Aamir Khan was certain ‘log thookenge humpe' when he stalled shoot for 4 hours during Dil, was told audience won't think logically

Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit starrer Dil, directed by Indra Kumar, was one of the biggest hits of the early 1990s. The film hasn't aged well and Aamir, in the past, has expressed his regret about some of the objectionable scenes in the film. At the recently concluded Waves Summit, Aamir said that back then, he was comparatively new in the film industry and his sensibility was not in sync with the mainstream film industry. He recalled shooting a scene for the film where his character gets married to Madhuri Dixit's character behind closed doors, without any witnesses, and said that he just couldn't get past the logical loopholes of the scene.
Aamir said that in the scene, his character Raja barges into her house where her father, played by Saeed Jaffrey, is present. Raja locks himself and Madhu (Madhuri's character) in a room, breaks a table, lights it on fire, and they take pheras around it. 'My mind is logical so I asked Indra that he is taking the pheras but there no witnesses. Saeed Jaffrey is alone and there is an old woman standing with him. So why is he panicking? He should just say that you can do whatever you want, you will ultimately open the door. Even if you say you are married, I will not accept it,' Aamir recalled and shared that they discussed this for 3-4 hours.
When Aamir Khan presented his logical argument, Indra Kumar said that the 'audience is not going to think of all this logical stuff.' Aamir recalled his argument, 'I said how is that possible? They are smart people. They will see the pheras and even though we believe in it emotionally but from a father's point of view, who does not want them to be together, he will take the common sense route. He will say now you go home.'
Aamir said that he gave up eventually and did the scene the way Indra expected him to do it. After the film's release, Aamir went to watch it in a popular single screen in Bandra and was shocked to watch the audience's reaction. 'People started whistling, clapping. I was certain that log humpar thookenge uss scene mein (people will make fun of us). That day was a big learning for me. Technical and legal logic is one thing, the other thing is emotional logic. So when you take them on an emotional journey, then they are not thinking logically,' he said.
In an earlier interview with Aaj Tak, Aamir Khan said that he was 'ashamed' of the lyrics of a popular song from Dil. 'Hindi films have not been responsible enough, especially the way we project men and women. When we show something wrong in the films, we also show that the result of it is something positive. Which is wrong. And we often make the women an 'item' in films. Even the songs are like 'Tu cheez badi hai mast mast'. And even I am involved in this and I have done such films. 'Khambe jaisi khadi hai, ladki hai ya chadi hai.' We are calling women ' khamba ' but not humans. I am very ashamed of it,' he said.

Vyjayanthimala recalls Sunil Dutt as the most ‘Secure Alpha Male' on his birth anniversary: 'Unlike some other actors of those times..'

The Indian cinematic landscape has been blessed with some impressive talents, and one of them was the legendary actor Sunil Dutt . Today, on the occasion of his birth anniversary, Bollywood is fondly immersing in the memories of his best movies. Meanwhile, veteran actress and a legend herself, Vyjayanthimala , in a conversation with us, described him as the most confident and secure alpha male! 'Dutt Saab was liked by everyone. Dev Saab and Dutt Saab were everyone's favorite,' she shared as we started the conversation. Working with Sunil Dutt Recalling the two most iconic films Vyjayanthimala did with Sunil Dutt - 'Sadhana' and 'Amrapali,' the actress shared, 'I would rate these as among my best. I think we did two other films together, Kishore Sahuji's Kismet Ke Khel and Jhoola, which, if my memory serves me correctly, was written by the great lyricist Rajender Krishna.' Sunil Dutt was a confident and secure alpha male Elaborating further, the actress said, 'Dutt Saab was a very supportive co-star. Both 'Sadhana' and 'Amrapali' revolved around my character. But Dutt Saab held his own. And unlike some other actors of those times who were not very happy doing female-oriented subjects, Dutt Saab never hesitated in doing women-oriented films with me, or my contemporaries like Nutan ji and Waheeda ji.' 'He had a very rugged personality. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Promoções imperdíveis de voos baratos Voos | Anúncios de Pesquisa Saiba Mais Undo And yet he could be very sensitive and romantic. In 'Sadhana', he played an educated man who takes a sex worker home to be his wife. It was a reformist character, and he played it with conviction. Amrapali needed a soldier hero. Dutt Saab fitted the bill perfectly,' she continued. 'Interestingly, in both Sadhana and Amrapali, I had all the songs sung by Lataji. Not once Dutt Saab insisted with the director, mujhe bhi gaane do. He was a very confident and secure alpha male,' exclaimed Vyjayanthimala as she reminisced about the legendary star. Khan elaborated on the pressure producers often face from OTT platforms to release films just eight weeks after their theatrical debut, calling it an unreasonable expectation. While he maintained that he holds no grudge against any platform, he questioned the logic of such a short window. 'I am a loyalist of cinema, and I believe in it. Yes, it's a big risk, and there's a lot [of money] involved. If I don't get that chunk of my pre-sales, and the film doesn't work, it could lead to a major loss. I did receive offers, but I turned them down because I want audiences to go to theatres and watch my film. I believe in cinema, and I believe in my audience,' said Khan. Imran Khan recalls past project ‘Delhi Belly': says uncle Aamir Khan was told not to release the film; 'burn the negative, don't let anybody find out'

Beloved former actor Imraan Khan , who has starred in various films like 'Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na' and 'I Hate Luv Storys', recently recalled his days in the film industry and working alongside his uncle Aamir Khan on one of the actor's most popular films to date, 'Delhi Belly'.
