
Taste of Dublin unveils limited edition cookbook to raise money for charity
The food festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the launch of a specially curated cookbook Taste of Dublin: The Recipes with signature dishes from some of Ireland's favourite chefs; including Donal Skehan, Derry Clarke, Nevin Maguire, Rachel and Darina Allen and Mark Moriarty.
A percentage of the proceeds from each sale of this limited-edition cookbook will go directly to the Dublin Simon Community.
Taste of Dublin: The Recipes is a special collection of 20 former festival demo dishes that reflect the Irish contemporary food scene and its evolution over the past two decades.
Jo Mathews, Taste of Dublin, CEO, Equinox Events, said: "We are delighted to be launching our 20th anniversary programme of celebrations with this unique cookbook.
"It has been a thoroughly enjoyable labour of love to produce, and I want to sincerely thank all those who kindly contributed their time and immense talent to create this exceptional collection of recipes.
"The cookbook is complemented by mouth-watering photography as well as insightful anecdotes from our stellar line-up of chefs, some of whom have been with us at the festival from year one.
"We are proud to be partnering with Dublin Simon Community with a portion of each book sale going towards their vital work.
"We look forward to the festival in June and celebrating this milestone occasion with all involved."
Emma Kilkenny, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Dublin Simon Community, added: "The funds raised from the book will help us provide vital housing and healthcare services for people experiencing homelessness.
"Every year, we offer over 300,000 meals to people living in our services, providing nourishment and a sense of community."

DERRY GIRLS actress Jamie-Lee O'Donnell is set to appear in a forthcoming adaptation of Irish author Rónán Hession's debut novel, Leonard and Hungry Paul. The feel-good story follows two board-gaming friends in their thirties as they meander through leafy suburban life, charting a story about Judo, first loves and the expansion of the Universe. The six-part series, which has recently been filming in Dublin, also stars Alex Lawther from Andor and Alien: Earth and Laurie Kynaston from Sandman. The unexpected death of Leonard's mother, the approaching wedding of Hungry Paul's sister and a tentative new romance for Leonard in the form of Shelley (O'Donnell), prompts both men to meet a world that is suddenly wider and full of unfamiliar possibilities. Eurovision bosses announce city to host the 2025 song contest
RTE's Irish delegation is set to travel to Vienna for next year's Eurovision as the host city is revealed. Austria's capital was selected by national broadcaster ORF and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) following a competitive bid process. The Grand Final will be staged at the Wiener Stadthalle on Saturday 16 May, with Semi-Finals on Tuesday 12 and Thursday 14 May. This will be the third time Vienna has welcomed Eurovision. The city first hosted in 1967 after Udo Jürgens' victory the year before, and again in 2015 following Conchita Wurst's win. Next year's contest comes after Austria's JJ triumphed in Basel this May with Wasted Love, securing the country's third Eurovision crown. Martin Green, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest, said Vienna's reputation as "one of the most musical cities in the world" and its central European location made it the ideal choice. He added that the Stadthalle proved to be an "exceptional venue" when it staged the 60th edition. Vienna's mayor Michael Ludwig said the city would ensure events around the contest are accessible to everyone, while Tourism Director Norbert Kettner described Eurovision and Vienna as a "perfect match". Eurovision has delivered significant boosts to recent host cities, with Liverpool, Malmö and Basel all reporting major gains in tourism and international profile. Further details on events, participating countries and ticket sales will be announced in the coming months. It comes after we revealed RTE spent €385,000 for two weeks in Basel, sending Norwegian singer Emmy to the Eurovision Song Contest in May of this year. The national broadcaster forked out €50,785 for a hotel for 19 people who were part of the delegation who travelled to Switzerland in May. Emmy failed to secure a place for Ireland in the final with her tune Laika Party. A Freedom of Information request revealed production costs amounted to €79,242, transportation costs totalled €1,407, while €7,503 was spent on economy flights Basel. The FOI showed a total of €2,538 was spent on 'representation', while 'subsistence costs' were €12,079. RTE said: 'The cost associated with Eurovision is two fold; one is to produce an act to represent Ireland in the biggest entertainment show in the world, to a standard that we can be proud of in front of an audience of 166 million viewers, the other is to provide over nine hours of live entertainment to an Irish audience who watch the competition in large numbers. Both horses went into the race at the same odds of 28/1, but it was Patrick who got the family bragging rights with a third place finish on Lord Lackendarra. Patrick was confident he would get the better of his his daughter before the race when he was speaking to RacingTV. He had said: "This is Sarah and she is not as good as her father, but she's working on it. Eventually when I retire I hope she is as good as me." Sarah finished in a respectable sixth place aboard Goodmancon as she enjoyed the rare spectacle. The 18-year-old spoke to Horse Racing Ireland this week, reflecting: 'It was fairly cool when we pulled up, I knew turning up the straight that I wasn't going to beat him this time. 'He was fairly happy, and I was as happy as I could be seeing as he finished in front of me! It was fairly surreal pulling into the parade ring together." Patrick is a jockey and horse trainer from Waterford. Having broken his neck aged 29, he had to put his jockey career on the back burner. He hadn't raced in 23 years before competing in Wexford last month in preparation for this dream race. It was his goal to race against his daughter and his inspiration for returning to the saddle. Teen Irish jockey Jamie Martin gives joyful interview after winning his debut race Sarah said: 'That was always dad's goal, he wanted to ride against me, so it was always the plan to ride against each other when he took out the license. 'I didn't see it any different until we weighed out. We ride out together every day. I didn't take any notice of him until we were both in the same colours, then it dawned on me that we were racing against each other in an actual race. 'We are fairly competitive at home, so it was a bit annoying now that he finished in front of me, but I'll definitely get him the next day. He's been soaking it up - I didn't hear the end of it on the way home!' Patrick had to dust off his silks as well as lose three stone to reach an appropriate weight to ride Lord Lackendarra. The pair are not the first father-daughter duo to race against each other, as Willie and Rosemary Rooney have also been in the same boat. While the feet had been a goal of Patrick's for some time, his daughter never fully believed it would happen. Sarah added: 'I didn't really think it was going to happen, I thought it was an unrealistic goal but when we found a race in Tramore we thought it would be ideal. "Both horses had course form and it's our local track. We said it would be best to go there. "He had to do a lot of work to get back riding. He put in a lot of work at home as well as getting the horses ready. Getting both horses ready for the same race is not that easy.'
