PETALING JAYA: Property developer LBS Bina Group Bhd's special purpose vehicle, Suria Hijauan Sdn Bhd, has secured a RM88.4 million green financing facility from Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd to fund the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) costs for its maiden 43 MWp solar farm project.
The project, which is under the Corporate Green Power Programme, is located in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan, and is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
The solar farm is expected to deliver stable, recurring revenue, thus enhancing long-term earnings resilience and underscoring LBS's commitment to sustainable growth.
The solar farm project is expected to generate approximately 53,000 MWh of clean energy annually, effectively offsetting about 35,000 tonnes of carbon emissions. Atlantic Blue Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Solarvest Holdings Bhd, was appointed as the EPCC contractor under a RM104 million contract, leveraging its expertise in delivering large-scale solar projects.
LBS group executive chairman Tan Sri Lim Hock San said, 'This green financing marks an important milestone for LBS as we diversify into renewable energy, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.
'Securing this credit facility from a reputable bank like Alliance Bank highlights the strong potential of our renewable energy venture and our capacity to expand our initiatives within this sector. This support reflects confidence in our strategic direction and financial strength, while also facilitating the successful execution of this project.'
He added that this initiative not only resonates with their goal of creating a positive environmental impact, it also strategically complements their core property development business by integrating future product offerings with renewable energy solutions.
Alliance Bank Group CEO Kellee Kam said they believe financial institutions have a critical role to play in advancing sustainable development and are honoured to partner with LBS, a company whose values and vision closely align with their own.
He added, 'Today's announcement is not just the launch of a project – it marks the beginning of a journey and a cause we are proud to be part of.'

PETALING JAYA: MGB Bhd, under LBS Bina Group Bhd, has successfully completed its topping out for Idaman Sari, one of its six Rumah Idaman MBI projects under the same initiative. Strategically located in Puchong, Idaman Sari comprises 513 residential units spread across 2.45ha of land, and is developed to support a sustainable and comfortable lifestyle for urban families. Each unit has a built-up area of at least 1,000 sq ft and comes with a layout of featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms, two designated parking lots and modern home essentials including a television with cabinet, refrigerator, kitchen cabinet, three air conditioners, water heaters in both bathrooms and wardrobes in every bedroom and excellent access to amenities nearby. Prices for each unit of Rumah Idaman start from RM 250,000 onwards. Idaman Sari will be the fourth Rumah Idaman to complete its topping out after Idaman BSP, Idaman Melur as well as Idaman Cahaya 1 and 2 projects respectively. It is another step forward for MGB in supporting the Selangor state government's effort under the Rumah Idaman initiative to deliver up to 30,000 high-quality, affordable housing units across Selangor for its residents. To date, the success and progress of MGB delivering on its Rumah Idaman projects remains steady, starting with the handover of keys for Idaman BSP in August 2024 and the recent successful handover of keys for Idaman Melur, which was held last month. In line with MGB's mission to push boundaries and surpass expectation through quality, reliability and innovation, Idaman Sari is built using MGB's Industrialised Building System (IBS) precast technology, a construction method that uses precast concrete panels manufactured under strict quality control and consistency that has been proven to positively impact project timelines by reducing construction time by up to 33%. MGB Bhd group executive chairman Tan Sri Ir. Dr. Lim Hock San said, 'The topping out of Idaman Sari is MGB's statement on the progress we have made in providing well-built, affordable homes to Malaysians, especially those residing in Selangor. Solar, grid upgrades to drive RE momentum

PETALING JAYA: The utilities sector and renewable energy (RE) subsector continue to benefit from structural policy tailwinds, driven by Malaysia's ambitious decarbonisation goals under the National Energy Transition Roadmap. MBSB Research said solar remains a multi-year growth engine, on top of the incoming battery energy storage system (Bess) requirements, which will benefit engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) players such as Solarvest Holdings Bhd , Samaiden Group Bhd , Pekat Group Bhd , Sunview Group Bhd and Northern Solar Holdings Bhd. Tenaga Nasional Bhd will be the key beneficiary in the asset ownership space from both RE capacity expansion and grid upgrade investments. 'As of July 2025, Malaysia achieved an operational RE capacity of 4.57GW, making up about 17% of the country's current installed capacity. This was led predominantly by solar at 4.24GW,' MBSB Research said in a report yesterday. The evaluation process for large scale solar (LSS) 5+ has been completed and winning bidders will be notified soon. Notably, the programme is divided into Package A with a quota of 1.5GW for land-based solar power plants, while Package B is for the remaining 500MW, specifically for floating solar. This will add another 2GW of solar capacity by 2027. 'We expect further news flow surrounding this in the next few weeks. 'Following this, we also expect the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry, or Energy Commission, to announce LSS6, which may add another 2GW of solar capacity, coupled with Bess requirements,' the research house said. MBSB Research said it previously estimated that solar would be dominant, accounting for a 25%, 39%, 52% and 58% share of the capacity mix in 2035, 2040, 2045 and 2050, respectively, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 14% between 2025 and 2050. 'This underpins a multi-year growth story for solar EPCC companies and also asset-owners, through power generation over the long-term,' it said. Further, MBSB Research said the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry is expected to announce a new version of the net energy metering (NEM) programme this month. The research firm said it was hinted that this could be a hybrid mechanism of NEM and self-consumption, or an entirely new programme. 'The ministry is in the midst of finalising the new programme, which will be aligned with the new tariff structure and designed in a way that gradually shifts away from subsidy dependency.'
