Shoppers praise Primark for 'life-changing' update to kids' clothing range
Parents have commended Primark for making an 'amazing' update to its kidswear range — with many begging for similar options in adult sizes. Ahead of the new school year, the retailer announced it would be removing traditional neck labels from children's T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, pyjamas, and nightwear, printing them on the fabric instead. The change represents more than half of Primark's junior line, but it has also committed to further increasing this percentage over the coming months in an effort to create 'clothes that feel right'. And that's not all; as part of a move towards more inclusive design, it will also offer seamless and flat seam socks — addressing a particular source of discomfort for people with sensory issues. Sharing the news on Instagram, Primark wrote: 'You told us seams and labels can be a real challenge for many children, so we're making small but important changes that really help… 'No extra cost. No added fuss. Just more comfort in the clothes you already buy.' The response from shoppers was overwhelmingly positive, and multiple comments thanked the high street giant. Amy Olivia Clare and Lauren T-Brooks both called these new socks 'life-changing' for their families, with the latter explaining: 'The amount of times I have to put my daughter's socks inside out so she can wear them.' 'This is such an amazing step forward,' added Sam, who goes by @lifewithmothergoose. 'As a Mum of an autistic teen I've spent so many year cutting out labels!' Others called on Primark to introduce sensory-friendly products for all age groups, including Jodie Jae Porteus who said: 'It would be a game changer for neurodivergent adults.' 'Yes please!,' commented another user, Kim. 'It's so irritating and overwhelming at times to have scratchy labels constantly bothering me.' A Primark spokesperson responded: 'We're always exploring ways to improve comfort and inclusivity across all our ranges, so stay tuned!' This comes after the chain finalised the rollout of its long-awaited Click and Collect service, allowing customers to browse and order online before picking up in store. More Trending Kari Rodgers, UK retail director at Primark, commented: 'We know that our customers love the convenience that Click and Collect offers… We hope this will help make summer holiday shopping that little bit easier.' It also opened Fountain House – its first ever standalone homeware store – in Belfast, offering a wider selection of interiors items at the same bargain prices. Fans can get hold of all sorts of goodies at the new branch, from 80p diffusers to £50 storage benches and £45 side tables. Do you have a story to share? M&S makes major change to convince you to switch your weekly food shop
M&S has long been associated with dine in treats, picky bits and limited edition yumminess (strawberry sando and Big Daddy choc, we're looking at you). It's not somewhere most of us do our weekly shop. But now, the supermarket has launched more than 100 new items in a bid to become 'a true shopping list retailer' that can compete with the likes of Sainsbury's and Tesco. From this week, M&S has expanded its Bigger Pack, Better Value range by a third, aiming to deliver family-sized staples at affordable prices. New lines added to the range include 12 Free Range British Eggs for £3.20, a four pack of Hass avocados for £3.50, and larger size Double Cream (600ml) for £2.65. Historically it's been hard to get everything you need at M&S, but alongside new family packs, shoppers will now find other cupboard essentials in store, from medicines and bulk-buy washing tablets, to baby food and own-brand formula. The changes couldn't come sooner for M&S, which is still managing the fallout from a huge cyber attack earlier this year. The high street shop was targeted by hackers in April, which disrupted contactless payments and Click and Collect – just one of many major retailers that have been hacked in recent months. More Trending Shoppers were faced with empty shelves and a pause in online orders, with M&S stating that its profits would be reduced by around £300 million due to the impact. Each month, consumer watchdog Which? compare the average price of 79 items at the UK's biggest supermarkets to determine the cost of doing your food shop. Sadly, M&S aren't included, but the latest results show Aldi was the cheapest supermarket in June. The budget supermarket charged £131.52 on average for the shopping list of branded and own-label groceries. Lidl was close behind – Lidl Plus loyalty app users would pay just 35p more in comparison (£131.87), or 37p for non-loyalty members (£131.89). Meanwhile Asda, which doesn't offer loyalty discounts in the same way, was crowned the cheapest of the traditional supermarkets, with the same list of groceries costing £144.82. At the other end of the scale, Waitrose was the most expensive supermarket at £178.64 – that's 36% more than Aldi. Alex Freudmann, managing director at M&S Food, said the chain has been 'working hard' on the expanded line to 'close our range gaps and make sure the price and quality of our key family lines delivers against customers expectations.' 'All this has been increasing our credibility with families and we're seeing strong growth with these shoppers,' he said. 'As we always say at M&S, there's still lots of opportunity to go further and really cement M&S as the destination for families to get everything they need, at the quality you can only get from M&S.' M&S to take weeks to recover fully from devastating cyber attack
Marks & Spencer is expected to fully resume online shopping within four weeks as it continues to recover from the massive cyber attack. Half of the systems including Click and Collect are still down despite online orders being restarted in June, the retailer's boss said. Stuart Machin told the retailer's annual general meeting that after the brand goes 'fully on' the focus will then be on getting its Castle Donington distribution centre in the East Midlands 'back and running'. He said that 'we will have the vast majority of this behind us' by August. Hackers disrupted contactless payments and Click and Collect during the cyber attack in April. The retailer then confirmed that customer data had been stolen, although it said no passwords or card details were accessed. The attack will wipe around £300 million from this year's profits, the chain has estimated, with the losses only being partly covered by insurance. Online orders have resumed in England, Scotland and Wales, but customers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are still waiting for the service. Mr Machin said: 'Currently, half of online is open but not areas like Click and Collect. Within the next four weeks we are hoping for the whole of online to be fully on. 'Then our focus will be getting the Donington site back and running.' The high street giant has previously said that the disruption to services will continue into June and July. Last week, it sent out e-gift cards to customers who had online orders cancelled or had click and collect orders delayed. A message on the M&S website today reads: 'We will resume Click & Collect, Next Day Delivery and UK Nominated Day Delivery for fashion and international ordering in the coming weeks.' More Trending The retailer is just one of many household names that have been hacked recently including Co-op, Harrods and Dior. In April, Co-op had to shut down its IT systems to stop hackers from snatching personal and financial information like shopper passwords or bank details. As with the M&S cyber attack, Co-op shoppers were left contending with empty shelves and deliveries being paused. Do you have a story you would like to share? Glasgow M&S customers handed special gift after cyber attack
The supermarket giant was struck by a major cyber attack in April 2025. It only recently reopened its website to shoppers after it was forced to halt online orders following the damaging attack. Now, affected punters have been sent an e-gift card from the firm as an apology for the attack. "To thank you for your support, we're sending you an e-gift card to spend online, or in our stores across our fantastic fashion, home and beauty ranges. "We have now resumed online orders in England, Scotland, and Wales with home delivery within five days and nominated day delivery available for flowers and hampers. "If you are in Northern Ireland, the e-gift card is currently valid in-store only, whilst we work hard to resume online orders. "Look out for an email from us in your inbox with your e-gift today. Thank you for shopping with us." The cyber attack in April saw the firm face heavy disruption. M&S halted orders on its website over the Easter weekend and was left with some empty shelves after being targeted by hackers. Customer personal data, which could have included names, email addresses, postal addresses and dates of birth, was also taken by hackers. M&S revealed last month that the hack was caused by 'human error' and would cost around £300 million.
