUGGED IN Legendary carmaker is launching new range of cheapest ever EVs boasting enough energy to 'power a house for 6 DAYS' A LEGENDARY carmaker is launching a new range of its cheapest ever EVs. The cars are being created using a "revolutionary" process following a three-year project. 1 Ford's new EVs will be built at the company's Louisville plant in the US but are expected to be offered globally This scheme allows the cars to boast enough energy to "power a house for six days", according to the boss of the company. Ford is releasing the Universal EV Platform for a mid-size, double-cab pick-up truck that will be on sale in 2027, priced at $30,000 (£22,000). While the new EVs will be built at Ford's Louisville plant in the US, the vehicles are expected to be offered globally. It comes after the recent signing of trade deals between the US and the UK. The UK Government has also revealed a £650 million grant could knock up to £3,750 off the price of low-priced EVs. Ford CEO Jim Farley said more models using the process will follow, as first reported by Autocar. These will reportedly include a hatchback, crossover, van and a three-bench SUV. These are likely to start at around the same price. The new range is also being used to boost sales in the US market, and is likely to be seen as an endorsement of Donald Trump's policy to focus on domestic manufacturing to boost the US economy. Iconic British car brand to begin 'new era' with 'urban SUV' to be launched next year Farley said the process uses battery cells made at Ford's new Blue Oval Battery Park in Michigan. He said there were "no guarantees" with the project, and added: 'It is a bet. There is risk. I cannot 100% say this will work. There is an automotive graveyard full of projects that have not worked.' In his statement, Farley highlighted the fact that Ford will create its new EVs in the US. He said competitors "build their vehicles in Asia and import them from abroad. This is not what we are doing. We took on the challenge that others have stopped doing. 'This project is bigger than Ford motor cars. It is about our country."
