As per details provided by Samrala deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Mohit Kumar Singla, Parminder was facing trial in at least 17 cases, including drug peddling, liquor smuggling and assault.
The DSP said that during investigation, it was found that the accused had invested the drug money to purchase a property. According to the official, a report was sent to the respective authorities and freezing orders under Section 68-F (2) were issued by the competent authority.

They are under treatment at the Phase 6 civil hospital. The families of the deceased were in an inconsolable state and staged a nearly two-hour protest at the site, demanding a thorough probe and compensation. Asif's father, Akbar Ali, who works at the same unit, said, 'We have been working here for a long time. Nothing like this has happened before. I don't know whose fault it is but they must be held accountable. I have lost my son. This pain is unbearable.' Devinder's brother Pawan said, 'My brother had been working here for two-and-a-half years. This morning, he had stayed back after his shift for an extra ₹200. His body has been so badly mutilated that we have only found his head.' Deputy superintendent of police, City -2, Harsimran Bal said the factory supervisors have been booked under Section 106 (death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Phase 11 police station. Mohali senior superintendent of police (SSP) Harmandeep Hans, who oversaw the rescue operations, said, 'The unit supplied nitrogen and oxygen cylinders to various firms and hospitals. Around 9 am today, two men were loading cylinders onto a truck when one exploded. The two workers died on the spot. We are investigating all possible causes, including human error. It is too early to comment on the exact reason.' Deputy commissioner Komal Mittal said the administration had taken cognisance of the incident. 'A police inquiry has been marked to DSP City II, Mohali, and he has been asked to submit a report within a week. While the exact cause cannot be confirmed as of now, preliminary investigations suggest that the cylinder may have suffered an impact during loading, triggering the blast,' she said.

Police here have arrested a man who fled with ₹13.65 lakh in cash and an SUV belonging to his employer, a Delhi-based coal trader, officials said on Wednesday. Circle Officer Ramashish Yadav said a case was registered under Section 316 (criminal breach of trust) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on Jain's complaint. A search operation was launched immediately and CCTV footage helped police trace the accused, who was arrested near the Sufeda Road underpass in Khatauli. The stolen money and the SUV were recovered from the accused, the officer said.

Molestation allegation sparks mob attack on bus in Tripura, 4 injured; CM Manik Saha appeals for peace
The Tripura police launched a probe after a mob attacked a bus in the Sepahijala district Tuesday evening after a passenger allegedly molested a woman co-passenger inside the bus. One special police officer (SPO) and three passengers were injured in the attack, and the police filed a case at the local police station. The police said the mob attacked the passenger bus as soon as it reached a bus stand, and police personnel rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. All the injured were taken to a local hospital. 'A case was registered late at night. The police have started an investigation into the matter', said an on-duty police officer from the police headquarters. Meanwhile, the government imposed a prohibitory order in the region under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) shortly after the attack. Chief Minister Manik Saha said he got in touch with the woman and her mother and assured them all support. He also said he had instructed the director general of police (DGP) to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Speaking to reporters, he said, 'We are all part of society. There are the police, police stations and the legal system. Such incidents can happen at any time. What is required is to see if any action was taken after the incident. Many attempts are being made to give it a separate colour. I will tell them to refrain from doing so. The police have done their job. They reached the spot soon after the incident,' he said, adding that the alleged molestation and the mob attack were both wrong. 'I appeal for peace, and let me say one thing: violence never solves problems, it only divides people,' he added. SPOs are people appointed on an honorarium basis to assist regular police forces. SPOs were initially inducted to assist the police force in combating insurgency. Currently, they are deployed to maintain law and order.
