Shereen Reda to Star in TV Series "Al Nasab" at Netflix

Egyptian actress Shereen Reda has signed on to star in the upcoming Netflix TV series "Al Nasab" (The Con) from Essam Abdel Hamid.
The series also stars Ali Kakouli, Fay Fouad, and more.
An exact release date has yet to be announced.
Reda was last seen in the Netflix TV series "Mawid Maa Elmady" (Echoes of The Past).
The cast also includes Asser Yassin, Mahmoud Hamida, Saba Mubarak, Rakeen Saad, Huda El Mufti, Sherif Salama, Mohamed Alaa, Mohamed Tharwat, Tamer Nabil, and more.
Produced by Charisma Group with executive producer Mohammad Mashish, the adaptation hails from scriptwriter Mohamed Al Masry and director Al Sadeer Massoud.
"Mawid Maa Elmady" consists of 8 episodes and is based on the Mexican thriller series "Quién mató a Sara?" (Who Killed Sara? in English).
The show ran for three seasons from March 2021 to May 2022 and follows Manolo Cardona as Álex, who was framed for the murder of his sister Sara.
Now he's out of prison he's on the hunt for revenge, as he tries to uncover the mystery of what happened.
'Mawid Maa Elmady' delves deep into the emotional and psychological turmoil of Yehia, whose life was torn apart by the murder of his sister, Nadia.
"After being wrongly convicted of her death and facing 15 years behind bars, Yahia's release is followed by a burning desire for revenge, where he will stop at nothing to find Nadia's real killer. His return sees old family wounds reopened, long-buried secrets come to life, and the reality that the truth never stays hidden forever," according to the official synopsis.

Kate Winslet Exits Hulu Series "The Spot"
Yara Sameh Oscar and Emmy winner Kate Winslet is no longer involved in Hulu drama series "The Spot". Winslet was attached as star and executive producer to the project, from creator/executive producer Ed Solomon and A24. The show, in a very competitive situation, landed at Hulu last August with a straight-to-series order. According to sources, the reasons behind her exit from the project are creative and related, at least in part, to how the show's evolution has impacted the required approach to the role. Conversations are underway with other A-list actresses, and production is still targeting a 2026 start once the role is recast. Created and written by Solomon, who will serve as showrunner, "The Spot" follows a successful surgeon — the role that is now being recast — and her school teacher husband who suspects she might be responsible for a child's hit-and-run death. While looking into the matter, dark secrets are revealed that will test their relationship as they confront the possibility of hidden guilt and betrayal. Egyptian film Aisha Can't Fly Away to hold its African premiere in Durban Film Fest - Screens - Arts & Culture
The Egyptian film Aisha Can't Fly Away is set to screen at the upcoming Durban International Film Festival in South Africa, taking place from 17 to 27 July 2025. The screening will mark the film's African premiere. Directed by Morad Mostafa, the film had its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section at the 78th Cannes Film Festival (13–24 May). Aisha Can't Fly Away tells the story of Aisha, a 26-year-old Somali woman living and working in Ain Shams, a working-class neighbourhood in eastern Cairo that has become home to many African refugees in recent years. The film was written by Mostafa, Mohammad Abdulqader, and Sawsan Yusuf and stars Buliana Simona, Emad Ghoneim, Mamdouh Salah, and Egyptian rapper Ziad Zaza. During its production phase, Aisha Can't Fly Away, and another Egyptian film, garnered the majority of prizes awarded by the Venice Film Festival's Final Cut 2024. The jury at Venice's Final Cut described the film as 'a powerful and authentic story filled with the environment's challenges and complexities.' 'Despite being Mostafa's first feature film, it showcased confident direction and a distinct cinematic voice. The film's gritty realism, attention to detail, and impactful storytelling left a strong impression on us,' the jury added. The film also received awards from Titra Film (Paris), Rai Cinema (Italy), the Cinémathèque Afrique of the Institut Français (Paris), and the Festival International du Films de Fribourg (Switzerland).
