Claressa Shields Shows Love for Papoose After Undisputed Title Defense as Baby Plans for 2026 Unfold

Images via Imagn and Claressa Shields' Instagram: Claressa Shields and Papoose Claressa Shields has always been a powerhouse in the ring. But now, fans are seeing a more personal side of the boxing champ. At the official weigh-in on July 25, 2025, ahead of her undisputed heavyweight title defense against Lani Daniels, Shields surprised everyone by revealing a new tattoo just below her chest that read 'Papoose'—a heartfelt tribute to her partner. The intimate moment quickly went viral, and now, the GWOAT has made her relationship with the American hip-hop artist even more official with a recent social media post. Claressa Shields Credits Papoose for Her Title Defense Against Lani Daniels For those unfamiliar, Shields improved her record to 17-0 after defending her undisputed titles against Lani Daniels at Detroit's Little Caesars Arena. It was a dominant 10-round performance, with judges scoring it 100-90, 99-91, and 99-91 in her favor. After the win, the GWOAT took to Instagram to thank her partner Papoose for his love and support throughout her journey. 'And 😊 To my man @papoose ….. Thank you. You are the epitome of a REAL MAN! How you have added to my life and my happiness, I can't speak about how great you are enough. I've been in the driver seat of my life since 'FOREVER' now you came and took the wheel and let me ride shotgun 🤩🥹 Thank you for being who you are…' She continued, 'Despite all the 'wrong' names that people add to you, you are truly just a Smart, GREAT MAN, Genuine, Loving, Honest & Kind Person. This weekend would [not have] been possible without you! I say that humbly! You helped me make 'one more' of my dreams come true! If it's Us vs Them, we [are going to] always win.' Shields and Papoose have reportedly been together since 2024. Their relationship became public following Papoose's messy separation from his wife, rapper Remy Ma, to whom he is still legally married. Naturally, the reveal sparked plenty of reactions on social media. Claressa Shields Reveals Plans to Start a Family in 2026 Furthermore, Shields has already confirmed that she and Papoose are planning to have a baby in 2026. During her recent appearance on The Pivot Podcast, the undefeated boxing champion opened up about her plans, saying she's ready to embrace motherhood. 'I'm gonna have a baby next year. We already have it planned out.' However, Shields made it clear that starting a family doesn't mean she's stepping away from the ring. 'After I go through my stuff, then I'll come back and fight some more, and then probably have another one and do the same thing again.' The 30-year-old even explained why she's not waiting until retirement to have children. 'I don't want to wait till I'm, you know, 40, 43, whatever, after my career, to have my kids,' she said. 'I want to be able to run at the park with my kids… I don't want to be too old.' Khabib Nurmagomedov Points to Jack Della Maddalena's Size Advantage Over Islam Makhachev Amid UFC Rule Change Push

Images via Imagn: Islam Makhachev, Jack Della Maddalena and Khabib Nurmagomedov With Ilia Topuria winning the UFC's 155-pound crown and Islam Makhachev slated to fight for the welterweight title later this year, the future of the promotion is certainly looking bright. However, many fans were dismayed at the fact that they didn't get to see the two best fighters in the promotion settle their feud inside the Octagon. Moreover, experts even cited that the Dagestani would make easy work of fighters at 170lbs, which included the reigning champion, Jack Della Maddalena. However, UFC Hall of Famer and Makhachev's mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, has other thoughts. Khabib Nurmagomedov Believes Jack Della Maddalena to Be the Toughest Challenge of Islam Makhachev's Career In a recent interview with Adam Zubayraev on the Hustle Show, Nurmagomedov said that JDM would be a much tougher opponent for Makhachev than Topuria. 'I think Maddalena is the toughest opponent in Islam's career. That's my opinion, not Charles, no one else. None of those other fighters. Not even Ilia, if that fight were to happen. That's just my personal opinion.' The Hall of Famer cited JDM's size and strength as the reason for his analysis and added, 'First of all, Maddalena is twice the size of Ilia. Taller, bigger, stronger legs, bigger frame. His boxing is just as good. