Bad Company's Mick Ralphs dies aged 81
Bad Company was formed in 1973 after the members of the bands Free, Mott The Hoople and King Crimson joined forces.
A statement from singer Rodgers on the website said: 'Our Mick has passed, my heart just hit the ground. He has left us with exceptional songs and memories. He was my friend, my songwriting partner, an amazing and versatile guitarist who had the greatest sense of humour.
'Our last conversation a few days ago we shared a laugh but it won't be our last. There are many memories of Mick that will create laughter. Condolences to everyone who loved him especially his one true love, Susie. I will see you in heaven.'

Drummer Kirke said: 'He was a dear friend, a wonderful songwriter, and an exceptional guitarist. We will miss him deeply.'
Ralphs' final performance with Bad Company was in October 2016, with the musician suffering a stroke the following month.
Free members Rodgers and Kirke had enjoyed success with their 1970s hit song All Right Now.
Ralphs had been part of Mott The Hoople, famed for their 1972 song All The Young Dudes, which was penned by David Bowie.
Vocalist and guitarist Raymond 'Boz' Burrell had been performing as part of rock band King Crimson.
Bad Company are due to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this year.
The group rose to fame in 1974 with their self-titled debut album which included hits such as Can't Get Enough and Movin' On.
The album reached number three in the UK albums chart and went five-times platinum.
Bad Company later released Straight Shooter in 1975, followed by Run With The Pack, and both made it into the top five in the albums chart.
They were also known for rock anthems including Ready For Love, Rock Steady and the title track Bad Company.
Among those paying tribute to the late guitarist was Joe Elliott, lead singer of the hard rock band Def Leppard, who shared a post on the group's X account saying: 'I just heard the news … totally heartbroken … Mick has been a constant companion through my musical journey & he was one of the kindest souls I ever met. The world is a poorer place today.'
David Coverdale, lead singer of Deep Purple and then Whitesnake, said on X: 'Heartbreaking News…Loved Mick …Sweet, Sweet Man & Super Songwriter…My Sincere Condolences To His Family, Friends & Fans.'
In another post, he added: 'Mick Ralphs was the first person I played the original song idea to Love Ain't No Stranger before I played it to the band…he was super encouraging…A total sweetheart.'

Brody receives help from unexpected resident in new Corrie crime story
Earlier this year Coronation Street fans were introduced to Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey). We first saw him at the STC where Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) was in custody. He very quickly made Dylan's life a misery, bullying him and manipulating his dad Sean (Antony Cotton). After his release from the STC we discovered Brody had strong connections to Coronation Street. His parents Mick and Lou Michaelis (Joe Layton and Farrel Hegarty) were busy causing chaos among the neighbours, and a flashback episode revealed that the pair of them had been friends with DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) in their youth. When Kit let Mick take the fall for a crime they committed and Mick went to prison, Kit and Lou had a relationship – the result of which was Brody. Mick and Lou are currently in prison after Mick went on a violent rampage and ended up killing PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith). He's unlikely to be released any time soon as he also managed to break out of prison and came back to the Street in an attempt to go on the run with his family. Lou was sent to prison for assaulting Gary Windass (Mikey North). As soon as Brody's feet hit the cobbles he was up to criminal business, including shoplifting from the corner shop. Crime is really all he's known growing up with Mick and Lou. At heart, we've seen that Brody isn't a bad person. He genuinely wants the best for his sisters and to take care of them, and in his conversations with Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) especially there are signs that he could be ready to change his life around. Kit has tried to get to know him, though his attempts have been a bit ham-fisted, like when he and Sarah (Tina O'Brien) took Brody to Speed Daal for the world's most cringeworthy bonding session. Tim (Joe Duttine) and Sally (Sally Dynevor) have also offered Brody as much support as they can, as they continue to look after his sisters. And Bernie would like nothing more than a close relationship with her grandson. Father Ted creator Graham Linehan has accused JK Rowling of failing to defend him after he was cancelled over his gender critical views. The Irishman, 57, told how he backed the author's views on SNP 's Gender Recognition Reform Bill, which she previously dubbed 'the biggest assault on the rights of Scottish women and girls' in her lifetime. But now, he claims she failed to defend his right to free speech when he received backlash over his comments regarding trans people, saying Rowling's 'silence' made him feel 'toxic' and isolated. Speaking with the Spiked Podcast, the creator of Father Ted and The IT Crowd said the Harry Potter writer had 'never mentioned' him nor spoken in his defence. Recalling when Rowling became embroiled in the row over SNP's self identification reforms, he said he felt as though he could 'finally relax' and 'fight back' as someone was on his side. 'And now her silence about me is just added to the feeling that, that I've done something wrong, that I'm toxic and I know I am toxic, but it's not because I've done anything wrong,' he said. 'It's because people, people like JK Rowling won't stand up in defence of me. So it wasn't just the [trans rights activist] side pushing me out. 'It was a feeling of lack of solidarity and the kind of an embarrassment at my presence in the fight.' It comes after Rowling was vocal in her critics of SNPs reforms on gender self-identification which aimed to make the process for trans people to obtain legal gender recognition easier. Former Scottish First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon revealed in her new memoir that she experienced an influx of 'vile abuse' after the author posted a snap of herself in a t-shirt, which read: 'Nicola Sturgeon, destroyer of women's rights.' The ex-SNP politician alleged the incident made her feel at an increased risk of physical harm. Rowling claimed Sturgeon brazenly denied the reality of her views over transgenderism. In 2023, an Edinburgh comedy show which starred Linehan was cancelled due to complaints, as well as the venue, Leith Arches, saying the comedian's views didn't align with their 'overall values'. In September, the 57-year-old is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court after pleading not guilty to criminal damage as well as harassment against transgender activist, Sophie Brooks. He has denied both charges, which include, harassing the 18-year-old on social media last October, as well as damaging her phone in a 'Battle of Ideas' conference in London, where he was a speaker, in the same month. The case is set to go to trial on September 4, of this year. Following the court hearing in May, he claimed to have experienced abuse and threats after spending six years defending 'the rights of women and children'.

