Russian attacks kill two in east Ukraine, 33 hurt in Kharkiv

Ammon News - Two people were killed in a Russian strike on eastern Ukraine on Thursday and at least 33 were wounded when Russian glide bombs struck a residential neighbourhood in the northeastern city of Kharkiv, regional officials said. The Donetsk regional prosecutor's office in eastern Ukraine said the two deaths were in the city of Kostiantynivka, where 12 people were also wounded. In Kharkiv, regional governor Oleh Syniehubov said a 10-year-old child and a month-old infant were among those hurt when Ukraine's second-largest city was hit by two glide bombs - air-launched munitions fitted with wings and satellite-aided navigation to extend their range and precision. "These are utterly senseless strikes with no military purpose whatsoever," President Volodymyr Zelenskiy wrote on X. Thick black smoke billowed above the northern district of Kharkiv where a local business and an apartment bloc were damaged. Stunned residents fled, with some clutching children and flames engulfing parked cars. "I looked around and everything was smashed," said Yevhen Hanushchak, holding a crate with his cat outside a damaged apartment building. "Tons of smoke, people running and screaming, grabbing their things." Russia, which denies targeting civilians, has stepped up airstrikes on Ukrainian towns and cities since talks aimed at securing a ceasefire in its nearly 3-1/2 year-old-war in Ukraine stalled this year. Glide bombs have been particularly devastating in areas closer to the battlefield. The regional prosecutors said Thursday's attack was launched nearly 100 km (62 miles) away. Reuters

8 Palestinian civilians killed, dozens wounded in Israeli strikes across central Gaza

Ammon News - At least eight Palestinian civilians, including a child and infant, were killed and others wounded early Thursday morning in a new series of Israeli airstrikes and bombardment in the central Gaza Strip, according to medical sources. Three people, among them a child and an infant, were killed when the Israeli fighter jets struck a residential home in the Al-Ahly Club area of Nuseirat. Another citizen was killed in a separate strike in al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. Furthermore. Israeli warplanes conducted an airstrike on a tent housing displaced families in the Al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City, killing three people and wounding others. In Deir al-Balah, three more people were killed and dozens were wounded when Israeli artillery shelled a group of civilians near al-Qastal Towers in the eastern part of the city. A woman also killed in a helicopter strike on the al-Ghoul family home in Block 3 of al-Bureij refugee camp. In the southern Gaza Strip, two Palestinians were killed and others were wounded when the Israeli occupation bombed tents for displaced persons in the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis. The latest airstrikes come just a day after 54 Palestinians, including children, were killed in Israeli gunfire and shelling across the Gaza Strip. Israel, the occupying power, has been waging a genocidal war in Gaza, including mass killing, starvation, deliberate destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it. Since October 7, 2023, over 202,000 Palestinians have been killed and wounded, the majority of whom are women and children. More than 9,000 remain missing, hundreds of thousands have been displaced, and widespread famine has claimed many lives. WAFA
