At the UFC Baku post-fight presser, Dana White confirmed that Jon Jones was finally hanging up his gloves after an illustrious career. This announcement came amid the long wait for Jones to unify the heavyweight title against Tom Aspinall, who held the interim gold since UFC 295.
However, 'Bones' didn't see the merit in fighting a young and hungry Englishman and announced his retirement a day after the UFC head honcho made it official.
However, it seems that Jones is once again eager to come back and resume his hunt to be the best. This change of heart has arisen due to
Donald Trump
's announcement of the UFC holding a card on the lawns of the White House on America's 250th birthday in 2026. Moreover, even White confirmed that the event will go down on 4th July next year.

Just 13 days after announcing his retirement, Jones declared that he has re-entered the drug testing pool to appear on the historic card. And in a conversation with TMZ earlier this week, 'Bones' reaffirmed his intention of fighting for the pride of America.
'That's the goal. We haven't had a conversation about it, but I have a very strong feeling that I'll be fighting that night, for sure.' This isn't the first time this week that the former heavyweight champion has expressed his intention to return to the Octagon.

Jon Jones Confident He'll Fight At Trump's White House UFC Event, 'Strong Feeling' | TMZ Sports
In a conversation with Joy of Everything's Joe Andaloro, Jones said that he would be ready to take on the reigning heavyweight king by the time the UFC White House card rolls around. He even teased a showdown with Aspinall if he held the strap at the time of the event.
And finally, Jones once again doubled down on returning at the ESPY's red carpet event. However, it seems that the UFC President is not keen on watching his crown jewel return to the cage.
Dana White Is Not on Board for Jon Jones to Return to the UFC White House Event
UFC 318 proved to be the final fight of Dustin Poirier's career. However, the post-fight presser saw the conversation shift to Jones fighting at UFC White House, slated to take place on 4th July 2026. When asked about the prospect of the former heavyweight champion appearing on the card, White said something surprising.
'It's not even about him winning the belt. You know how I felt about him. You know I can't risk putting him in big positions in a big spot and have something go wrong – especially the White House card."
This hesitancy stems from the fact that Jones was responsible for ruining perhaps the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history when he didn't fight Aspinall. Moreover, he has a history of pulling out of major cards like the UFC 200 showdown with Daniel Cormier just days before the event. White is currently focused on discussing the logistics and arrangements for the card rather than the actual fights on it.

3 held for stoking communal hatred

Lucknow: With the arrest of three people, Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday claimed to have foiled an alleged Pakistan-linked digital conspiracy to incite communal riots and possible terror attacks during the Kanwar Yatra in western UP. The miscreants were arrested for allegedly circulating morphed and inflammatory videos and audios designed to provoke communal hatred, police said. Police confirmed the footage was from Muzaffargarh in Pakistan and was related to an incident involving the murder of a woman and her seven children by her husband in April last year. The conspirators misrepresented this incident to spark communal violence. A special police team arrested Mohammed Nadeem (25), Mansher (45), and Rahees alias Furkan (35) from Kakrauli. Three mobile phones used for spreading the content were seized, and a case under relevant BNS sections and the UAPA Act has been registered. Investigations are underway to identify other collaborators, with possible links to radical outfits and Pakistani agencies, said police officers in the DGP headquarters. "The digital diagnostics revealed that the morphed message originated from Pakistan," said Bhanu Bhaskar, additional DG, Meerut zone. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Nikoo Homes: Luxury Starts @ ₹1.2 Cr* Nikoo Homes Sadahalli Learn More Undo Given Muzaffarnagar's sensitive law-and-order environment, the security was intensified with the deployment of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Rapid Action Force and rigorous social media monitoring. The police identified a WhatsApp group, 'Kakrauli Yuva Ekta', where fake videos and audios were being circulated to inflame tensions. "This was not just an attempt to spread communal hatred but a premeditated plan to provoke riots and possibly orchestrate a lone-wolf terror attack," said a senior officer. On the directions of DGP Rajeev Krishna, the police are continuously monitoring social media, said Bhanu Bhaskar.

Chorao wants old ferries in addition to Ro-Ro vessels

The Chorao panchayat has asked the river navigation department (RND) to deploy two traditional ferries on the Ribandar-Chorao route during peak hours, alleging traffic chaos and delays due to the Ro-Ro vessels. Responding to the demand, RND minister Subhash Phal Dessai said that if locals officially oppose the Ro-Ro, govt is willing to replace it with the older six ferries, noting that no loss would be incurred as the Ro-Ro vessels are not govt-owned. 'If the people, sarpanch and MLA give us a representation saying that the Ro-Ro vessels cannot handle the load and they are not better than the earlier services, we can remove them from the route,' he said. Phal Dessai said that footfall on this route has increased by 30% since the launch and problems are arising as two-wheeler riders are crowding the ramp. The minister said that videos of the loose seats and dirty toilet onboard the Ro-Ro are being circulated to 'defame' the RND. 'Am I supposed to clean the toilet after every person entering? The toilets are for emergency use only. Also, bending the seats to show they are loose is an effort to malign us.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like My 4-year-old kidneys are failing, only you can help Donate For Health Donate Now Undo 'As much as we admire the benefits of Ro-Ros, these vessels are not enough during peak hours. The Ro-Ros operate from 7am to 9pm, so we have asked the RND to provide two traditional ferries from 7am to 9am and again in the afternoon and evening,' sarpanch Ramakant Priolkar told TOI . The panchayat's request comes after locals endured congestion during peak hours at the Chorao berth since the Ro-Ro service began last week. 'Teething issues are bound to happen in the initial few weeks; however, we anticipated that the RND may have learnt from their mistakes after the failure of the hybrid solar-electric ferry, which was discontinued after a few months,' a Chorao resident said.
