Xfinity rolls out new internet plans with a free mobile line included

Phone Arena6 hours ago

Comcast's Xfinity has announced that it is introducing a new set of internet plans across the country, with a focus on simple pricing and fewer surprises. The plans now come with unlimited data, a WiFi gateway, and one year of free Xfinity Mobile service included. This new setup follows the launch of Xfinity's 5-year price guarantee earlier this year. Customers now have the option to choose from either a 1-year or 5-year price lock, with no contracts or hidden fees. According to Comcast, this approach is meant to offer more straightforward choices and added value.
— Steve Croney, Chief Operating Officer for Connectivity & Platforms at Comcast.
Here is the new pricing breakdown with the 1 and 5 year options:
300 Mbps: $40/month (1-year), $55/month (5-year), $70 everyday price
500 Mbps: $55/month (1-year), $70/month (5-year), $85 everyday price
1 Gbps: $70/month (1-year), $85/month (5-year), $100 everyday price
2 Gbps: $100/month (1-year), $115/month (5-year), $130 everyday price
Each plan includes the Xfinity WiFi Gateway, which supports fast internet speeds, lower lag for gaming and streaming, and reliable coverage throughout the home. The gateway also features built-in cybersecurity tools and parental controls, all manageable through the updated Xfinity app.
Another key feature is the inclusion of one unlimited line of Xfinity Mobile at no extra charge for the first year, with no fees or taxex. The offer includes access to WiFi PowerBoost, which can raise Xfinity Mobile speeds up to 1 Gbps when connected to Xfinity WiFi at home or on the go. Since most mobile data use happens over WiFi, Comcast says this pairing improves the overall experience.
The company also highlights that Xfinity Mobile runs on a combination of nationwide 5G and the Xfinity WiFi network, which it calls the largest and fastest in the country. Customers can sign up for the new plans online at xfinity.com or by visiting a local Xfinity store.
For users who are looking for simpler internet plans with extra benefits like mobile service and built-in hardware, Xfinity's updated pricing could be worth a look. Still, as always, how it compares will depend on local availability and how well the service performs in everyday use. Secure your connection now at a bargain price!

It's about time! Google Clock's latest version rolls out along with Pixel Weather changes

One of the most used native apps on Android just might be the Clock app. Every Android phone has the app and it is often used to set timers and alarms. While it isn't used for long sessions, it is accessed several times a day. Google is in the process of rolling out Google Clock version 7.14. The update continues to make the Timer Starter widget exclusive to Pixel devices (it debuted on the Pixel Tablet before getting added to Pixel phones). The widget is preset with the last three timers you set for your alarm and a "+" button to create a new timer. To place the widget on your Pixel phone long-press on an empty area of screen real estate and on the pop-up that appears, tap on Widgets. Scroll down to Clock and tap on it. Scroll down to Timer Starter. Press on it and a "+Add" button will appear. Tap on the button and the widget will be placed on your Pixel's home screen. You can now start a timer faster with the widget than by using your voice to set one. The Timer Starter widget is available on Pixels only, and the weather condition icons lose color on the Clock app. | Image credit-PhoneArena The Google Clock 7.14 app also uses Material 3 switches in the Alarm tab and the Settings menu list. There is also a minor but noticeable change in the Clock tab. Whether it's your home time zone at the top of the screen or the individual countries you are following, there is a change to the icons showing the current weather conditions. Previously, the weather condition icons were shown in color (for example, the sun would be yellow). Now, all of the current weather condition icons are in gray. They might not stand out as they previously did but on the other hand, they are not as distracting. The Settings menu uses Material 3 in the toggle switches. | Image credit-PhoneArena While the update is rolling out now to those running version 7.14 of the Google Clock app, you can see where you stand by going to Settings > Apps > See all xxx apps > Clock . Scroll down to the very bottom of the page and check the version of the app listed. To reiterate, you want it to be over 7.14. If it is under version 7.14, you can delete the app from your phone and reinstall it from the Play Store with the latest version number by tapping on this link. Threads is stepping out of Instagram's shadow with a new way for users to control what they see

Threads is now giving users more control over the content they see, thanks to a new update to its Hidden Words feature. Announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, this change separates Threads' content filters from those on Instagram, allowing for more personalized settings that don't affect the main app. Hidden Words is a tool that helps users filter out specific words, phrases, or emojis across feeds, replies, profiles, and search results. Until now, Threads relied on the same filters users had set up on Instagram. With the new update, Threads gets its own version of Hidden Words, designed to work independently. The feature has also been improved with a few new options. First, users can now create custom filters in batches. That means it's possible to block several words or emojis all at once, instead of adding them one by one. This can be useful for those who want to manage their feed more efficiently. Second, Threads now lets you set expiration dates for these filters. If there's a topic you only want to avoid for a short time, like spoilers for a show or news event, you can set the filter to disappear after up to 30 days. This way, users can take a break from certain topics without removing the filter manually later on. According to Meta, these updates are part of an ongoing effort to add more user-requested tools to the platform. Many people have asked for more ways to control what appears in their feed without needing to block or mute accounts entirely. Giving Threads its own version of Hidden Words is a step in that direction. The change also reflects how Threads is growing as a standalone platform, rather than just being tied to Instagram. While both apps are still linked through user profiles, Threads is starting to get its own set of features designed to support conversation and discovery. For now, this update helps users filter out unwanted content in a way that feels more flexible and easier to manage. As Threads continues to expand, we expect more platform-specific features like this one to arrive, giving users better control over their experience without needing to adjust settings on Instagram.
