Rosan noted that Singapore was the most significant contributor to FDI growth in the first quarter, with investments worth 4.6 billion U.S. dollars, followed by China's Hong Kong (2.2 billion U.S. dollars), China (1.8 billion U.S. dollars), Malaysia (1.0 billion U.S. dollars), and the United States (1.0 billion U.S. dollars).
He attributed the FDI expansion to increased investments in key sectors, including the basic metal industry, metal goods, machinery and equipment, transportation, telecommunications, warehousing, mining, other services, housing, and industrial and office areas.

Cambodian capital's new airport ready for official operations next month
KANDAL, Cambodia: Techo International Airport (TIA), which is the new airport for Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, is ready for official operations on Sept. 9 after the construction has been 100 per cent completed, a civil aviation chief said on Monday (Aug 11). Mao Havannall, minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, said the TIA will conduct a final test flight of the Airbus 320 aircraft on Friday, Aug. 15. "On Sept. 9 at 7:00 a.m. (local time), we will issue an official document publicly on the operations of the 4F-level Techo International Airport here," he told reporters during a final inspection tour of the airport. However, the TIA's official inauguration ceremony will be held on Oct. 20 under the auspices of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, he said. "At this 4F-level new airport, it can accommodate the landing of giant-scale aircraft such as Airbus A380," he said. Havannall said the TIA is capable of handling up to 13 million passengers a year in the first phase. Work on the airport project began in 2020, with China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) being the contractor. Invested by Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd, the US$1.5-billion airport has been developed on an area of 2,600 hectares in southern Kandal and Takeo provinces, about 20 km from the capital Phnom Penh. The TIA is classified as a 4F-level airport, which is the highest level in the world. Thourn Sinan, chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association Cambodia chapter, said the new airport will enhance Cambodia's image as a modern and accessible destination. "Techo International Airport is poised to play a vital role in shaping Cambodia's future, enhancing its global presence and supporting sustainable economic growth," he told Xinhua. Tariff truce extended by 90 days
At odds: A trade deal may lead to a summit later this year between Trump and Xi. — AP/AFP US President Donald Trump ordered a delay in the reimposition of higher tariffs on Chinese goods, hours before a trade truce between Washington and Beijing was due to expire. The White House's halt on steeper tariffs will be in place until Nov 10. 'I have just signed an Executive Order that will extend the Tariff Suspension on China for another 90 days,' Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. While the United States and China slapped escalating tariffs on each other's products this year, bringing them to prohibitive triple-digit levels and snarling trade, both countries in May agreed to temporarily lower them. Their 90-day halt of steeper levies had been due to expire yesterday. Around the same time that Trump confirmed the new extension, Chinese state media Xinhua news agency published a joint statement from US-China talks in Stockholm saying it would also extend its side of the truce. China will continue suspending its earlier tariff hike for 90 days starting yesterday while retaining a 10% duty, the report said. It would also 'take or maintain necessary measures to suspend or remove non-tariff countermeasures against the United States, as agreed in the Geneva joint declaration,' Xinhua reported. In the executive order posted yesterday to its website, the White House reiterated its position that there are 'large and persistent annual US goods trade deficits' and they 'constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and economy of the United States'. The order acknowledged Washington's ongoing discussions with Beijing 'to address the lack of trade reciprocity in our economic relationship' and noted that China has continued to 'take significant steps toward remedying' the US complaints. The 90-day extension means the truce is now set to expire just after midnight on Nov 10. US-China Business Council president Sean Stein said the current extension is 'critical to give the two governments time to negotiate an agreement' providing much-needed certainty for companies to make plans.