The Rainmaker – Season 1 Episode 1 'Another Rainy Day' Recap & Review
Another Rainy Day Episode 1 of The Rainmaker starts with a man waking up to find that his house is on fire. He tries to call out to his mother, who has already died in the fire, and he manages to escape before it burns down completely. The episode then moves to introduce Rudy Baylor at a free legal clinic, along with other aspiring lawyers from his class. Rudy and his girlfriend, Sarah, offer free legal advice to people in need of help. Their latest client is a woman called Mrs Black, who discusses the death of her son, who was admitted to the North City Hospital. He initially had a minor flu and the hospital tried to settle the matter by offering her 50,000 USD for her son's life. Sarah tells Mrs Black that she and Rudy aren't able to help her because they're both going to start working with the law firm that North City Hospital had hired to resolve the case. Mrs Black needs the support of an actual experienced lawyer. That night, Rudy works his last shift as a bartender before leaving for work at Tinley Brit Corporate. Rudy's mother complains to him about her husband, which infuriates him. He confronts his stepfather, Hank, which leads to the two men having a fist fight. To put an end to the fighting, his mother asks Rudy to move out of the house. Rudy claims that he was looking for a place to move to anyway and leaves for work. Sarah saves a spot for Rudy, who is late on the first day. When Rudy shows, he is picked on by the firm's managing partner, Leo Drummond. Leo calls Rudy out for being late, and the two end up discussing how victims of domestic violence are not treated equally by the law. Leo challenges Rudy, which leads him to bring up examples of multiple cases regarding domestic abuse of women. Rudy presents his arguments with statistics, but Leo wants Sarah to challenge him. Leo praises Sarah for her rebuttal, but Rudy stumps Leo by quoting one of his lines. After the meeting, Sarah learns about Rudy's fight with Hank and reminds him about learning to back away from unnecessary fights. Rudy is fired from the firm and goes back to working at the bar. He starts looking for more places to work, while his old boss recommends Rudy try working for Jocelyn 'Bruiser' Stone. There, Rudy meets the other lawyer working for Jocelyn, Deck Shifflet. With no other options, Rudy agrees to start working for Jocelyn for $5000 a month. Meanwhile, Sarah makes an impression on a high-priority client who asks her to be put on his account. Leo is impressed with Sarah and tries to figure out what kind of lawyer she will be. That night, Sarah helps Rudy move into his new apartment. Rudy doesn't want to move in with her, and some of that stems from how different his life is from Sarah's, who still lives off her parents' trust fund. The next morning, Deck shows Rudy the ropes as they try to secure a client for themselves. They go to the North City hospital to find potential clients who might need lawyers to help them. Meanwhile, Sarah tries to talk to Leo about Rudy, asking him to consider giving the guy another chance. Leo puts Sarah in her place, telling her that she has no business telling her what to do. On the other hand, Rudy manages to convince a patient from a hit-and-run case to hire him as their lawyer. One of Deck and Bruiser's competitors, Rodd, is also at North City Hospital looking for clients. He finds Melvin Pritcher, the man whose house was burned by the fire that killed his mother. Rodd convinces Melvin to sign him on as a lawyer. At the same time, Rudy decides that he cannot keep waiting for a case and decides to meet Mrs Black. Rudy tells Mrs Black that he is no longer working for Tinley Brit and she doesn't have to pay him unless she wins the trial. After some convincing, Rudy manages to get on the case. That night, Sarah learns that Rudy is working on Mrs Black's case and gets upset with him. She reveals that Leo had put her on the case and reminds him that they will be against each other in court. Sarah wants Rudy to drop the case, but he refuses to do so. The next morning, Mrs Black's dog finds something in her yard that makes her suspicious that she is being followed. Meanwhile, a woman and a man follow after Rudy and Deck. Rudy and Deck meet Rodd outside the courthouse and tell him that Melvin was the nurse at North City hospital on the night of Mrs Black's son's death. Rudy and Deck present the case to Jocelyn, who finds loopholes in the case. She points out that Mrs Black's son is actually an opioid addict, but Rudy claims that the opposition are willing to settle the case out of court, which means that there's something amiss. Jocelyn permits Rudy to go ahead with the investigation, but makes him promise to keep going until he gets to the truth. Melvin tries to break into an empty house, when a woman stops him. Melvin injects her with something, causing her to pass out, bringing the episode to a tenuous ending. The Episode Review The Rainmaker gets off to an interesting start, with a lot of similarities to shows like Suits or White Collar. The set-up is quite similar, but I love how the firm that Rudy starts working with is not some big conglomerate, but a small law firm. I cannot help but notice how Milo Callaghan, playing Rudy Baylor, looks like a mix of a young Matt Damon and Brad Pitt. Coincidentally, Matt Damon played Rudy Baylor in the 1997 film based on the John Grisham novel that this show is based on. This casting choice may have been intentional, but a treat to the eye nonetheless! The characters in this show certainly have depth, and with a familiar format of 1 episode releasing each week, we will have to wait to see how this one progresses. So far so good, though!