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 20 Things You Should Stop Wearing After 40 Undo And, in grappling, he scrambles really well if you've watched him. For me, if I was preparing Islam for either Ilia or Maddalena, I'd be more concerned about Maddalena (than Ilia).' With Dana White announcing the headliners for UFC 320 and UFC 321, it is possible that JDM and Makhachev would slug it out for the 170-pound gold at UFC 322 in November at Madison Square Garden. Khabib Nurmagomedov Suggests a Big Change in the Current UFC Fight Rule Book The UFC's standard rules in 2025 still follow the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts, first introduced back in 2001. These rules were brought in to help legitimize the sport, moving it away from its early reputation as "human cockfighting" during the late 1990s. With the new framework came time limits, judges, weight classes, and the 10-point must scoring system, all aimed at making MMA more professional and mainstream. However, Khabib Nurmagomedov is now suggesting some major changes to these long-standing rules. He now mentors top talents like Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov, guiding them toward championship success. With his wealth of experience, Khabib believes it's time for a rule overhaul. In the same interview with Zubayraev, Khabib shared a bold idea: 'I'd change the rules. Like, you step into the Octagon – regular fights are 15 minutes, title fights are 25, right? I'd say no rounds. No rounds at all. I always wondered – what's the point of rounds? What's the point of it all? It's for entertainment, they pause for ads and all of that.' The UFC Hall of Famer believes the current round-based format prioritizes business and television over the purity of sport. He argued that eliminating rounds would make fights more authentic and less driven by commercial breaks. 'I get it – it's for business. But if we're talking sport, I'd get rid of rounds, no rounds at all. They just step in – that's it. There should be rules, no strikes to the back of the head, no groin strikes, that sort of thing, yeah, but I'd still get rid of rounds.' Jon Jones Doubles Down on Intentions to Fight on Historic UFC White House Card

Images via Imagn: Donald Trump and Jon Jones At the UFC Baku post-fight presser, Dana White confirmed that Jon Jones was finally hanging up his gloves after an illustrious career. This announcement came amid the long wait for Jones to unify the heavyweight title against Tom Aspinall, who held the interim gold since UFC 295. However, 'Bones' didn't see the merit in fighting a young and hungry Englishman and announced his retirement a day after the UFC head honcho made it official. However, it seems that Jones is once again eager to come back and resume his hunt to be the best. This change of heart has arisen due to Donald Trump 's announcement of the UFC holding a card on the lawns of the White House on America's 250th birthday in 2026. Moreover, even White confirmed that the event will go down on 4th July next year. Jon Jones Is Confident of Main Eventing the UFC White House Card Next Year Just 13 days after announcing his retirement, Jones declared that he has re-entered the drug testing pool to appear on the historic card. And in a conversation with TMZ earlier this week, 'Bones' reaffirmed his intention of fighting for the pride of America. 'That's the goal. We haven't had a conversation about it, but I have a very strong feeling that I'll be fighting that night, for sure.' This isn't the first time this week that the former heavyweight champion has expressed his intention to return to the Octagon. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Many Are Watching Tariffs - Few Are Watching What Nvidia Just Launched Seeking Alpha Read More Undo Jon Jones Confident He'll Fight At Trump's White House UFC Event, 'Strong Feeling' | TMZ Sports In a conversation with Joy of Everything's Joe Andaloro, Jones said that he would be ready to take on the reigning heavyweight king by the time the UFC White House card rolls around. He even teased a showdown with Aspinall if he held the strap at the time of the event. And finally, Jones once again doubled down on returning at the ESPY's red carpet event. However, it seems that the UFC President is not keen on watching his crown jewel return to the cage. Dana White Is Not on Board for Jon Jones to Return to the UFC White House Event UFC 318 proved to be the final fight of Dustin Poirier's career. However, the post-fight presser saw the conversation shift to Jones fighting at UFC White House, slated to take place on 4th July 2026. When asked about the prospect of the former heavyweight champion appearing on the card, White said something surprising. 