Masterchef in bizarre editing blunder as contestant nods to no-one after chef asked to be cut over Gregg Wallace scandal

THIS is the bizarre moment a Masterchef contestant nodded to an empty space in an awkward BBC edit - after a chef demanded to be removed from the show. The latest series of Masterchef was hit with controversy in the weeks leading up to its launch, with hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode being axed from presenting future series. 6 There was a bizarre moment in tonight's Masterchef when the final three cooks were waiting to know who would be going home Credit: BBC 6 When Hazel made it through, she looked to her left and acknowledged someone, even though viewers couldn't see anyone there Credit: BBC 6 She then did the same reaction to Aileen, who was on her right, and being sent home Credit: BBC However, the BBC ultimately decided to air series 21, which had already been filmed. Tonight's episode - the fourth in its run - saw five amateur cooks enter the kitchen, rather than the usual six. But the usual long shot of the group outside walking towards the kitchen was missing, and instead, the edit featured close ups of their faces or in pairs. Once inside, John and Gregg explained how two cooks would automatically go through to the next round after cooking their first dish. Read More on Masterchef OFF AIR MasterChef in more chaos as it's replaced in schedules weeks into new series The two men in the competition - Sam and Trevor - made it through, leaving the three women - Hazel, Aileen and Marcella - to compete again. After cooking a second dish, the ladies returned to the room but the footage was cut abruptly after Hazel walked in behind Marcella and Aileen. As John revealed who the remaining two chefs to go through to the next round would be, the camera shots remained closely cropped into each of the three women, rather than the wider groups shots that usually feature at this stage in an episode. Marcella was chosen first, before John announced Hazel's name. However in a bizarre moment, Hazel - who was on one end of the line - looked to her left and gave a thankful nod before looking to her right and doing the same to Aileen, who was in the middle of the trio. But as far as viewers could see, there was no one on Hazel's left that she would need to acknowledge. BBC botches bid to edit out sacked duo Gregg Wallace & John Torode from new Masterchef amid calls to axe scandal-hit show As Aileen left the room, Hazel appeared to gesture with her arm to her left, before a big empty space next to Hazel was clearly visible, making her reaction even stranger. It was previously revealed that following John and Gregg's shock exits from the show, one contestant had asked to be edited out of the series. A report had revealed more than 40 historic complaints against Gregg had been upheld, along with a claim that John once used a racist term. Sarah Shafi, from Leeds, argued that airing the series sent the wrong message after the BBC sacked the presenters. Ms Shafi, 57, claimed MasterChef producer Banijay had offered to edit her out of the episode she featured in. "The focus of the series is the contestants, as it always is. The edit has been looked at in light of the upheld findings." Banijay But the participant dismissed the proposal and called for the whole series to be scrapped. Once the corporation confirmed the season was going ahead, Ms Sharif agreed to be edited out. A spokesperson for Banijay previously said: "As we said when we announced the show would be aired, this was not an easy decision in the circumstances and we appreciate not everyone would agree with it. "Banijay consulted with all the contestants before that decision was made and there was widespread support for it going ahead. "The focus of the series is the contestants, as it always is. The edit has been looked at in light of the upheld findings." 6 Footage was edited tightly as the women came back into the kitchen for the result 6 John Torode and Gregg Wallace will not host any further series of Masterchef Credit: BBC 6 The two women made it through to the next round Masterchef airs at 8pm on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer

Clara, 41, said: 'The start of 2023, I was in the flipping trenches. 'I was burnt out, I wasn't taking care of myself properly and I think I was a bit overwhelmed by life's injustices. I just wasn't feeling great and I was in a bit of a negative headspace.' She continued: 'I was feeling really, really depressed sort of mid 2023 and I took some time off radio, and just had to have a little reset. That is when I decided I was going to leave my show.' In her interview with Fearne Cotton on the podcast, she also spoke about the pressure to 'get the next viral clip' while working on the show. Clara said: 'I had mixed reactions. Obviously are bosses, who are lovely, were like 'but why.' 'I'm one of these people where I am so passionate about what I do that I never want to resent anything, I don't want anything to feel like it's forced or a chore. 'And I want to be able to listen to music always as a fan, rather than as a business, and I want to be able to talk to people on a human level without thinking 'got to get that viral interview clip.'' Clara quit Radio 1 in 2023, and said at the time: "I'm so proud of the work I've been able to do on every show, whether it's been from the 8th floor, a city in the UK or a pop star's house across the pond. During her time helming the show, she has helped elevate new artists through her "hottest record" feature. Bonnie Blue Instagram mystery as star vanishes after Ibiza Final Boss video

