Accuser drops rape lawsuit against Jay-Z and Sean ‘Diddy' Combs
A woman who accused Jay-Z and Sean 'Diddy' Combs of raping her in 2000 has dismissed her lawsuit against both rap stars.
Documents filed by the lawyer representing the anonymous woman said she had voluntarily dismissed the civil case with prejudice, which means she cannot bring it again.
Tony Buzbee filed the documents at a federal court in New York on Friday.
The woman, referred to in the filing as Jane Doe, had initially accused Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, and Sean Combs of raping her at a party in New York.
She claimed the alleged incident took place after the 2000 MTV Music Video Awards when she was 13.
She said the alleged incident had led to depression as well as post-traumatic stress disorder as she became 'largely withdrawn from society.'
Jane Doe also did an interview in December after which questions were raised about her credibility.
At the time she admitted: 'I have made some mistakes. I may have made a mistake in identifying.'
Jay-Z, 55, who strenuously denied her claims, hailed Friday's dismissal news as a 'victory'.
'Today is a victory,' Carter wrote online in a statement released by Roc Nation, the entertainment company he founded.
'The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere,' he added.
'The fictional tale they created was laughable if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone.
'The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones, and I have endured can never be dismissed,' he said.
Previously, Jay-Z, husband of pop star Beyoncé, 43, and father to Blue Ivy, 13, and seven-year-old twins Rumi and Sir, called the lawsuit part of a 'blackmail attempt' by the plaintiff's lawyer.
Meanwhile, Sean Combs, 54, remains in jail in Brooklyn as he awaits a May 5 criminal trial for sex trafficking charges and racketeering.
Mr Combs had pleaded not guilty in the criminal case and has maintained his innocence in all cases against him. His lawyers also issued a statement declaring his innocence on Friday.
'For months, we have seen case after case filed by individuals hiding behind anonymity, pushed forward by an attorney more focused on media headlines than legal merit. Just like this claim, the others will fall apart because there is no truth to them,' the statement says.
The dismissed Jane Doe lawsuit was the only one to name Jay-Z as a defendant.

You don't want to look inside yourself." 2024-2025: Embroiled in Sean 'Diddy' Combs drama In Decemeber 2024 Jay Z and Sean 'Diddy' Combs were accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 at the VMAs afterparty, to which the rapper denied all allegations. The unnamed woman, claimed that she had been handed a glass of something that made her feel 'woozy' and recall lying down in a bedroom, in which she got raped. However, in February this year, the case was dismissed, according to a legal filing submitted in New York. At the time Jay Z denied the accusations via a post on social media, in which he wrote: 'My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a 'lawyer' named Tony Buzbee. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims Jay Z statement What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. I had been giving him all my love and this was him giving me something." But she says the allowance was not enough to furnish her new home after moving in April 2023. "I opened three credit cards and went into debt," she adds. 21:23:19 Jane says Diddy made her apologise to entertainer after storming out of hotel on 'birthday make-up trip' After Jane fought with Combs following her birthday in 2023 that ended in a hotel night, the rapper continued to call and text her. Jane tells jurors she scheduled a trip to Paris for Fashion Week, and it was the first time she had gone on a solo trip in over two years. But a few hours before her flight, Jane says Combs repeatedly texted her and called her phone "like 30 times in a row". After she got back from Paris, she began talking to Combs again, adding "he was adamant we should see each other, and I missed him as well". Jane says Combs told her to visit Miami so they could arrange a "birthday make-up trip" and testifies that they planned the trip to Turks and Caicos. But on the second day of that trip, Paul, an entertainer, arrived at the hotel. "I remember it was really painful and me and Paul tried to have sex but I really couldn't... I was very sore at this point," she tells jurors. She says Combs got "very upset" so she threw a bracelet he had given her against the wall and stormed out of the villa. She explains the note contains what she wanted to tell Combs. "If you don't want me, that's fine I just accept the fact that you are a pathological liar," she wrote in the note. Jane adds that she wrote the note so she could "think out what I was feeling", adding that notes were copied into texts. In a text to Combs, she told him "anything outside of the hotel I am a joke to you... romance is spending time with love and happiness, not someone you call on Friday to get high". 20:38:35 Jane returns to stand Jane is coming back to the stand and jurors are returning to the courtroom. In a voice note, Combs responded by saying "this is the last time you're going to be cursing and disrespecting me". "Be sad, go crazy, do whatever the f*** you want to do... I can do whatever the f*** I want," he said. In a note written to herself in 2022, Jane said "you hurt my feelings every time, you dismiss me, belittle me, you always ask of me, and when I ask of you I am made to feel weird about it".
