Chelsea Green wants a Total Divas comeback, boldly credits show for NXT's women's boom

Time of India11-06-2025
WWE star Chelsea Green is not one to shy away from a hot take, and her latest comments might be her boldest yet. In a recent appearance on the Lightweights podcast, Green didn't just express hope for a Total Divas revival, she claimed the reality show was responsible for the majority of women currently in WWE's NXT division.

'Total Divas is what got 75% of the females in NXT there,' Green said, calling the E! Network series a cultural force that helped introduce women - and families - to professional wrestling. According to her, the show's impact goes far beyond entertainment. 'It attracted those women to wrestling,' she added. 'It brought everyone together.'
While the number might raise eyebrows, especially among fans of indie veterans like Asuka or Rhea Ripley - Green stood firm in her belief that Total Divas was a key driver in building WWE's women's division into what it is today.

The show, which ran for nine seasons from 2013 to 2019, followed the personal and professional lives of WWE's female superstars, including The Bella Twins, Natalya, Paige, Maryse, and others. Though often dismissed as 'reality fluff,' the series undeniably played a role in elevating female wrestlers into mainstream pop culture.
Improvisation in WWE Deserves More Credit
Green also opened up about the behind-the-scenes demands of being a WWE Superstar, specifically the need for improvisation.
Recalling her Statue of Liberty 'inauguration' promo, she revealed that she wrote the entire 10-minute segment herself.
'There's no one to help you if you forget,' she explained. 'The pressure is crazy.' Her larger point? WWE stars don't get enough credit for how much improv work they're constantly doing, not just in matches but in promos and even at ringside.
Her comments subtly challenge the perception that WWE is over-scripted, instead offering insight into how live performance and quick thinking are integral to a wrestler's success.

Zelina Vega vs. Chelsea Green | Women's U.S. Title Match: Saturday Night's Main Event, May 24, 2025
Currently recovering from a broken nose sustained during a match with Zelina Vega, Green hasn't slowed down. She's competing in the ongoing Queen of the Ring tournament and recently pitched a bold match idea: a hair vs. hair bout against WWE legend
at a potential Evolution event.
Meanwhile, Green admitted she's ready to move past her feud with Vega. 'I think they're done with me and Zelina,' she said. 'I don't want them to get bored of that championship.'
With her transparency, creativity, and willingness to break character outside the ring, Chelsea Green is emerging as a unique voice in WWE - one focused not just on personal success, but on how wrestling evolves for fans and performers alike.

John Cena Gives Stunning Verdict On WWE Heel Turn: "Bombed..."

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar John Cena opened up about his much-discussed 'heel turn' and how it did not go according to plan. Cena believes that his promos did not work initially with the fans and that led to the disconnect. The 17-time champion turned heel after attacking Cody Rhodes at WWE Elimination Chamber to leave the fans completely stunned. It was something that the fans have discussed for a long time but the execution over the next few weeks left them disappointed. Cena told an audience member at Fan Expo Chicago 2025 what he believed went wrong. "I wasn't upset. No, I failed," he said. "Ain't nothing wrong with that. You can learn from failure, right? I went up there and bombed. Shit happens." Cena was open to criticism and even said that he took the failure as teaching moments in his WWE career. The superstar announced that this will be his last year with the company and he has faced a number of stalwarts in the course of his retirement tour till now. "I've changed a lot over the years. I'm not the same person I was yesterday," he says. Earlier, Cena kept the fans guessing about his opponent in the final match of his wrestling career. Cena revealed at the start of 2025 that this will be his last year in professional wrestling and he is all set to have his final fight in December last this year. However, there is still no clarity about who he will be facing. He has already faced stalwarts like Cody Rhodes, CM Punk and Randy Orton while his next match will be against Logan Paul at WWE Clash in Paris on August 31. During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, he was once again asked about his potential opponent but the legendary WWE star once again left everyone guessing. "No, no, I've never operated like that," Cena said. "It's weird because I've always just been that guy. ... I've just always kind of been reliable and showing up and doing whatever I'm asked. And I really want this tour to be not only special - it'll always be special to me because you guys are out there - I want it to be special for the business. My goal has always been to leave WWE better than I found it, so whoever they deem appropriate to get that energy, man, I'm cool with that."