'It's not even about him winning the belt. You know how I felt about him. You know I can't risk putting him in big positions in a big spot and have something go wrong – especially the White House card." This hesitancy stems from the fact that Jones was responsible for ruining perhaps the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history when he didn't fight Aspinall. Moreover, he has a history of pulling out of major cards like the UFC 200 showdown with Daniel Cormier just days before the event. White is currently focused on discussing the logistics and arrangements for the card rather than the actual fights on it. UFC 318 Main Match Card Highlights and Results: Max Holloway vs. Dustin Poirier, Paulo Costa vs. Roman Kopylov and More

Image via Imagn: Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier at UFC 318 UFC 318 marked the end of an era as Dustin Poirier said goodbye to MMA. In his own words: 'Paid in full, earned in blood.' The New Orleans supercard delivered 14 action-packed fights, 6 ended in finishes, while 8 went the distance. Here's a quick look at the main card highlights. 1- Max Holloway vs. Dustin Poirier BMF title fight Holloway dropped Poirier twice in Round 1 with high-volume signature strikes, but Poirier recovered quickly. In Round 2, Holloway stayed aggressive, landing clean combos that sent Poirier to the mat again. Poirier fought back, cutting Holloway under the eye and attempting a late guillotine. Jump the Gilly silly! Round 3 saw an accidental scratch near Poirier's left eye, but he chose to continue. Poirier picked up the pace in Round 4, but Holloway remained composed, landing cleaner shots. In the final round, Holloway's volume clashed with Poirier's power. After a brief eye poke, they brawled in the final seconds. Holloway landed big shots, rocking Poirier just before the bell. Poirier survived to hear it, closing out an epic, emotional retirement fight. The post-fight interview featured an emotional tribute video to one of the greatest non-undisputed champions in UFC history. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo 2- Paulo Costa vs. Roman Kopylov Originally scheduled for UFC 317, the bout was rescheduled for UFC 318 after Costa fell ill. In Round 1, Costa came out aggressively, outlanding Kopylov 41-11 in significant strikes and leaving him bloodied. He maintained control in Round 2, mixing up his attacks while Kopylov remained hesitant. In Round 3, Kopylov landed a solid shot, but Costa absorbed it and stayed composed. The fight went the distance, with Costa winning by unanimous decision. Post-fight, the Brazilian called Khamzat Chimaev a coward. 3- Daniel Rodriguez vs. Kevin Holland Both fighters landed the same significant strikes in Round 1 with 32. Holland suffered a cut under his left eye. In Round 2, Rodriguez dropped Holland with a stiff jab and controlled him on the ground, despite his corner urging him to stand up. Though Rodriguez showed some fatigue, he edged the round. Round 3 saw Holland rally with heavy shots, but Rodriguez recovered, mounted him, and finished strong. Rodriguez won by unanimous decision. This was his third straight win in a bout worthy of 'Fight of the Night.' 4- Patricio Pitbull vs. Dan Ige Patricio Pitbull dominated the first two rounds, leaving Dan Ige bloodied by Round 2. In Round 3, Ige landed a strong knee that briefly rattled Pitbull, but the veteran recovered quickly and regained control. Pitbull secured a unanimous decision victory, marking his first win in the UFC after losing his debut against Yair Rodriguez in Miami. 5- Michael Johnson vs. Daniel Zellhuber The lightweight veteran opened the main card with a point to prove, and he did just that. Michael Johnson outworked the younger Daniel Zellhuber to earn a unanimous decision win. Speaking to Daniel Cormier afterward, Johnson said he served Zellhuber some 'humble pie.' This marks Johnson's third straight victory, with two coming by unanimous decision.
