Primark issues major update as popular shopping service launches in 29 stores

Daily Mirror21-05-2025

Today's launch makes the Click and Collect service available in 187 Primark stores which is all of the fashion retailer's estate in Great Britain
Primark has completed its Click and Collect rollout across all of its stores in Great Britain as the final 29 stores launch the service today.
The final rollout sees eight more Primark stores in England and 21 stores in Scotland receive the service. Overall, the fashion retailer's Click and Collect service is available in 187 stores across the UK.

The service allows shoppers to reserve Primark products online, pay, and pick them up at a dedicated desk in their local store two days later. Customers can choose a day to collect, up to seven days ahead. It is free to use, but you need to spend a minimum of £10.

Currently, shoppers can browse over 5,000 items online across its women's, men's, and kids' clothing wear, as well as its home and lifestyle ranges. Alongside this, the high street chain says shoppers can also access new and expanded ranges they might not otherwise be able to get in their local store.
Click & Collect customers can also pay for any additional in-store finds when collecting their order from the dedicated Click & Collect desk, letting them skip in-store queues.
Kari Rodgers, UK Retail Director at Primark, said: 'Now, wherever you live in Great Britain you can browse and shop the best of Primark online, before collecting in the store that suits you. We're thrilled to have now completed this roll out ahead of the summer. Whether you're after a suitcase, a swimsuit or matching holiday outfits for the whole family, Click & Collect makes your summer holiday shopping even easier.
Primark first launched click and collect in November 2022 in 25 stores in the North West, North Wales and parts of Yorkshire. Although many shoppers have asked for an online delivery service from the retailer, it has reiterated many times that home delivery would "never happen".

Primark's 'stylish' £5 bag could be mistaken for £90 Ted Baker version

The Primark handbag looks similar to one by a designer brand, but there's a significant price difference Primark is selling a "stylish" £5 bag that could easily be mistaken for a more expensive version by a designer label. Popular with shoppers looking for budget-friendly fashion, the high street retailer could have another hit with its latest handbag. Its Textured Zip Top Crossbody Bag resembles Ted Baker's Stina Double Zip Croc Effect Mini Camera Bag, yet has a much smaller price tag. The Ted Baker bag is currently fetching £89 online, offering Primark shoppers a hefty saving on a similar style. Both black bags share key features such as a croc-effect finish, a cross-body strap, a zip fastening across the top of the bag, and gold hardware. ‌ The style is so similar that shoppers could pair the black Primark bag with any outfit they'd plan to wear with the Ted Baker bag. While both bags are small and sleek, they differ somewhat in shape. ‌ Both bags have a rectangular shape with rounded edges, but the Ted Baker style is more angular, with a flat front panel. It also has two zipped compartments, and it features the luxury brand's logo. According to the product descriptions, neither bag is real leather. Primark's bag is made from 100% PVC-coated textile, and Ted Baker's alternative is 100% polyurethane. Primark describes its style as a "textured crossbody bag with zip closure and a compact shape for easy everyday wear." The full description reads: "Add a sleek finish to your look with this textured zip top crossbody bag. Its stylish, raised texture gives it a modern, elevated feel. "The secure zip top closure keeps your essentials safe, while the crossbody strap makes it easy to go hands-free. Compact but roomy enough for your phone, keys and everyday bits, it's a great pick for day-to-night plans. Whether you're heading out for errands or dressing up for the evening, this bag adds an effortless style boost!" Meanwhile, John Lewis' description reads: "From Ted Baker, this cross-body bag features an adjustable strap. Complete with two zipped compartments." It adds that the bag has one internal slip pocket. ‌ Unlike Primark, the retailer's website allows shoppers to leave reviews. The bag has an average rating of 4.6 out of five. One happy reviewer said: "Beautiful Bag. Good size to put phone keys make up and small purse in. Its like the Tardis. Small on the outside, big inside. Comfortable straps. Easy, smart and great price." A second thought: "This really is a perfect 'little black bag'. Just large enough for the bare essentials - keys, phone and a comb - the two sections ensure things are easily accessible. The bag is very well finished off, with gold trim on the inside. As well as being stylish, it seems robust, with quality zips and a good length strap." But another wrote: "Although outer dimensions are available and I thought would be suitable for my needs the inside is very small. "I'm not able to fit my Samsung in there (unless I remove the case) and could just about but a few cards, keys and maybe a small hand sanitizer. Strap seems much cheaper than other Ted Baker bags I've owned. Lovely looking but impractical."

In the insane world of budget airlines better pack your canoe

You pay extra for anything other than the smallest item of baggage (Picture: Adobe) There is a joke currently doing the rounds, which you may well have already heard. I've had it told to me by several friends, and have also seen it on Facebook. Sign up to our daily newsletter Sign up Thank you for signing up! In the story, RyanAir boss Michael O'Leary notices a sign in a pub window reading 'Happy hour, Guinness £3 a pint'. O'Leary goes to the bar and orders his drink. The bartender asks if he wants a glass, O'Leary says he does and the barman replies 'That will be an extra £2.50'. The customer grudgingly pays up and is about to rest his pint on the counter, when he is told 'Ah, sir, if you're wanting to use the bar, that's an extra pound.' O'Leary angrily walks away from the bar and goes to sit at a table to be told 'Now, sir, if you want to take a seat that will cost an extra £3.50.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'This is outrageous. How can you expect to get away with this?' moans O'Leary, to which the barman replies 'Well, we are the only pub in town selling Guinness at £3 a pint'. OK, a fairly predictable joke, but it's funny because it's true. As I discovered when I checked in for my flight home from the Brighton Fringe. I travelled down by train, a much longer journey than by air but environmentally more responsible. And also with less restrictions on the amount of luggage I could carry, so I took two bags, both of which were fully packed. I flew back from Gatwick on Monday on EasyJet. I had booked a basic ticket which allowed me to carry on one small cabin bag, which had to fit under the seat in front. If I also wanted to take a larger cabin bag to go in the overhead locker, it was going to cost an extra £43.48, which was nearly as much as the original ticket. There's a lengthy price list for bulky items too. For example, it only costs fifty quid to take a canoe on the plane. That's utter madness. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad All 'budget airlines' such as RyanAir operate broadly similar policies. You pay extra for anything other than the smallest item of baggage, then there is an additional charge if you want to choose which seat you sit in. If you're daft enough, you can even order a meal voucher. Presumably the people purchasing this have never had a look through the EasyJet in-flight menu. Anyway, when I came to pack for my flight, there was no way all my stuff would fit in a bag under the seat. The suit I was wearing on stage all week was one I had bought at Primark several years previously for around fifty quid. I know, I shop at EasyJet and Primark. That's how well comedy pays. The suit served its purpose, as it looked OK from a distance and under stage lighting. Up close, you could easily tell it was an extremely cheap piece of tailoring. To take it back to Edinburgh was going to cost roughly the same as the value of the garment. I donated it to a charity shop. In what insane world is it cheaper to buy a suit than to take it home on a plane? Next time I fly, I'm packing everything into a canoe.