Bonnie Blue disappeared from Instagram just hours after sharing a video with 'Ibiza Final Boss' Jack Kay. The contentious adult star, who has been banned from OnlyFans, a football stadium and Australia due to her extreme and potentially hazardous sex stunts, vanished from the social media platform today, with her previously verified account being inaccessible for several hours. This isn't the first time Bonnie has gone missing from Instagram. Earlier this year, her account on the Meta-owned platform went dark, as did her TikTok page. The star's Instagram has now dramatically reappeared, but it remains unclear whether it was temporarily banned or removed by Bonnie herself. This comes as 'Ibiza Bob' kickstarts his music career with a cheeky single. The sex worker is infamous for using rage bait as the cornerstone of her marketing strategy, making any move away from social media a surprising decision. She recently confessed in a divisive Channel 4 documentary about her life that she uses multiple different accounts on each platform to spam users with content designed to outrage viewers and drive engagement, reports the Mirror. Bonnie Blue (Image: Rob Parfitt / Channel 4) Bonnie Blue. (Image: Jam Press/@bonnie_blue_xox) She also bragged about mocking and belittling women in her posts. PR expert Sophie tells The Mirror about her social media scheme: "Her use of rage-baiting and hostility towards other women may also point to internalised misogyny or a competitive survival strategy in a space where attention equals power. "Publicly belittling others can offer a temporary illusion of control or superiority – especially when self-worth is closely tied to external validation, views, or notoriety." The Instagram snub comes hot on the heels of Bonnie's peculiar rendezvous with viral Geordie party-goer Jack Kay. In a cringe-inducing video from their Ibiza meet-up, Jack is seen with his arm casually slung around Bonnie, facing away from her. Another clip shows the pair engaging in awkward chit-chat, standing noticeably distant from each other. Following their encounter, Bonnie revealed in a now-removed clip: "It was my shortest video yet. I was shocked how nervous he was." Bonnie has gained infamy for participating in extreme sexual stunts, including sleeping with 1,057 men within just 12 hours. Recently, her controversial career aspirations escalated to such an extent that OnlyFans, the platform where she made her mark, decided she was no longer suitable. The last straw came in June, when the 26 year old unveiled her plans to host a human "petting zoo challenge". The stunt would have involved Bonnie being locked in a glass cage while strangers were invited to do "whatever they wanted" to her. In Channel 4's programme '1,000 Men And Me: The Bonnie Blue Story' - which triggered hundreds of Ofcom complaints - Nottinghamshire-born Bonnie bragged: "I am going to be completely helpless, tied down, gagged, choked". OnlyFans has expressed concerns about this stunt, stating it violated their Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Service, resulting in a permanent ban. Campaigners and fellow sex workers have long urged the website to take action against Bonnie's stunts, but she continued to be platformed until recently. In a statement confirming the permanent ban, an OnlyFans spokesperson previously stated: "Extreme challenge content is not available on OnlyFans and is not permitted under our Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Service. "Any breach of our Terms of Service results in content or account deactivation... This is why it has been necessary to take this action. We always act when users breach our terms of service." For Bonnie, who alleges to have made millions through the site, this was a significant setback. Shortly after the ban, she accused OnlyFans of acting inconsistently and succumbing to peer pressure. She alleged: "OnlyFans took unprecedented action by banning me for making content, while multiple other creators are mimicking my entire marketing techniques and events." Adding that she ensures all safety checks are in place at her events, Bonnie went on to say: "If I didn't have the platform I have for the hard work I've done, I don't think they would have battered an eyelid, as proven with all of these other creators." Earlier this year, Bonnie revealed to the Daily Star that she'd been escorted from Nottingham Forest Football Stadium premises last October and given a lifetime ban. She claimed: "I didn't understand why, because I'd not actually done anything. Even in my TikToks leading up to the game, I never said I wanted to have sex, do any half-time bonking, nothing. I just said: 'Hey, I'm going to be at the Nottingham game'. "When you go to football, you've got football hooligans, people fighting, drinking, you've got so much bigger things to be concerned about, and they were just like - no, you're banned." Bonnie is also barred from Australia following her intentions to sleep with 18 year old lads for content during 'Schoolies Week', which enraged Australian parents. A 20,000-signature petition followed, resulting in her visa being cancelled. Whether Bonnie has been suspended from Instagram remains to be confirmed. The Mirror has contacted Instagram and Bonnie Blue's representatives for comment. Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news from the Irish Mirror direct to your inbox: Sign up here.
